I loved to can when I was younger. I was able to get produce for free or very cost effective, and what a blessing it was. Fruits, veggies, jams and jellies. I LOVE to make jelly and jam.. I made zucchini relish which tastes like a bread and butter pickle, yum. I had no idea you could do milk and butter. I am thrilled about it water glass for eggs. Amazing. Family and neighbors always shared excess produce, was wonderful. It’s so sad to drive down the road and see fruit trees with the ground covered with rotting fruit underneath. I got involved with gleaners for a while and people would call in and offer produce if we would pick it. What a blessing.

I learned how to can milk from a good friend and to do the evaporated milk from Homestead Heart also. I love having it on the shelf. I took this past week off from work and I made and canned zucchini relish for the first time, bought 4 dozen corn from a local farmer, canned some of it and froze some of it. I will be going back for more because I know that won't last me until next summer. I also harvested my potatoes. This was my first time growing them, but I think the weather had something to do with the lower harvest, but I did can up 6 quarts and we've been eating some of the smaller ones. Yes, canning is work, but it is SO rewarding!

I did some work for my son on a rental property he owned and he paid me for the job and that's what I used to buy mine. I've used it a couple of times so far. I have a glass top stove and can't use it on that so I got a single burner just so I can "can". Still learning and would love to take your class. I just rec’d my pressure canner last week. I canned some when I was first married because my daddy always planted a huge garden. Now that I’m retired, I am ready to start again. We have a couple of really good farmer’s markets near me. Also, I’m growing tomatoes for the first time in many years. I’m looking to can some of them, too. I look forward to your canning classes. Love both of your family’s RUclips sites!! ❤️
