I guess the audience forgot Tony wasn't physically strong enough to withstand using the infinity stones. The moment Doctor Strange held up that finger to say "this is the ONE," I started tearing up, knowing Tony wasn't going to survive.

Robert Downey, Jr.'s acting is so good here. The struggle, emotion and mustering of courage in his face is really believable, you can see his character knows he's saying goodbye to his fam. Great actor
He actually shot this scene twice cos in the first time the dialog "I'm Ironman" wasn't there and in the second time he was actually denying to shoot again cos he didn't want to be in that emotional state again, he said it himself that this character meant a lot to him and gave him so much! It'd be so hard for him to shoot the scene again with the same dialog where it all started.
They should have made that part of his character development as a dumb as all hell gag. Like imagine he had little bits in the iron man movies where he tries to snap and someone comments something like "Man tony you're the only motherfucker I know that can't snap his fingers" and then finally in this scene he snaps his fingers. Forget finding purpose in his life and going from a selfish playboy to a self-sacrificing hero, him finally learning how to snap is TRUE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Lines like that remind me how back in the 90s one of the names kicked around for a albeit maybe non-blockbuster version of Iron Man was Bruce Campbell.
The crowd cheered too in our theater too. But out of all the cheering, there was this one guy who kept shouting "No, Tony!". Then I looked at RDJ's face and knew what was coming.

Yea ik he’s black and died so it’s a huge deal Don’t see anyone making comments ab Stan Lee dying you know the man who invented all the superheroes and comics smh
When Tony said, “And I.....Am..........”, I leapt out of my chair, grabbed the empty one in front of me, whispering to myself “”Say it. Say “Iron Man””. And when he did, I closed my eyes and smiled, knowing I just watched one of the most satisfying and perfect endings to a story I’ll ever see. It began with him saying (non-scripted mind you) “I am Iron Man”, it was only fitting that the saga should end with it.
Exactly how I felt. And the Russo brothers did not think to put in the line at that moment either. It was suggested by someone else and they had to re-shoot the ending because it was too perfect to leave out.
I was in the chair ahead of you, you ass-face. I was just slouched way down eating the last bits of my popcorn. You kept shaking my chair and now I have CTE. Control your emotions next time!!!
I literally said the same thing wtf we all love the same lives except when he said “I am Iron Man” I yelled at the top of my lungs and then he snapped it was truly an incredible experience that I’ll never forget
@{Cashew} But they talked earlier about how only Hulk and maybe Thor could snap and survive. Also when Doctor Strange gave him the sign for the one outcome, Tony's expression was like a realization/ acceptance that he would die. The music went dead silent as well.
I knew he would die the second I saw the stones in his hand, and yet I couldn't help but cheer. That's how brilliant this movie is; even when I was pumping my fists in the air though I knew what would come next.
only time my theater cheered was when Cap used Mjolnir and when he said "Avengers, Assemble". The Mjolnir moment I think was involuntary, reflexive cheering because it was just so awesome and everyone wanted it to happen, and it did. I didn't mean to make noise it just flew out of my mouth. The Avengers Assemble was the one spot where we just agreed as a whole to cheer for the franchise itself and what it's meant to us. This is the only movie I've ever cheered in. All the emotion for that long and the visual and audio stimulus had my Adrenalin spiked like it was in fight or flight.
It's amazing and heartbreaking that just as Tony realizes he needs to sacrifice himself he looks at Doctor Strange so that he can confirm that's indeed the 1 scenario in which they win.
The transition of stones from Thanos to Tony is so instantaneous that we never actually get to see it happen - thus, when Thanos utters his cocky "I am inevitable" line we never realise, until the moment he snaps his fingers, that he no longer has the stones, and that somehow Tony's gauntlet has ended up acquiring them. Such a beautiful set of scenes - from Captain Marvel's failed attempt to stop Thanos, to Dr. Strange's gesture of the one future where they win being on the horizon and making Tony realise what has to happen for them to win, to Tony's classic utterance of his infamous "I am Iron Man" line from the first Iron Man film. And what makes me love Endgame the most is that the ENTIRE MOVIE was filled with sequences of scenes equally as good as this one. Bravo, Marvel, bravo!
Thetreebehindyou it’s not normally, some people get really excited with big movies like this though. a big marvel movie or big star wars movie will always have someone screaming something, which is pretty annoying
I saw Infinity Wars in a Scottish theater near Edinburgh. As me and my friends (all of us italian) saw the scene with vision and Scarlet Witch in Edimburg we started cheering in awe, but the rest of the Scots in the room were utterly silent... I mean, your damn city is on a blockbuster and you feel no emotions? I did, even though I don't belong there!
i went the second day after it was released and there were these 5 guys behind me and my best friend clapping when they saw Andrew & Tobey and then when andrew was cracking tobey's back they were like "YO! woah! that's bit fruity" it was hilarious
It doesn't matter if the audience cheer loudly or not. You only get to experience this amount of cheering in the theaters. Once the movie is no longer shown in theaters, this kind of reaction can no longer be replicated so it is a privilege to be able to experience the movie with this kind of crowd. And besides, if you want a viewing with any cheering and whatnot, you could always watch the movie later on digital.
So glad that there’s someone who didn’t edit out all of Tony’s heavy breathing and pausing in between his words. This was an earned moment and there’s just no need to skip through any of it.
It's amazing character development to see the man who'd choose to cut the wire so he could survive become the man who'd lay down on the wire so everyone else could live.
0:49 i always did laugh how he could not have known i mean he literally is looking towards his thumb he should notice no stones before snapping also there was no massive energy surge coursing through his body that we have seen everytime even from Thanos himself in Infinity War BUT.....maybe he is too high on himself.
I don't think the stones disappeared from the gauntlet until Tony put the one he took into HIS gauntlet, most likely after he got thrown to the ground, then all the stones in Thanos' vanished from his gauntlet just before he snapped, & he wasn't looking at the gauntlet when he snapped.
Does anyone else tear up seeing this scene again?this is one scene where the screaming sound of the audience really lifts the spirt more of this beautiful scene a movie phenomenal that will forever stand the test of time.
Tom Cornelius I overlooked the part that he’d even be able to wield the stones at all, let alone snap with them. No need for smartass bullshit though, I ended up just enjoying the movie.
@@Unknown-yq4dh im pretty sure he planned for this, where'd he have to make a sacrifice and use the stones, so he made that suit with a special glove to be able to hold the stones.
Hassan Syed yes but his suit already came prepared with hidden slots for the infinity stones, and he provided the other gauntlet with a release mechanism for the stones, he knew one way or another Thanos would get his hands on it and that he’d have to take the stones and use them himself, he just got the all clear from Strange
What I find funny is, as Thanos prepares to snap at 0:51, _the empty Time Stone slot is facing him_ and he should have noticed the absence of a certain _glowing green gem_ But no, he gets so caught up in his moment of power and madness that he monologues and gets his ass dusted for it xD
It's one of the details intended. The first time they fought Thanos, he already knew a lot about the Avengers and was pretty much prepared for them. The second time they met, the Thanos is from 2014 which is "9 years ago" during the final battle in Endgame and was pretty much the version of Thanos that lacks the knowledge of the Avengers, even the effects of the stones.
@@rrinnlonginus thanks in infinity war had researched all of the new members of avengers seen in the battle, while thanos in endgame is impulsive. There is a scene when thanos replies to wanda saying "I don't even know who you are"
@@ak_fx Ah yes. But that is something to be expected since both are from different point of time. Specifically talking about his competence on wielding the Nano Gauntlet, when comparing the first Thanos and the second Thanos, the former saw how the Power Stone affected the gauntlet and himself while the latter just straight away used all 6 stones and might have been too excited to learn/observe how it works since he did actually wore the gauntlet properly once until Captain Marvel interrupted.
I'm pretty sure that was intentional. In "Avengers: Infinity War," Thor and Star-Lord were so caught up in their emotions that they blundered big-time and helped cause Thanos to win. This time, Thanos is the one who gets emotional and can't help but get in one last dig, giving Iron Man enough time to gather the Infinity Stones and snap.
will be honest,in the theatre where i saw the movie those closest to my place instead of a laught or giggle (when thanos snapped but nothing happened) went into "wait, what?" or "huh?" reactions, including me

