    Bought mine yesterday, I've owned several glock pistols and in my opinion this is the best glock so far. Hope they start making all glock' s as good as this one. No matter what brands of pistols I buy I always come back to glock.

    One thing I noticed while shooting the G45 is that with the combination of longer grip allowing more to hold onto and the shorter slide meaning less reciprocating mass, the gun seems to have a smoother recoil impulse than the 17 and the 19. Just my personal experience.

    • @Gieszkanne
      @Gieszkanne 2 года назад +4

      I have read comments and did see reviews where they say because of the more mass the G17 is a bit softer. And actually this makes more sense. Its because of mass inertia!

      Shot both (17 and 45) back to back on Friday about 4-5 mags each and i agree completely. First time trying either and the 45 was a noticeably smoother experience. The 17 was a gen 3 tho, not sure if it matters much.

    • @leftfordead8336
      @leftfordead8336 2 года назад

      @@Gieszkanne the recoil generated from a handgun is because of reciprocating force. Heavier slide = more recoil as a stand-alone factor. Then there’s other variables obviously in terms of size of frame and caliber

    My hands fit the finger grooves and grip length of my gen 4 g19 perfectly as well and I still prefer the 45. Its more comfortable in the hand, more comfortable to shoot, with more capacity, and an easier holster draw. The added grip length makes almost no difference in concealability in the appendix position if you use a holster with a claw. I'm very happy I made the switch from the 19 to this. The 19 was always known as the "do everything" gun with its versatility and I'd say it's still one of the best in that regard, but I think the 45 and 19x have now stepped it up and taken the crown.

  • @perryklein1790

    Very informative video. I settled on the G 45; I did have both, the G 17 Gen 5 and G 19 Gen 5 with the cutout in the magwell. Additionally, my G 17 was an early one, and I had the mismatched beveled slide and non beveled frame. Here's the interesting thing, and I don't think that I'm imagining it; the trigger reset on the G 45 and G 19X seems to be shorter than the the other Gen 5's. The nDLC coating is, in my opinion, the best finish of any handgun that I've ever owned. I'm glad that Glock decided to put front serations on all models.

    I bought the only G-45 I could find, and for the first time in my life, I didn’t try the trigger. When I got it home and began getting used to it, to say my trigger sucked, was an understatement! There were about 4 stopping points before I got to the wall, and while advertised at a 5.5 trigger, it felt more like 7. Mine was for duty use, so I couldn’t use the Glock Performance trigger, which says on the package that it does not pass criteria for LE use.
    I got an Apex trigger, which helped a tad, changed to an old, well worn Gen 4 connector, and it sucks, but drew less vacuum. I had to qualify with it yesterday, and got a very good score, which surprised me.

    I’m a BIG fan of the TruGlo fiber optic Tritium sights. They are metal body with green fiber optic tubes AND a tritium vial. They light up like neon in sunlight and have a very discernible green glow in total darkness. The rear sight is cut in such a way as to allow it’s use in one handed cycling of the slide. The front sight has an orange ring around the green tube and aids in drawing your eye to the front blade. In my humble opinion these sights are the best of both worlds and they equip all my Glocks along with with a pair of 1911’s in the gun safe.

    I can't speak with any direct knowledge, but I was speaking with a local patrol officer who bought a 19x because the 17 holster pushes his duty belt up when he sits in the patrol car. The shorter 19x with a compact light does not, but he still has the same capacity.

    Thank you 👍 for the insight. I have a 17 and a 21 but I don’t want to use them for CC. The 21 is a duty hostler gun not CC and my 17 is a Gen 1 Austrian made antique that still runs amazing but I wouldn’t want to turn it into police if I used it in self defense it’s my first and an antique. So I was looking at a Glock 19 but the grip size had me thinking. On the 17 my hand just fits so the 45 has that covered. Then the reduced barrel length does drop muzzle velocity which reduces energy on impact. This helps with my concern of secondary collateral damage. 9 mm have a high probability of going through your target and hitting an innocent bystander. So with defense ammunition and slightly reduced velocity/energy this gives a reduced possibility of collateral damage. So the 45 looks perfect for me. Thanks again.

  • @JamesDonatelli

    Taking a Dremel tool to undercut the Glock 19 trigger guard can make the Glock 19 sized grip feel more comfortable in large hands. If a 19 feels a bit too snug especially around the knuckle of your middle finger and you don't want to concealed carry the extra grip length of a 17 or 45, a the undercut trigger guard is a nice modification. Your hand then connects with the gun a tad bit higher on the frame for better recoil control. Many after market frame upgrades now use this feature in the design of their "custom" frame design. It's simple and it works!

