I get store bought eggs when on sale. I rub each one with mineral oil and I've used cooking oil which both have worked. Just rub eggs with oil, place back in carton & return to refrigerator and they keep up to a year. I've done this for years & never a bad egg.

I am thankful for a neighbor whose family love Dill Pickles and save me the jars. I am blessed over here in South Louisiana. Because the heat has been so terrible I stayed in most of the day and worked at removing the Broccoli seeds from their pods. I always let the last sprigs of the Broccoli go to seed and the Bees love the bright yellow flowers. Today I stopped at two 5 gallon buckets and Have one more to go. So far, I have almost 1 cups of Broccoli seeds. Lol, I only garden in the back yard. Could you use some seeds dear?

I waterglassed eggs for the first time last Sept. I still have 2 dozen I have not used yet. We found that using 2 gal buckets will hold 5 dozen eggs each. Then they are not too heavy. Have to have air tight lids. They are fine for scrambling and truly make the best angel food cake. We did not like them boiled. The whites tend to be somewhat watery compared to fresh egg. I have not had any odors or anything. We picked the cleanest fresh from the nest eggs and added a dozen at the time.

So by doing this I am basically preserving the eggs until I'm ready to use them. Cooking them for scrambling, frying or boiling. I hope I understood you correctly!! I don't have any chickens yet so I will have to get them from someone else. I've been using store bought eggs, mixing a big batch to make scrambled eggs, then pouring them into ice trays. When frozen pop them out and put into vac sealed bags. They taste ok but not the best. I can't find ice trays that are big enough to freeze whole individual eggs so I've been looking for a way to have whole eggs. Thanks so much for this preservation trick!! You solved my problem!! Love your videos and Colby's❤❤ You two are great!!!! Love your family!!❤🙏

I was so glad to find out about water glassing eggs. I followed the directions exactly!! A year later I opened the bucket up and a horrible smell came out! They were my fresh eggs and several were bad. I wish my neighbors wanted eggs I give them to anyone!! It is just my husband and I and 10 Hens and 5 dogs. It is a good thing that I bake a lot and my dogs love eggs!! My eggs don't go to waste because I bake cornbread with 10 eggs and my chickens love that as their treat!!

I've had that happen too-- some of them might have cracked on teh jar for various reasons -- but the rest are probably still ok
