    Heidi,
If my husband was still alive, he would love your your channel. He was a prepper since the Y-2K craze started. One thing that he prepared us for and no one say it would happened, was Katrina. He kept telling everyone that Katrina was going to be devastating and people better prepare, even way up were we live, Laurel, Mississippi. Two weeks as it was just started churning out in the ocean. My husband bought a huge gas operated generator on a trailer with multiple outlets. We got several 55 gallons drums and filled with gas and diesel. Got out chain saws serviced and sharpened. All vehicles and tractors and four wheelers and lawn mower filled with gas and all gas jugs. All gas and diesel containers. Purchased water and non perishable foods and bread. Filled up propane gas tanks at our house and in-laws. I filled up empty soda bottles and put in freezer so I could have frozen bottles to use for pain relief in case I injuries and I had hurt my back in a car accident back then.
I always kept my bleach jugs and filled them with water for times like this. To use if the toilet. My mother in law started doing it also. We stayed at my in-laws. My son was young. I was a home health nurse. It was awful damage from the hurricane. Over 200 miles north from the coast where Katrina hit. The damage was horrible in our community as well. It was never mentioned on the news. Lives were lost also. Lucky, we were ok, and no trees down on our house or the in-laws, we prayed during the whole ordeal that night. It was so scary. The raid we lived on. Trees were down cris cross from one another. My husband and brother in-law, and neighbors got their chainsaws out and tractors and started cutting trees up and clearing the road. The cleared that county road all the way to the state highway. He said when he got to the end he looked both ways and it wasn’t not but a sea of trees lying on top of each other.
My mother in law and I on the gas stove cooked a hug lunch, we let out freezer at our house thaw layer by layer. What ever was thawed that was our meal. The two weeks we were out of power. We ate better and fed all the families on the road we lived on and help the personal care home with their patients. I went and checked on on my home health patients when a path was cut so I could. I had the drive my little suv under trees that were laying on top of each other and drive over power lines.

@@debbiehall3759 my new little family was in Hurricane Camille in 1967.....and we were in upper Illinois. When Camille got done w alabama and Mississippi,
It moved over to Louisiana and "battered" the mouth of the Mississippi for DAYS...
well....it spawned what they called "hurrcanic tornadoes"
We were in Clinton,Illinois and a tornado blew for hours and hours w that horizontal rain u see in hurricanes. Tornadoes happen and then they're gone. Not this one.....
It blew a house off its foundation and into the little river that ran thru the middle of town.....we had 19" of rain in 3 hrs. These folks had never seen anything like it. I'm from Florida....I knew....😬....
The water rose where we were
20+ ft out of the river in about 30 min. We left the hotel with an 8 mo old baby in my arms....AND I was 4-5 mo pregnant and climbed a steep embankment behind the hotel to get to a gym that was on top of the hill...
I'll never forget clawing the ground and grabbing clumps of grass and praying as we scrambled up the steep hill w the rising water close on our heels....
I had put a large black garbage bag over my baby's whole body and hugged her tight up against me. I knew she was able to breathe because she was crying and I could hear her breaths
The water was lapping at the front step of the gym when we got there.
      And FINALLY it stopped....
On the OTHER side of the gym was a deep ravine area full of mobile homes...and people were swimming toward us with children in their arms....one man who could not swim had a 1 yr old boy on his shoulders...
And the water was over the Father's head....he would take 2-3 steps and jump straight up to gasp for air.
OMG!!.... a man came up in a John boat w a little motor.
He saw the man too and went straight for him....
Grabbed the baby by his tee shirt and the father grabbed on to the side of the boat🤯
Both arrived safely.....can u say nightmare.........during Katrina, I was in my 50s, I think....i worked around the clock at my hospital in florida so that nurses from OUR hospital could go to help out over in Louisiana.
I knew a LITTLE about they were going into. Camille in Illinois was NOT Katrina in New Orleans and surrounding communities,
But it taught to seriously pray for those girls who went over to N.O.....😢

Thanks Heidi, I finally got my silicone trays today for my Crawford dehydrator. I've got 8 trays full of 32 eggs going now. You are an excellent teacher and love how detailed you get with the processes you use. I used my stick blender and do 4 at a time in the container it came with. I do it right in my sink on a rack. I've got the washed eggs on the left side. Bowl for shells, blending cup in the sink on rack and the stick blender resting on the edge with the messy end over the sink. Racks are stacked with trays on the counter and dehydrator fits on the small counter space to the left of my sink so I can easily pour the raw egg on the trays right from where I'm working. Now I'm going to get my brake bleader set up for tomorrow morning. Thanks to one of your subs I know that a pint will hold approximately 18 eggs. God IS good all the time! :)

@@kathryngagne5813 thank you Kathryn, I did watch the video and noted Heidi’s temp of 115. However,I’ve been doing my research (as Heidi encourages us to do),and watching numerous other channels’ videos and have noted varying temps by the creators and commenters, like yourself, who successfully dehyd. eggs ranging from 115-to 145 degrees who, even with such a wide range can still successfully use their eggs in baking and scrambling. Another channel says to keep between 138- 140 to keep in raw state otherwise it would be completely cooked and not work in baking . It’s quite confusing to me because another channel dehydrates at 145(which according to most channels is no longer in raw state and still is able to take the powdered eggs and use them successfully in baking breads cakes desserts etc..