Your comment made me smile with joy.

These people really can't pick up on the fact that he's about to die.
@{Cashew} But they talked earlier about how only Hulk and maybe Thor could snap and survive. Also when Doctor Strange gave him the sign for the one outcome, Tony's expression was like a realization/ acceptance that he would die. The music went dead silent as well.
@{Cashew} Yeah, I guess.
A_Judge99 I teared up when doctor strange gave the signal to iron man
Exactly, when I first reaction when i watched this is he is gonna die if he snap
I knew he would die the second I saw the stones in his hand, and yet I couldn't help but cheer. That's how brilliant this movie is; even when I was pumping my fists in the air though I knew what would come next.
is it just me that didn’t have theatres applauding and cheering every 5 seconds?

People at least TRY to keep their voice down at every cinema I've ever been to lol.
only time my theater cheered was when Cap used Mjolnir and when he said "Avengers, Assemble".

"Shake it not pull it" - Howard Stark. Best advice given to his son.

@@RickACG I never said I did not like it though. I just said it was funny of him not to notice, it never ruined the movie for me.

The moment this happened… it truly gave everyone a split second escape from reality/the everyday to experience something great. Art
What I find funny is, as Thanos prepares to snap at 0:51, _the empty Time Stone slot is facing him_ and he should have noticed the absence of a certain _glowing green gem_
But no, he gets so caught up in his moment of power and madness that he monologues and gets his ass dusted for it xD
