I just got the Red Wing "Blacksmith." Great boot. Broke in quickly. Sturdy. Etc. Might be stiff for some, but I like them that way. The Ranger he showed has stitching across the front top. I prefer no stitching. Probably the biggest difference beside the $20 extra for the Ranger. Really pleased.

I purchased my first pair of Alden 405 and absolutely love the fact that it has excellent arch support and that the combination last really supports and adapts to my heel. I’m curious to hear about other’s experience with these boots.
I have the 403s ( same boot in chromexcel which I prefer over calfskin in these types of boots) and I love them. Great arch support, the combination last fits me well, and they look fantastic.
Cheaney's and trickers for me. My Cheaney wingcap in almond grain are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn and will be able to give to one of my lads when I'm in a box. Worth every penny.
Iron Rangers are my favorite all around boot. Favorite hardcore work boot is the Red Wing Logger Max (American made version). The problem lies with all leather boots, they get sliced up big time. At least in my industry they get beat up badly. Guessing the steel toe will show before the outsole needs to be replaced. They very similar in style to the ones you showed in the hardcore range but with steel toe and insulation.
Iron Ranger guy here . I have worn many boots in my life and these are now my favorite.. I will not wear them on horseback but around heavy equipment and trucks , yeah all I will wear from now on.
I only use 3 pairs of boots. My casual everyday boots. The Iron Ranger in Copper Rough and Tough. My work boots Nick's Builder Pro's handmade custom to my feet. 8 oz oil tanned leather and the last work boot I will ever need. My outdoor, hiking boots. Wesco Jobmasters. These are a stock boot option and may do a custom pair later after I had them a while. Out of the 3 the Iron Rangers are the cheapest with the Wescos in the middle at around 450 and the Nick's the most expensive at a little under 550.
Nick build the best boots in world !! USA hands with all leather but the soles but they are the hardest boots to break in !! Mine has taken 3 months to break in !! 8 OZ leather compaired to the cheaper co using 2.2-2.6 oz. leather won't hold up 1-2 years hard work
Gotta go with Alden. No saying that they're the only boot you'll want/need but you need one pair in your wardrobe. I recommend their Tanker Commando sole in shell cordovan.
It doesn't matter how much I try to maintain any boot or shoe. Every pair I've ever tried rips apart after a years use. Especially in the foot bend area. I actually got a free pair of Keen after a months use. The toe box was separating. I have 15 EEEE feet. I have FEEEET.
I have teak brown boots from a local brand, they're good, but I made the mistake of buying a snug fit and after a while they hurt my feet, they feel tight. Thinking of buying another pair later on, should I buy a black one? My wardrobe is mostly monochromatic. Brock from ModestMan recommended Dark Olive boots for versatility, but they are impossibly rare to find, so I'm leaning on Black now. Also, I still love the love and feel of laceup high ankle service boots compared to chukka or chelsea, which I haven't tried though. I'm an outdoorsy guy, service boots fit my style. So black boots is it? Help me out guys.
I love the casual ones, but how are they holding up? I'm sure the leather and soles fine, but how is the interior? And how difficult is it to repair interior?
