July 11th. 49 year old Brit living in China. Chilling with a few cans of beer and listening to this. Space was on before and EMF before that. Carter USM next.
These guys and EMF rocked my later teenage years. Started wearing a lot of tie dye hoodies and baseball caps back then lol. Still sounds better than most of the stuff these days
I first heard this song back in my early 20s, back in the early 1990s. Only now have I found out that it is performed by Jesus Jones. Talk about learning something new every day. And I'm in my early 50s now.
So many memories flooded my head space while listening to this song, and a mischievous smile slowly spread across my face in the process. Excellent song. 😆😉
Oh I definitely had the memories flow back with the same mischievous look 😊 Such good time back then, feel like I’ve gone back listening to this song, only rediscovered it when I was listening to the radio the other day, why wasn’t it on my regular playlist? It certainly is now ☺️
First time I saw Jesus Jones was on No73 a Saturday morning Tizwas thing with Sandi Togsvig (Bet they don't even remember that lol). Best first Acid trip ever with them on repeat such great vibe music and I still love them just as much 30 yrs later.
Always loved this album. Forgot about it for a bit, but was listening in the car today. Sounds incredible and it's just as fresh sounding and ground breaking as it was back in the day.
This band never achieved what was anticipated... Their INCREDIBLE Songwriting and unique Sound did not catch or gain radio programmers' support. Some felt it was due to their "Religious Name"!!! Wish that such Strong Talent could or would be supported for What It IS ..... TRULY
You do know that the band released a Brand new studio album, 2 or 3 years ago. Right? Yeah you are right though, the industry is not the same as it was at the height of Jesus Jones sucess, there is hardly any GOOD support in promotion and that is even for the most established celebrity music artists.
I think sadly the name may have been a main reason why more people didn't get on board. Back in the day when I first heard and saw them, I was turned off by the name and switched off to what I heard... I should have liked them because as a kid who loved bands with 'real musicians'... But I was also and still am antireligious having encountered horrendous regilious teachers at school. The name was just like a mental barrier to me. I wouldn't be surprised if people booking bands for TV shows and creating playlists for DJs got hung up on the name too. Plus, they didn't sit neatly in the big genres of the day so if you liked dance music, or metal or pop... they were an outsider to all of those listeners. And of course along came Grunge and Britpop... they didn't fit in anywhere that the music press and TV could package and present them. It was 12-18 months maybe after I first saw a bit of them on TV before I had a proper listen, then bought the album and then had it in my Walkman cassette player for months as I cycled to and from friends houses. All my metal mates hated them but I was loving it. They brought together elements I liked from different genres into a fusion of their own making and those are the artists I've always looked out for since then. A much underrated band. As were Compulsion and Neds Atomic Dustbin to name just a couple of others... who didn't quite fit in with the main TV and Radio playlists of their day and then were drowned out by years of Grunge and Britpop.
These guys still rule, 30 years later. I can remember buying "Doubt" in Spring of 1991 and falling in love with it until a few months later when some jerkwad robbed my house. Never repurchased it for some reason. I recently joined Amazon and this song was recommended so here I am, back in the Jesus Jones fold after all these years. It feels good!
Jesus Jones had the potential of being just as big as Coldplay now are, around the world. It was just that someone in the industry could not see this vision, but there were still good people in the industry....hence....that's why the band got to support INXS,just one of the most successful bands in the world at the time.
A glorious work, Having seen your history. Shall we not revel in it? You have more songs. (as we all do). ) only the world holds them back. I miss the time, when we could just BE, and the world noticed.
Ah. The moment Jesus Jones invented VR. FAB. Atsuko the Greek, still smashing her dishes in anticipation of the Brexit Jesus Jones predicted back in 1991 😂
I believe this track is one of the GREATEST British ( modern) rock music adrenaline rushes EVER recorded. As an adrenaline rush, its up their with Blur's Song 2 and Supergrass: Richard 3rd.
Most pointless observation ever, but I just noticed something odd... at 0:53 you see a shot of the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. It must be the 1983 game, as that's the only time UCLA played Michigan. At 2:43 the director uses the same shot, but this time the end zones have been photoshopped (or whatever the 1991 equivalent was) green to cover up the team names. I wonder why.
You, gentlemen. Are a mega dose. For us smaller depression cases...(that's not bad, for all you "norms" out there.) It is now old, It still has much t say. Additionally we need to AI remake your video, man seriously. That shit? Early comp.
I knew a chap who expressed his love for Jesus Jones by always donning a black beret. However, I'm not sure that Jesus Jones were known for donning black berets.
Good morning friends around the world. Does Mike Edwards still travel the world by bicycle? How can I contact him? If anyone knows, please let me know.
I am starting a youtube interview channel and are wondering if one of you guys if not the whole band would like to participate in a youtube interview through skype, facetime or the like?
If anyone can identify the opening drum riff that is sampled in this song, you'll have my deepest respect. Just want to see who knows their music history
THE PERFECT ROCK MUSIC LYRIC: It is what the rock lyric is supposed to represent: Alienation and TOTAL BELIEF, ( if possible), ALL TOGETHER IN THE LINE, LYRIC VERSE. The Yin and Yang approach working in the song's lyric verse.
envy99976 yep and on my playlist as we speak with a couple of other treacle from this amazing band. Remember buying this album on cassette when it first came out as well 🤔🙏👍😎
Every time I hear this song it takes me back to a place and no words could explain how good it feels.
Dude. I came when I read that 😎👊
Still listening in 2024. This is the song that sold me on these guys.
April 24 baby yeah 😎

I forgot just how good this Jesus Jones album was. Brings back so many great memories. I miss the 80s & 90s with all my heart...
I don't Doubt it.
These guys and EMF rocked my later teenage years. Started wearing a lot of tie dye hoodies and baseball caps back then lol. Still sounds better than most of the stuff these days

Jesus Jones, International bright young thing, love this song, still do, 30 year's later, great stuff.
This song was top of the pops when I was 18, and now my son is 18. I want him to be an international bright young thing🎉❤

2024 and still cool 😎
Always loved this album. Forgot about it for a bit, but was listening in the car today. Sounds incredible and it's just as fresh sounding and ground breaking as it was back in the day.
Everything from back then sounds better than the bullshit they put out today.
Jesus Jones!
One of the Best Bands! ❤
My high school graduation: The #1 song in the US that week was "More Than Words" by Extreme, however, this was my favorite song that week 👍
This song blows more than words away
Never really liked that song as it was too mainstream & a lot of people already liked it.
You have impeccable taste in music Susan. Way more than the rest of the record buying public. Time to make the world swing

Great music
Such a great song and band!!
I always mind these guys supporting INXS back in Glasgow...crazy times back then...

The song sounds like B-52's Roam and the music video is similar to B-52's Roam.
That cannot be a coincidence
An album i grew up with
Love this! did you have a video that was with people in latex?
The intro drum part is a sample from Birthday by the beatles...
Danny
Best one album wonder I absorbed. Fantastic group ❤️
the backing beat to this song here has a bit of an early 90s feel to it a little
This is seriously like going in a Time Machine

Hello jesus jones, its your sister Sandy Jones
Proper indie...
Why was DOUBT an unusual album worth a fortune now?
If anyone can identify the opening drum riff that is sampled in this song, you'll have my deepest respect. Just want to see who knows their music history
If I didn't want to start a copyright war, I'd say it was lifted from Free by the Soup Dragons (and speeded up too)
Extremely late to the party!! It’s a sample of James Brown Funky Drummer 😄
@@alx78324 defo James Brown. They all were back then
