  • You guys...this goat is the worsttttttt
Hi there! 👋🏻 We live on a 1-acre farm right in the middle of the busy city of Phoenix, Arizona! Our names are Kevin & DaNelle, and we moved here in 2009, when our kids Ethan & Lydia were just 6 & 4 years old 🥰 Over the years we've raised goats for milk, chickens for eggs, built a fish/swim pond, planted fruit & nut trees, and grew a large garden full of veggies. We've also raised a bunch of other animals like pigs, sheep, turkeys, geese, peacocks, and more!
Now that our kids are away at college, we have settled into doing what we love most -- which is raising & breeding goats ethically to improve genetics. But don't worry, we'll forever love our goofy pet goats like Luna the herd queen & Willow the stump lover. We also still love raising chickens for eggs, gardening, tending to the fruit & nut trees, and growing fish in the pond. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, yogurt -- and we use that + everything else we harvest on our little farm to make delicious meals. Having a getaway from the busy world right in our backyard brings so much joy to us each day, and we hope it brings some to you, too. 🥰

The pill bugs are called Isopods. I'd recommend reading up on them because they actually are good for your soil and only eat decaying matter. They typically hate citrus and love the animal poop and love decaying leaves.

Hi, isopod breeder here. Isopods will 100% eat live plants. They actually have a preference for proteins. Young tender plants are at most risk. The orange peels will keep them away long enough for plants to become established. Then they’ll move back in eating insect eggs and detritus.

I do not know where the fallacy that they only eat decaying matter came from. I have seen them eating small sprouts and strawberries. Particularly when I have an egregious infestation.

While they do eat decaying plants, in high numbers they eat live plants as well and it’s been a problem for us in past years. It's hard work and very tiring to hand milk four high producers by hand twice a day and hold down a full time job and raise three growing boys. A good decision for Wednesday 👍 getting a runt/weak baby is a combination of many factors and maybe she has some genes but other factors compensate, however in an offspring those may not compensate as well.

What if you make a similar bottle feeding bucket like you have but put dividers in it so they look like mini feeding stations and the babies won't move as much to another nipple since they can't see it in their peripheral vision? Not sure how much work it would be but Kevin is awesome at creating new inventions! 🎉
