You buy one or two things more a month. I buy freeze dried cans at Walmart monthly as these cans have a 25 year shelf life. I am widow and manage to put away food. I have a lot of these already and will continue to put more away. You never know with all this flooding and fires what will happen to the prices of food, or if we will even have much. I live in Northwest and our cherry and peaches were hit hard with a freeze, and our farmers lost those two to sell this year. You can't wait to start prepping.

I have always kept an extremely well stocked pantry. Blizzards, power failures due to summer storms, etc. can all create problems. I never have to worry, or fight stores with panic buying. I can stay home and just 'ride it out'. One storm knocked out power for weeks, and I was still okay. I also prep for my dogs. Peace of mind is also a wonderful thing. I am old now, and have been able to function regardless of whatever hits. I've practiced prudent practices for sixty years, and never regretted it.
