Cooking for one isn't fun. I am thankful for full cooked meals my neighbor shares, as they don't do leftovers. I buy them pasture raised pork from my son as a thank you and the circle continues. I am bless!❤

I remember hearing a few years ago about people cleaning out cars and finding old McDonald's fries that still looked like they were just made, weeks to months later. That scared me into really thinking about where and what I was eating. I enjoy cooking from scratch. My dad taught me how to make his spaghetti sauce when I was a teenager. I've continued to make it all these years, tweaking a little as I prefer a lot more garlic and basil, and much prefer it over jarred sauces from the store.
I was a child of the 60s and remember the TV dinners. My mom always cooked from scratch and we'd beg for TV dinners we saw advertised on television. And because our friends had them. I'm so glad my mom cooked that way instead of buying the dinners for us. We never had difficulties with our weight as children, and we were all three very healthy as children.
Unfortunately, as a working mom, I did do the easy things...fast food, processed foods, and dinners. My daughter has a lot of issues as a result of that. I hope many young women watch this video and follow your advice. When will we ever learn that the companies care about one thing...making money! It doesn't matter how much harm it does as long as their profits are high.

I love to cook! So many times, if we go out to eat, we all think if I had made that at home it would have tasted better. I'm learning more and more how to use the meat that I've canned in different ways. I know when I used my corned beef that I canned, I made Reuben sandwiches, and my son said they were the best that he had ever had!! I considered that a win. It is scary what is in the food we buy

Thank you Misty great information last night I decided I wanted to make chili its been so long I didn't remember how to make it from scratch 😅 I had a chili season pack to for the base. I looked on the back for a chili recipe 😢😢 you never guess what I read the ingredients and extra ingredients on the chili season package says contains ( bioengered food ingredients .....😢😢😢😢😢 it's( the Old El Paso ) chili Season mix . FYI these products in my day were good just goes to show you people we even have to read the labels on the spices on everything its a sad day in America what they are doing to the food chain . Please pay attention I bought this mix because it was on sale .99 cents thought I got a good deal I didn't read the label because of the name brand truth is actually I wasted 99 cents 🙃 I won't be able to eat it or donate it because I know it has harmful chemicals in it 😢 the good news is that I used duck duck go for search engine and I found a basic chili recipe and I had all the ingredients I needed I cooked in crock pot on low for 5 hours and it came out well Glory to God thanks Jesus God bless the Mac's 👆💖🙏🌹🌹

Our whole life is controlled around marketing. Corporations have people believing…they are what they drive & where they live makes them a better person. We have lost the fact we are who our character is.. whether it is a kind, loving and giving person or a miserable angry person. What we drive and where we live do not change those facts. We need to improve our Character instead of upgrading our cars and houses to make people think we are someone else. God Bless. I will be forwarding your video to my daughters about the fast food french fry disaster.

I live alone and still cook most of my meals. Even when my kids were still at home I tried to have a good meal on the table every night. I remember my grandparents rarely ate out. Except for the occasional senior meeting at their church, I don't think they ate a restaurant meal more than once a year. My grandpa had an amazing garden. I think he was one of the original subscribers to Organic Gardening magazine. Oh how I wish he was here now to help me.

Nail on the head. FDA. In the 60's I was forced to go to work due to finances. But my children and husband all had a part in the evening meal preparation. Little one set table, next one made tea and salad, husband cooked on the grill and I made sides. We sat at the table and talked with no TV on. Everyone put their own dishes in sink, later dishwasher, kitchen cleaned in a mater of minutes. But you had to plan your meals. Take meat out of the freezer day or two before, No microwave. I can still cook a big meal in under 30 minutes. (except for big cuts of meat) No I still do not have and insta pot or an air fryer. Thank you for this video.

