Can someone tell me how this song charted at #4 on Billboard 100 but almost never gets played on radio these days and is widely not even remembered in Pop music culture?
The Brit-pop-alternative-dance sound of the early '90s has been pushed aside because it was too unique to fit alongside other trends of that decade. It wasn't grunge or "modern alternative."

@@NJGuy1973 Yeah Grebo didn't really fit in with anything else in the early 90's once alternative music really broke either in UK or USA though I think Ned's Atomic Dustbin should have still done. Blood Brain Volume is really fucking good and kept their sound current. Hell that albums still holds up fucking well.
Just one week at number 4 then plummeted down the charts after a few weeks of steady progress from coming in in the 80s. It was number 4 the weekend of 9th November 1991
@@NJGuy1973 It just hasn't aged well. It's a sound very much of it's time (which is perfectly good). EMF's 'Unbelievable' which is in the same genre has aged better so is better remembered. Not necessarily better but more memorable
I luv them. Their music helped me through college eeven with mental illness ...the music was better therapy for me such as great music such as Jesus Jones. Go now and have a Happy Daze❤😊
I was absolutely obsessed with this band. I had every cassette and a VHS tape of them playing. I would watch it everyday after school. Mike Edwards was supposed to be my husband 😂
but it's screwed up in the 90's because this song only went to #30 in airplay and #67 in sales...so no idea how it went to #4, although you're correct that it did...based on those numbers it should've barely made the top 40 if at all...
@@user-tb6iq4lb8g good ol payola! Either that or they were counting its plays & sales based on how the full album did? Which, no doubt, a lot of people got sucked into buying based on the “strength” of Right Here Right Now
@@user-tb6iq4lb8g are you sure it only hit #30 in radio airplay? I just listened to a Rick Dees top 40 from this weekend in 1991 and they were at #11 climbing up 3 spots from the week before. This song is so underrated! I bet if I check back in a few years it will be in the millions. This song was before it's time and is complete nostalgia ✌
Loved these guys from Liquiizer, this song and video, nailed it for me. Why isn't it played more? Mike Edwards, guy thought out of the box. Still sounds fresh 1990!!! Thank for posting!!!
So many good songs are "put out to pasture" and forgotten. That's been going on since the 60s especially with songs that chart peaked between 20 to 40 (and lower) Fortunately many of these gems have since been rediscovered thru TV commercials, films or somewhere on the internet. This one went to #4 on the hot 100 and should have never been forgotten by any means. Me, I bought records thru the years so nothing is forgotten here.

never heard any of this group's music beyond "right here right now" but i love this if only for the clothing nostalgia. also i don't know why or how i never noticed how fucking hot the lead singer is until now decades later.

nineteen ninety something.. house party.. back garden.. acid.. hearing this for the first time.. pretty sure i feel real.. but now that you brought it up..
This was my first 7”, after Smash Hits gave away a JJ badge. They divided my friendship group and I’m glad I stuck to my guns. Never saw them in the early 90s but have seen them twice in 2018 and 2021. Their sound bridged several genres and they were streets ahead of their time.
There’s actually two versions of this video. Watching this I was thinking this isn’t the video I remember. Maybe much music and a different version because I did find the other version right below this one. The one with the all white background and they spell out do you feel real in what I believe must be sign language
OH HA HA HA ! that classic !! They have or at least I had a cassette player phonograph [LP] player and CD player recorder. you could record your tapes and albums on CDrw/r
Skaterbun check Urban Outfitters!! A lot of the recent artist albums have been released on cassette through them. They also released cassette players 😉
I was gonna say, this isn't the video I remember from back in the day. The one I recall had the bright white background and later on the vocalist has his face sticking out an ill-fitting hole in the wall, like some b-movie ninja. :-p

So, who else is here in 2023 and still can’t get this classic gem out of their head? If so, I’d like to know …
Still can’t get this classic gem out of my head in 2024 🙌
Gosh I wish it was the early 90's all over again, I feel that was the last truly great era of pop music.
Back then you had to pay your dues and make it at radio to be successful. Now you can just post a video and go viral.
Yeah ! Would have to say those would be my Golden Oldies lolol MTV,S 120 MINUTES. THANK GOODNESS FOR YOU TUBE. HA! 80'S and 90's mix tapes.
Agreed

An 80’s guy here agreeing with you. Bands like JJ, Lush, EMF saved the 90’s, the last great era of music 🎶
Yes, I nearly forgot about this great hit around 1991, great hearing now, December 2024. 🎉😊❤

My all time favorite band even to this day! I remember the day i got my first cassette. What a brilliant day it was!
This makes me think of living in NYC in 1991, fresh out of college and looking for a job. I listened to this album constantly. 😊
The years go so fast.
Nothing can beat 90s music. Such an amazing decade.
Loved Jesus Jones one of my favourite bands of the 90s ❤
Another song way ahead of it's time. A prelude of what to expect with from social media.
This is real good music not like today's mainstream music.
no.. this is REAL (music). Period. ;)

I wish they still played this on the radio!
This song would put me in the best mood when I would hear it on LIVE 105 on my way to work. LIVE 105 played an extended version that was to die for.
My 15 yer old self had such a crush on Mike when this album came out. Cherished that cassette. All the songs sound just as good today
I remember these guys this is one of the best song/videos. I had the biggest crush (and still do) on Mike Edwards.
Me too. And I'm a straight bloke.
This was a real, real, real tune!
We tore it UP to this in 5th Grade... I thought his voice was a revelation. Like EMF! His beats and basslines,, tho😵
Exactly. Very similar to emf. I like both bands.

Hadn't heard this one for a while. I mind them being INXS's support band and this was one of their best tunes back in the 90's..
Summer XS, Wembley Stadium... 1991? Their bass blew my conkers off! Top drawer!
Yep at Glasgow!
I still own this CD. Mint condition.
Same here but on tape cassette 😲
You should play it more :-)
I have the MTV party to go volume with this on it!
Great comment!
That’s awesome, you could sell it for it’s full value of $0.01
Skate , snowboard , surf music, cool !!!!
I was 18 in 1990, and had this on tape. We were spoilt for good tunes then.
I totally agree with you
I saw Jesus Jones in 1990 at the Queen Margaret Union in Glasgow. Can still smell the smoke machine and taste the snakebite.
Early 90s were great times.... Jesus Jones and EMF were very similar sounding and looking bands back then
Another pathetic moron who confuses music with what the decade was actually like for those living in it. Get over yourself sweetie.
JESUS JONES!!!
Now there was a band. yeppers, back in the summer of '91. We all thought they was going to be the future of rock and roll.
RyanJ Rants they should have been - stupid NME

Great song. Saw it on MTV at 5 in morning.
Everytime I heard this song it reminded me of a 1960s song turned upside down... Kinda like how the 90s were the 60s turned upside down
There were several UK bands in the early 90s with a retro 60s sound, including the Soup Dragons and The Farm.
