    unfortunately it didn't work for me.

      Did you purchase OEM new strips from a source like www.shopjimmy.com ? It's usually recommended to get new ones over refurbished or used to prevent having to repair it a second time.

    Got a hold of an LG 43" 4K, and no picture! But there is sound when the unit is powered on. When there is no audio signal coming into the unit, should you hear white noise? I didn't find any manual control buttons on the back or edges (just the small on/off button on the middle bottom edge). I suspect the backlight LEDs. Thank you
    Also if a small section of the screen is broken, can that keep the screen from coming on? The broken area is about 4" long & 1" wide (or so), at the upper edge of the screen. Thank you 🤓

    Good work. You shave some steps and hours off of the way I do it. Which means faster repairs and lower rates. I think people will like that.
    If I may offer some advice on your camera positioning. In a technical instructional video such as this a key reason for viewers to view it is to learn how to do what you are trying to teach or demonstrate. While the running dialog is important in explaining what you are doing and why, this is after all a visual medium and therefore it seems a shame to let slip such a perfect opportunity to also show what you are doing. When you have the camera pointed in your general direction but not on the work you are doing, you are forcing your verbal description of the procedure to provide all of the detail that the viewer will need to understand what you are doing.
    If you would instead focus the camera on the work piece you could make full use of both the sound and video modes of getting your information out. At 19:25 you say something about "if you break them that's the end of the TV." With this warning it seems especially desirable to have a good view of what is being done to avoid breaking them. This is only one example but it seemed perfectly on point.
    Just one old engineer's advice, but you do you.

      This was more of a test run of the camera. We do not have a high end and multi view camera to make it easier. In the future I may do this when it comes time for a future video on our business channel.
      This was more just a run to verify the camera would not skip and lag over a long period of time to test the internet. In the end the television was revised internally a second time and was made functional... but off camera.

    I have an XBR-65X900C that has the 4 blinks problem. I got it to start up and mostly work by changing the LD_ERR pin 2 to pin 9. The previous owner put it in unconditioned storage for a year (causing thermal expansion of the solder joints) after which it stopped working. If I keep it down to brightness level 6/50, only one LED is bad, but turn it up and the rest start flicking on and off. Could I take out the backlight strips and hit them with a heat gun/hair dryer? I'm not skilled at soldering so I'm not sure if that would ruin anything with the flux or not. Honestly I think I would just wait out until I'm ready to spend the money on new backlights and then try this first.

      @zlw1  2 года назад

      If one of the backlights is bad, I'd replace the entire strip assy. Better to start from a working condition than an partially working unit.

    I saw a better way to do it as i was researching for some time before doing it. While it is with display down you can unclip the white bezel and remove only the metal chassis. This way you will not touch/remove the whole display package with the LCD/diffusers/QD/etc. You can actually break the LCD this way, have the different layers messed up and have a lot of problems later adjusting them if you at all manage to not break the LCD

    • @lukasgayer5393
      @lukasgayer5393 Год назад +1

      This can be done with some TVs but not with this one comfortably, since the metal chassis is clipped to the white bezel in such a way that you can only unclip it facing up, not down. At least my TV has it this way.

    I have A Sony XBR75 910C that has error 4 blinks. I understand that the solder gets weak or led fail in these. What is current cost to replace LED strips, considering I can even find them for my set? Thanks much for your time and sharing your info.

    • @zlw1
      @zlw1  2 года назад +1

      If you can find the strips, usually most techs will charge ~$250-300 for labor to install them. You'll need two techs due to the size of the unit.
      4x flash means LED driver failure/LED voltage protection [LD_ERR]
      Error detection of the I2C communication between the Main device and the LD IC.[BCM_ERR]
      So it may not necessarily be the LED Strips causing the failure, rather the Main PCB or the LD PCB.
      encompass.com/item/10659463/Sony/1-895-791-11/ (FOR THE LD PCB)
      encompass.com/item/10383345/Sony/A-2072-545-A/ (FOR THE MAIN PCB)
      Note if you have to change the MAIN PCB, you'll need to download firmware from esupport.sony.com for the xbr75x910c on a 8GB or less sized usb drive and follow the instructions to install it on their website.

      @@zlw1 It would be nice if it were one of those boards you mentioned because I looked for LED light strips for my model and didn't have luck finding any, I found them for 75X900c & 75X940c but not my 910c...go figure. 😆

    • @zlw1
      @zlw1  2 года назад +1

      @@andrewtreinen837 It’s likely that the x910c would work with the x900c or x940c… You would have to open it up to verify if you cannot find a set on the internet, whether in or out of stock. If you can find the service manual for the x910C, it’s possible you could trouble shoot without guessing.

    I did this repair and the same thing happened to me. It was dark and the picture was messed up on one side. Backlight error was fixed but now I have a new problem. What did you do to fix it?

    • @zlw1
      @zlw1  2 года назад

      Applied some White Sony Tape where it was to correct the deformity. It acts as a reflector where as the stickers I was using didn't send the light into the right spots. I had to order it from encompass, but it did the trick, after another 1.5 hours of pulling it apart and putting it back together. I did another one of these about 3 months ago and was able to salvage the tape that was in there and rebuilt it in about 100 minutes.

    At 25:23 the clear sheet you take out, I did not mark mine top and bottom! Is this piece directional sensitive? Can you tell the difference to determine which is top or bottom?

    • @zlw1
      @zlw1  Год назад

      I haven't looked at this set since I fixed it a while back. But if it's the clear sheet that is white, and not toned differently on one side, you should be fine. Just make sure you line it up properly and have the edges fit where they have to.

    I was completely cringing when you removed the back from the panel. All the light filters and polarizers falling to the floor and you nearly stepping on them. I could swear the screen lifted as you lifted the back and I could swear I heard the panel crack.. Now there will be dust stuck to the polarizers and there will be little spots all over the screen once the set is done. You'll never get all of that completely cleaned off. there's always 1 spec of dirt in there somewhere that will affect picture. It appears the best way to remove the panel is to take out all the screws and then tape the frame together. Then Invert the tv so the panel is facing up. You then remove the tape and suction cup the panel off and laying it on a flat clean surface. then tape together all the separate polarizers at the corners and remove them all at once and set them aside. then you can complete the lamp exchange., Your method on this set is fraught with danger of cracking the panel at every turn.

    I am sorry but producing a video takes some understanding and skills in showing what you are doing to the camera which is your audience and all of what I have seen is what a producer edits out. It takes days to make a short 19 minute video without the things that do not belong in the video, like answering the phone, etc..

      Realistically to do this job, the strips can run around 60-150$ but the labor would be something more closer to $350-400. I will not be doing anymore of these because I cannot get the assemblies that rip apart that buffer the light into the panel.