    • @DLordSadow

So make sure you lubricate it lightly and wipe the access off! That's what I do is pay attention to that! They will run great without lubricant but I do mine just a little where parts rub so I know it will not wear out sooner!

    Love my G45. I added Trijicon night sights and a white light/green laser combo and it's my home defense/ nightstand gun.
    Great video brother 👍

    Hi John, Thanks for your great content in the firearm community. Keep up the good work. Only problem I had with Glock in overall, over the years, is why did they not release the Glock Gen 4 without Finger grooves on grip, and put some slide grooves on back then. Back then when I purchase my Glock 19 Gen 4, that would have made more sense then and the money worth. Don't get me wrong still EDC my Gen 4 and loving it, but had to invest in A magwell , Better Sights, and trigger. Can't Glock listen to the Gun community for once and bring all the above in on package that affordable that rater creating GENERATIONS with minimum change and do so making me feel utterly dummed struck aawww another Glock!!. Greatings from South Africa. Cornè

    It shoots high left with Hornady 135gr
    Shoots ok with federal 147gr
    It seems shorter Barrel not stabilizing
    Higher velocity rounds

    This is my favorite ccw pistol because it is very handy, light, smooth and accurate firings at the range, nice for any legal carry in any allowed states.👍

    This review was very helpful. I was trying to pick between this or the glock 19 gen 5 mos because I want to run a red dot. As long as the triggers are the same between the 2 I will go with the mos.

      James Manning hopefully you waited to buy that 19 gen 5 mos because now you can get the G45 mos that is out.

    It’s weird they make aftermarket slide “stop” releases to make releases easier

  • @warrenrosen2326
    @warrenrosen2326 3 года назад +1

    Use the thumb lock grip and you won't foul the slide or stop, plus you don't waste thumb strength.

    Actually, thanks for touching on the G17. I want to see glock release the 21 and 41 in gen 5, and for wishful thinking I’d like them to bring back the fish gill slide.

      @8541tactical  4 года назад +1

      The 41 is my current duty gun (only .45 ACP MOS option). I would love to see a Gen 5 since I can’t grind on the frame of this one.

    I recently picked up a G45 MOS and it’s the best one I’ve certainly handled. I’m probably going to end up purchasing a Glock 19X at some point just because.

    Have you noticed any of these problems with the 45?
    -frame flexing/bending
    - Sticky/heavy trigger
    - Trigger bar rubbing against frame and slide stop
    - Slide stop/frame protruding when firing and dry firing.
    I’m on the fence between the 45 and a Gen 4 19 I’m leaning towards the 45 but reliability issues will cause me to lose interest

    • @8541tactical
      @8541tactical  5 лет назад +1

      I haven’t experienced any of those issues. The frame has the typical polymer gun flex, but not excessively. The trigger is lighter than the Gen4.

    Best Glock so far. It's made for those who like the slide length and shorter sight radius of the G19, but whose hands are too big to get a positive purchase on the 19.

    Glock 45 with an Agency Arms comp; allowing you to mount the front sight to it maximizing sight radius. That's my plan

    My 45 didn't work for shit on the limp wrist test... my wife helped me out with it because I couldnt do ot right. She learned to tighten up and it worked like a charm. She had stove pipes and failures to cycle. That's normal though. She learned.

    I've had several 17's and 19's. For some reason, the 45 balances and shoots best for me. It's not enough to really make a difference in any scenario I can think of, but I do happen to like the characteristics of the shorter slide combined with the longer frame.

    I'm waiting for the Glock 48c MOS (?) (46 is rotating lock and 47 is 9x18, maybe), the 19 frame with a comp cut 17 slide... That should cut a few hundred off the cost of a "faux-lan" special.

    Which Dawson Precision sight height did you go with for your G19 MOS edc pistol? Great video as always

    • @8541tactical
      @8541tactical  5 лет назад

      My EDC wears the Ameriglo Suppressor Sights. The Dawsons are on the G17 Gen 5 and those are their standard competition sights. I probably would go with the "charger" sights if I had to do it again.

      MDpolo Gun Channel As a G-17 Gen 3 owner the ‘here’s where it’s coming from’ helped the shorter length make sense. Excellent narrative and rationale.