There are many joys involved in gardening, from starting the seeds and watching the tiny sprouts immerge, to repotting as needed and finally hardening off and transplanting into the garden. Even the "chores", the weeding, the watering, the pest control are enjoyable or I at least I find them to be. But the pinnacle is preparing the first meal using the fruits of your and nature's labor. We are in zone 6a and have enjoyed all types of salad greens, including peas this spring so far and are 2-3 days away from our first Zucchini. Even as a man I find great satisfaction in cooking our home grown food. I find the entire process to be relaxing and rejuvenating. We have expanded and experimented every year and have settled on raised beds. Than for sharing Misty!

I love cooking from scratch. Husband and I haven't eaten out in about 3 years. Grow as much as I can even living in the city. Go to a organic farm to get more since I can. I have a butcher that only buys from locals and since my farmer retired I buy there because that is where he sent his animals to be processed. Really watch how much sugar and salt goes into my meals and I love to experiment with recipes. We only shop once a month and if I am out of something then I use something else. Want land so I can have chickens for eggs and meat. Will not go into debt promised God. God's blessing to you and yours

Cooking from scratch is the only way to cook and or bake! 62 now, kids grown and gone but raising my children on home cooked meals was most important and having our meals sitting at the table was a must! This was when we worked 40 plus hours a week but even if it meant me cooking and prepping a meal or several, to just heat up on mornings/nights that we were going to have a late night at work… My children helped me can jams etc..at a very young age. Now with their own children ( my amazing grandchildren) they are passing it on…

Wow! I did not know that about the potatoes. I was passing through Idaho once with my husband in his tractor trailer and made a comment about the soil. It was the darkest soil I had ever seen. I told my husband that some rich soil he said it was what they were putting on it. That was 25 years ago. Now I know he wasn’t kidding. So sad.

New Brunswick is a huge potato producer here in Canada, and people living in those potato belts have extremely high rates of cancer. The last few years, I've greatly expanded my garden. I think a big side benefit to the garden, other then pesticide free produce, is the exercise. Planting and tending a garden, tractor free, is an amazing workout! 😊

Eat one put the other three packaged properly in freezer to eat later in month. I will not be caught saying I don't feel like it, too busy, too tired anymore. Also had read an article where they were growing food with medicines and other things in our food that we don't know about. Don't know if that is true or not. What you said makes sense and is life altering. This will be topic of discussion among friends this week. Really happy you have your own time to share with us. I do my best to cook from scratch, my problem is it gets boring. I need more variety. Living in a town where I'm 30 miles away from a decent market makes it hard.

My late husband used to say that when he was married to his ex wife, he was afraid to drink water. He said that she made so many boxes foods that he was afraid that if he drank water he would dissolve. He couldn't believe that he found a woman that really cooked from scratch. His dad told him, "Boy, if you don't marry that girl, I'll marry her myself!" Maybe it was all of that down home cooking that got 'em.😂

I agree with what you’re saying, totally! We hardly ever eat out and we don’t eat many processed foods at all. NO fast food ever. Don’t like it. We buy produce and we also grow our garden. But… I do not like to cook at all. I have done cooking my whole life. (We are retired) and I do not enjoy it anymore. But we live on a very fixed income and I have to cook at home, so I do. If I had the choice, I would never cook. 50 years was enough. I am not being mean or unkind… just truthful. 😊 I do enjoy your videos. (I am also a type 1 diabetic so I eat low carb. No pasta, no pizza, no potatoes or rice. No sweets… And I can only eat 1 slice of bread per week so that I keep my numbers down.) Thank you though, for your informative channel. 😊 God bless

I think we have been conditioned not to like cooking!! We have been brain washed with negative ideas of cooking -- Not every meal has to be complicated!! Cooking is a creative outlet but doesn't have to be hard!
Mine tonight was squash and zucchini from the garden - lightly cooked in our raw butter with a touch of salt and pepper .. it was effeortless, nutritious and delicious!!
Thanks for supporting an sharing with us!

I totally agree with you. I live by myself and still try to cook my own food as much as possible. Right now I am dealing with a histamine imbalance and I am trying to cook especially now my own food so I know what is in my food. I love to cook and this has not been a problem. I don’t but much food out unless go with my church friends or family and then I try to find something to eat. Thanks for sharing more people need to hear this.❤️
