    Just got my first pair of Nicks Roberts today, right out of the box they are super comfortable. I have been wearing boots for almost 50 years and never had a brand new boot feel this comfortable.

    Got mine yesterday-wore them all day today and they are great. Nothing like custom-fitted boots, especially when you’ve got mismatched, flat feet like I do. I’ve been through Alden, redwing, foot-so-port-all good in their own right, but they all ultimately succumbed to wear. These Boots will only get better as they break in, no doubt.
    *Update August 2024:
    These have broken in so well and are so comfortable. I’ve had them resoled once. My favorite footwear ❤️

    I own three pair of Nicks. Best boots I’ve ever worn hands down. I have a pair of Roberts, a pair of Foresters and just recently got a pair of the Urban Loggers. All three very solid and will provide a lifetime of enjoyment. And made in America...can’t say that a lot these days.

      @kalamabrew5963 4 года назад +1

      @@edwins2396 Hello, I find the toebox to be plenty roomy for me. I did not need a pair of custom fit (vast majority of customers will not need custom fit) but I did send in a measurement sheet ahead of time for Nicks to choose the size, which I recommend doing. Mine are 9.5E. I now also have a pair of Travelers in 9.5E that I use as my primary work boot, slightly less roomy but I find them more comfortable standing on hard surfaces for longer.

    The profile definitely resembles their logger boots lol I own boots from Red Wing, Chippewa, Thorogood, Corcoran, Wolverine and so on; but a custom made pair of Nicks (or white's) is next on my list! I think I should stop "investing" in boots since I have over 46 pairs...One more ain't gonna hurt.

    I purchased a pair of The Roberts back in March of this year (2017). I stopped by Nicks shop in Spokane to get fit. Fortunately for me and my wallet, I'm an off the shelf size so no customizing necessary. I wear the boats almost every day, and then at night the get put on a Peet's boot drier. It took a couple of weeks to really break them in but they are the most comfortable shoes I own, bar none. If I have to be on my feet all day at a trade show I feel great at the end. No foot, knee, or back pain from standing and walking for 10-12 hours. AS far as the upkeep I use Obenauf's oil. A couple of coats every few months and they still look like they are brand new, a few scuffs aside. These boots are tough enough to work in but I generally use them for day to day wear at home and in the office. For work I'd look at Nicks Ranger, which was spawned the Roberts.

    One year wearing nicks builders pro, I ordered tall version non-stitched at the beginning there were stiff tough and uncomfortable I even called them to talk about why heal is so big doesn't move with my feet at , after 4:00 to 6 months I start to feel soft and light and I walk like in a slippers it is tank I am Foreman electrician on a construction site in this boots I went through two job sites jumping in the sand walking on the ice, now will be second winter I'm going on the same soul, one downside is it's heavy when people see my boots they are amazed how they look I brush them everyday to keep them clean I use boot dryer to keep them dry inside. In a year and a half period a purchased three more pairs so now I have two builder pros in black from Nicks and two pairs of a ranger boots from Frank's it's the same boot company's Frank's and Nick's.

    I bought a pair of Nicks through the Zurrick website. I love them and yet in retrospect I wish I had gone through Nicks for a custom build. I have a smaller heel and a wider toe so the heel wants to slip while the toe is tight. I’m planning on pulling the trigger pretty soon on a custom pair.
    The price tag is a little up there but PayPal credit makes it a lot easier up front lol.

    I just got my Roberts last weekend. I'm 11.5EE on Brannock. Initially my Nicks Roberts in 11EE seems to be a little long at first, but the width and arch is about perfect. It's so nice to have arch support not found in 95% of shoes out there. After wearing for a few days, the length seems fine. It's really more a of a trick of my visual perspective. Overall, the footbed is really about perfect. Around my foot, they feel a little loose, as if the laces won't tighten far enough.
    This is an easy fix, as I just got a pair of their leather insoles, which are really worth it. It fills the space, and provides more leather to mould to my foot. I'm wearing the boots to break them in without the insoles first, and compressing the footbed to the shape of my foot. After worn in a bit, I will add the insoles back in to get it to mould in even better.
    So far, I can say honestly that I highly recommend these boots.