I just dehydrated separated eggs (three dozen). The whites were beautiful, all sparkly, but not really white. They had a yellowish cast. The yolks were very yellow-orange. Yolks turned out fairly oily, so I haven't powdered them. I think I will use them pretty soon in custard, lemon curd, etc. The whites powdered beautifully and whipped well. They were very glossy and looked thicker than fresh whipped whites, probably because I used a one to one ratio to reconstitute them. I baked gluten free bread with them and they did fine. It was more work than I had expected--will I do it again? Maybe. Probably...lol

Dehydrating liquids a few years ago was difficult, but I bought round pizza pans at the dollar store and cut parchment paper circles for the pans. This wasn't perfect, but it did work and I didn't have to use plastic trays.

      @VWilt-so3ws 2 года назад

Could you explain. Round plastic pans, round metal pans then paper then smear the egg and dehydrate? The pans fit your dehydrator and worked. I'm assuming you have a round dehydrator. I didn't know anything solid could go in a dehydrator. I'm just trying to work this out in my head. If you wouldn't mind, what all liquids did do? Thank you vicki

    • @fadeddenims501
      @fadeddenims501 2 года назад +3

@@VWilt-so3ws The pizza pans from the Dollar Store are small enough to fit into my stainless steel, ten tray, dehydrator made by LEM. I line the pizza pans with parchment paper that I have cut in circles and make sure there is enough of an edge on the paper so the liquid doesn't go under the paper. Because the pans are small enough, there is enough air flow around the edges of each of the ten racks. If you're uncertain, start small as I did with just a few parchment lined pans in the dehydrator. I did this process because I am not a fan of plastic, unless absolutely necessary. I use this process only for liquids.

Wow Heidi you are amazing. With your expert instruction and suggestion on the silicone trays for my nesco I was successful in drying my first batch of 20 eggs. They came out perfect and is was so easy. I use a big rectangle container from the dollar store and picked up the whole tray and dumped them in without trying to just remove the silicone part. No spill and then right in the blender then the jar with a mason jar funnel. I did blend them up and dried just a bit more just to be sure. Thank you for all you share. I took your suggestion and bought the green silicon sheets. I have a Nesco. You said it will take about five eggs. That is the perfect amount. I use an 8 cup Pyrex cup or a high sided sided bowl. I only do five eggs at a time and I use my immersion blender with the whisk attachment. The high sides help to keep it from making a mess. I pulse them until they are blended and then finish with a steady speed for a few more seconds until it’s blended well. Then I just pour them into the tray. The clean up is super easy.

It is a smooth mass because they are still very cold. Immediately filled the sheets and put them in my Vita5, similar to the Cosori. Because I forgot which temperature is best, I set up this video. For me Dutch 35 celcius is the right temperature I already had it on. 🤦🏻‍♀️Just reminded me that it may not have been such a good idea to use the eggs from the freezer. Anyone have any idea if I can let them or get them out the dehydrater. Too excited and not thinking. If it's no problem haha then my advice is to freeze eggs first to fill the sheets with the eggs without any problems. It will be too nice buth who knows.

    I l-o-v-e dehydrating eggs.
I need to get the silicon trays. I have a Nesco, but considering a Cosori as a second dehydrator, so we can dry herbs and veg AND eggs/bone broth/jerky at the same time.
I only have those fruit roll up trays. Plastic (I know, I know...🙃) I have noticed that the trays warped and are not flat enough, so the eggs flowed funny and spilled, making a mess. I even used a level to ensure the dehydrator was level. But, it still worked, and we are very happy with the results. They took 10-12 hours @ 115F. But we're not in RAIN country...😁
I have a dedicated "coffee" grinder for pulverizing animal products. I have a second carafe for our blender, so I'll try that next time. And I cannot get the regular lid sealer to work. Ever. And I use the brake bleeder, exclusively. And two lids. Bummer.
Have you noticed that the white printing on the silicon tray comes off? There was a reviewer on amazon who washed the thing and it came off, leaving flecks of paint.
I want to get those silicone trays soon, to dry bone broth, vegetable slurries, and ... more eggs!

They’re great. I use them for eggs all the time. Any liquid is easier to dry with them.

Due to our new food issues, I’m wondering how to be able to store these long term.

Thank you so much. I kept dehydrating the eggs trying to get rid of the oil. Now I will just go in and put them into the jars.😘😘

I think I added a comment on the last video about foamy eggs dehydrating faster. I should have said , for me, it seems to dry faster as there are no extra wet spots I have to worry about.

Heidi ... perfect timing once again. I'll be setting up another new freezer in a day or two and will then have space to freeze some eggs. Being single, I'll take a hint from your use of the 1/4 pint jars. Seems that would be the perfect size for me. Thanks so much for sharing your information with us.

Someone mentioned (maybe in another thread) about freezing in breast milk bags. I bought a small pkg to try but haven't done it yet.
