So my mechanical keyboard had gotten really dirty, so I figured it was time to clean it. And since a lot of people seemed interested in a guide specifically for the mechanical keyboard I decided to film the entire process.
If you want to clean the keyboard without removing the keys, I recommend that you use compressed air, a microfiber cloth, and some soapy water. A Q-Tip will also come in handy.

Before you even add any water, hold the keyboard upside down and tap. You'd be surprised how much dirt and crumbs will fall out. Those will be harder to remove once you use water.
Holy hell i held my keyboard upside and tapped and there was falling crumbs out good.
BRUH thank you so much for the help, my keyboard was so dirty the d key was not working, but now for some reason my space bard sounds weird
i was waiting for this do you think i should clean my mehcaical keyboard i just got i t a month ago there is a little dust on it ad in it
Sure. Keyboards get dirty pretty fast, so cleaning it now would be good. It will also be faster to clean it now than if you wait longer.
i am kinda scared will the soapy water go in the keyboard and ruin it??
From my personal experience it has been fine. But if you’re worried, you could try to just use water. I do that on a lot of my other electronics, it just takes more time
OP
Also 1. use a rather firm but not too firm, adequately long-bristled brush to get into the cracks and dislodge some of the caked-on dirt, and 2. leverage gravity: turn board upside down and tap it to allow loose debris to fall out.
Have you ever put your cordless keyboard in the dishwasher? Had a friend tell that it works great. I've never tried. God bless and stay well.
I haven't tried that. It sounds a bit strange to me, but I'd love to hear back if you end up trying it
No, but I have also never tried to take a warm bath with a plugged-in hair dryer, but that's just me.
yey thanksss!!!! i was waiting for this!!
I hope it was worth the wait!
it works on chinese gaming non mechanical keyboard?
Yes
@@Organizing-TV nice
Thank u so much I was waiting for this
No problem! If you have any other things you need help with cleaning, feel free to send me a message
Bought a new keyboard - and cleaned the old (2-3yr old one) as per video. Worked great and now I have a great-back-up all ready to go in an emergency or if someone I know needs one.
Very nice 🙌 Gotta get a compressed air can
Hey Carl! Yes, it is worth the investment if you like to keep your equipment clean
or a vaccum with a end on it so it doesnt suck the keys up
@@KobyPakka xD
great tip my kkkkkkeybbbbbbboardf is so smooooooooooooooooooothnow
cheeeeeeeeeeeeerss
Water or soapy water?
If you can get away with just water that’s best. If you use soap make sure to clean it with just water after to get rid of all the soap
is it ok without a air compreser?
Yes it is ok to not use an air compressor or compressed air cans, but it won't be as effective
#asmr hahaha
Hahaha
you are a legend
Thanks!
I saw Chinese product selling small silicone brush, wonder if it cleans well
That's really interesting. I'd love to hear how it worked if you decide to get one
Does it work with normal cloth
If you don't have a microfiber cloth, you can use a normal one. But microfiber cloths are better :)
thanks brother
No worries! I’m glad it was helpful
I have led lights in it will that damage the lights
I have led lights in mine too, and this is how I always clean it. They work totally fine. But to be safe, do as I said in the video, and make sure that the keyboard is dry before you use it again :)
Thank you for this. I picked up my first mechanical keyboard second-hand today (absolute steal, £20) and it's very dusty. I've ordered a can of compressed air, and I'll try this out when it arrives tomorrow.
Awesome! :)
could you use those hand held vaccums and replace the air compressor with the like vaccum
Vacuuming the keyboard is better than doing nothing for sure. But in my experience the compressed air is a lot more effective.
Maybe consider taking the keys off too if you're going to vacuum it
Won't water damage the keyboard?
Make sure that it's dry before you plug it back in ad you'll be good :)
Perfect.
Thanks man! Im glad it was helpful
I would be scared to ruin my 300$ keyboard doesnt this..
Wouldn't it be easy to clean with alcohol?
I haven't tried that myself. But if you do, I'd love to hear how it turns out
Did you try this? Wondering if just submerging in alcohol and letting it dry would work
Actually I don't have one of those compressed air things so is there any other thing I can use?
You can try cotton buds and a vacuum cleaner, but it won't be as effective
@@Organizing-TV OK thx for the reply
@@_rxkii4962 No worries!
How do you dry it in between the keys
The compressed air blows out the water quickly :)
Otherwise you probably need to place it somewhere warm, or a fan would probably work too. It will take a lot longer though
Can I use hand sanitizer?
I'm not sure to be honest. I haven't tried that
@@Organizing-TV Oh, Thanks
the world food is in my keyboard even dirt
do u NEED an air thing
You don’t NEED it. You could use a vacuum instead, but it won’t be as effective
@@Organizing-TV ohh okay, thanks!
Anyone knows what the air compressor does?
Picture the opposite of a vacuum cleaner. You can get small cans with compressed air too instead of the machine
@@Organizing-TV can i also use vacuum cleaner instead of air compressor?
@@malatimandal6252 sorry about replying so late. I'm on vacation. You can use a vacuum, but it won't be nearly as effective. But if that's what you have to work with, I'd say go for it
Could using soapy water possibly damage the keyboard?
It has been fine on mine. But if you're worried, using water only works decently well too.
@@Organizing-TV no u ccan also use colin water
I have a question, does this also fix some of your switches if some aren't responding? When like a key doesn't respond as soon you click on it?
Sadly I haven't had any issues with the switches on my keyboard, so I'm not sure. But it would be interesting to hear back from you if you try it.