I would also like to hear about alternatives in the same price point. I know Franks boots is offering a bit more customization options for their boots than Nicks with the same price and quality. Overall I do think you're a good reviewer and you've done a lot for the boot community on RUclips.

    Nicks are great boots because of the quality of construction and comfort. They have a longer break in period than most boots but that's due to the thick leather used, stacked leather heel and strong stitching. I own a pair of the Contender boots and they fit like a glove. You know you're in an extremely comfortable boot when you can work all day in them and then actually forget you've got them on.

    Received my Nick's Robert Boot today. Here is an honest review:
    1. Build Quality - 10 (this boot is built like a tank and will last a very long time).
    2. Cosmetics - 5 (this boot has many cosmetic flaws and major grinding marks on the front vertical wall of the soles which is very visible. The side and back of the vertical sole walls are flawless. Stitching is very nicely done.
    3. Fit - 8 (this boot stiff. I trust when the boot is broken in, the score will be a 10. The arch is very prominent and may not be for everyone.
    4. Sole - 10 (rubber is solid)
    5. Packaging - 0 (the worst packaging I have ever seen. No outer box to protect the Nick's box and name. The boots were just dropped into some thin cheap paper. The Nick's box was so dirty, I had put the box in the garage. All my other manufactured boots packaging is flawless. The box did have a built-in handle, but it was so dirty, I can't travel with it. For $30.00 dollars you would think you would get better).
    6. Customer Service - 10+
    Overall - ? (This boot is built well and I like it. Would I recommend this boot? ABSOLUTELY !!!

      Thanks Steven for adding to the conversation. It would be nice to see a better box. I was in a vintage clothing store a few weeks back and the first thing I noticed where the vintage Carolina and redwing boxes they used to showcase the boots. As men we will always be looking for a good box or coffee can for storage of our most valuable stuff in. Just like our fathers and our grandfathers. When I was a kid my dad kept his fishing lures in old metal kodak film cans. He would paint the tops with my mother's nail polish to color code them for the Chicago fishing season.

However, Nick’s told me they don’t make these hand welted single row stitch any more. They say the new McKay construction is more water tight, durable and better for the boot makers’ health. Nicks is still a production boot not matter how its made. The labour costs are just high enough to also make it hard to justify keeping inventory. Some elements can be changed, but nicks generally uses unmodified lasts. There are a lot of smaller boot-makers who make boots for about the same price, but of the same or higher quality in construction and are orders of magnitude better in terms finish.

    The first high end boot I ever bought was a Nicks Hotshot. I went to Nick's in Spokane, WA to get measured and the process was smooth and very informative. They took the time to put me in a few different boots with different arch shapes to make sure I was getting a boot that would be the most comfortable for me. Once I got the boots (smooth walnut uppers with rough out walnut lowers) I was impressed with the build quality and I started in the break in process. MAKE SURE YOU DONT CUT CORNERS ON BREAK IN. They quickly became my favorite boot. They are extremely comfortable for me and I wear them everywhere except my retail job. I'm currently looking into their traveller wedge sole for my retail job because I'm on hard surface floors all day. I cant see myself ever going back to boots of lesser quality.

      They run an entire size large from what I've heard but you should go through the fitsheet process just in case

    I've had my Nick's for almost four years. They're the 8" with a wedge sole and they're the most comfortable boots I own without a doubt, I also have a pair of Red Wing Chukkas (3141) and a pair of Iron Rangers (8114) that have been resolved with a lug sole. The break in for me took almost three months but this is because I bought them too small and too narrow, I had no idea what I was doing and bought them online. Taking them to a local cobbler I eventually got them to fit correctly and wore them for about two and a half years and getting them resolved twice before a rebuild. I contacted Nick's about what I needed to do to get a rebuild going and asked if they could change the size and width to make the boots for correctly. Everyone I talked with there was great and I got my boots back sooner than I thought I would. I can't recommend Nick's enough to people who want good boots.

      Jacob Min they are able to change the size during a rebuild??

      @Jake-h9j 7 лет назад

      Jonathan Grandt Yes they were. I went from a 9.5 D to a 10 EE, I tried to have it rebuilt to my measurements but they told me that isn't doable because I started with a stock size

    I feel like when your doing a review on a boot like this one you need to explain more about the construction of the boot & the materials. That boot is built with old world shoe/boot craftsmanship. For people that don’t know about those details that’s a great boot to take the opportunity to talk about some of those lost construction methods. Also for the folks that do know we love to hear a more in-depth breakdown of the construction of the boot & specifically about the materials. That type of cookie cutter review is fine for most of today’s cookie cutter boots. That boot deserves a bit more & is an opportunity for your boot loving followers to get a little education. Just sayin. Thanks

      I couldn't agree more. It seems when I take the time to talk about the passion of boots construction it get overlooked and underappreciated by the masses. Unfortunately the negatives comments out weight the positive ones exponentially. So my Reviews have become more driven by my own personal path in life and less about others. This why 90% of my Reviews over the last year have been about what I'm interested in when it comes to boots. Heading in 2020 I'm working on more in-depth reviews about every detail of boots that I find impressive. Thank you for shoot in the arm to move forward with this next channel killing step.

    I LOVE these boots and this brand and the ideas behind them. But boot guy youve done them a disservice all you say is good things about everything you review and theres no frame of reference for whats good and whats better

    Man, what happened to you? At one point you were the go to boot review guy and then you vanished.😢 About five years ago i bought redwings iron ranger soley based on your review. I think you were the only one back then that made a review video on them. Times have changed.

    I am a whites semi dress man but that boot looks great. A five inch version would be awesome.

    Glad to see a review on these. I grabbed a pair a while back. Favorite boots. I have a 6” pair. I should have done the fitting and stuff because after a while I realized they were slightly too large which can cause your foot to shift during break in. They’re still awesome and everyone who sees them is like “wow.”
    Mine were actually the 6” “William black” by Zurrick.
    Also you talk too much you hipster. Emoji emoji emoji emoji emoji emoji.

    Sounds like more of an endorsement than a review. You do not have to SELL Nicks boots. The boots sell themself.

    A boot review with the obligatory beard and turned up selvedge jeans. I can tell right away these boots will get a lot of wear during pub crawls and visiting artisanal delicatessens. At least show them a picture of some dirt and woods, maybe even a chainsaw. Let me know if you need an invite to my home in the mountains. It's 8700 ft above sea level with lots of cattle, horses, and woods around. There are no pubs so to speak but there is some honest need for good boots up there.

    Some day. Some ...... day. I can afford a pair of these but their fit process over the internet .... I can't even. I'd rather fly to Spokane and do it right. And I may just do it one day. I pray that hipsters look at these boots and realize just how shallow and deluded they really are. Poor poor soft men.
    And you, bootguy. Cuffed jeans? Cuffed jeans?? Shave your beard.

      It's a western heel. Probably the most masculine heel when you compare most boots having a unisex style heel when you see them in women's and men's boots.

    • @mrgt3201
      @mrgt3201 7 лет назад +3

      Ruben Soto There's certainly nothing masculine about that heel. It would be more at home on a woman's boot.

    • @LafcadioDreams
      @LafcadioDreams 7 лет назад +6

      Its a subjective matter then, i personally like the heel. Have you seen the iron rangers? it will probably suit you

      @mrgt3201 7 лет назад +3

      Ruben Soto Yes I have a pair of Iron Rangers, I love 'em. I have a pair of 875 moc toes and a pair of 1000 mile boots too.
