I found this a long time ago, and have used the information shared by your team to all of my clients. Just had to find this video again so I can link it to my website! Sometimes I have clients that want to know the makeup of the chemistry, and this is perfect for those that are curious and want these kinds of details!!! So, thank you!
As an accredited shop I would love to get an updated version of the video brochures you guys made that has this video in it, people are often impressed when I hand them a video brochure.
Love these deep dives!! The explanation of the composite chemistry was fantastic. I would love to hear from Lee about the window of time for when Exo is applied over CSL or csu to function properly. Can you actually lose performance if you apply it too late after the base layer application?
Thank you for the wonderful explanation about these coatings. I just finished putting the eXO on my car after a long prep to get the crystal light serum applied. I was surprised the last time I used this product Itseemed like it stayed cleaner from dust longer, and your explanation helps me understand that now. Again a wonderful explanation, thank yourbuddy in the white lab coat!
Great video. How important is it to keep out of sunlight and rain for the first 12hrs.. for example is sporadic weak sun leaking around awning would that hurt?
Do you have a video on how to apply both coatings together please? Anything different or how long between coating etc, be real handy thanks. Nice video to understand why both.

I love videoes like this. Things got clearer, but also a little bit confusing. Is CSL a hydrophillic coating which requires a topper if you want the surface to be hydrophobic?
CSL does have some hydrophobic properties but these do die off after a while and the coating then becomes hydrophilic. It is for this reason we always recommend applying EXO over the top.
We do not recommend applying any wax over the top of EXO as this may clog or interfere with the hydrophobic properties. All you need to do is wax the surface and apply a spray sealant every now and again.
Great explanation. Question. Are they acid repellent too? For example, a dried bird poop leaves acid marks on car body and they are hard to remove in some cases. Will the two layer ceramic protect from those acid marks as well?
In my experience most "bird poop" marks are not from the acid, but it from heat Bird poop acts like a shadow on the paint - Heat from sun heats up surrounding area more than the area covered with poop, hence the outline is visible usually but not much if anything in the actual centre Not always, but most of the time, this is the cause for bird etching.
Great question. They are resistant to chemicals in the range of pH2 - pH 13. In some cases it is not acid it is the heating (and contraction) of the paint around the bird poo mark. In most cases you can use hot water to remove the stain by reflowing the paint - there is a good video showing this here ruclips.net/video/Qs7F0QJ1AoA/видео.html
Hi, if I do CSL and can't to Exo for a couple weeks, is that OK? I only have time to do one before a trip. If you could only do one of these, would it be CSL?
I applied the EXOv5 thinking it was a ceramic coat onto my semi truck. It lasted a month so far, which is far longer than ceramic coatings I've tried. I have 4 layers on it. What's the easiest way to remove the EXOv5?
Polysiloxanes and polysilazanes both offer similar properties. It is not a black and white, one is better than the other answer. How the coating performs is dependent on the nature of reactive side groups (functionality), the particle size distribution and quantity of the silica nanoparticles, and the polarity of the carrier solvent. Gtechniq has developed our ceramic formulations, based on the above, to optimise ease of application, hydrophobic function, dirt repellence, cleanability, scratch and mar resistance, and durability.
We advise applying EXOv5 to one small panel at a time. for larger panels you will want to split them into 4 or 6 sections depending on size. You can use Ultra as a stand-alone product but Ultra topped with EXO will give maximum performance as explained in the video.

A great explanation of the bare bone basic theory principles of how each coating differentiates, while also making it engaging for a layman like me.
Glad you enjoyed it!

If you shoot the U.S team an email they will look into this for you.
This is quite compelling 🤔thank you for the food for thought! Lee’s explanation on the differences between siloxanes and silica molecules was great
Glad you enjoyed the video. Lee has an excellent way of making complex science easy to understand.
Good video guys. Always nice to listen to detailing content.
More of these please!

Awesome, my customers will find this interesting!
Very good explanation. Truly appreciate the deeper level of this. Take my upvote.
Excellent explanation, will be putting a coat of Exo on top of my light coating 👍
Appreciate you and your whiteboard!
Awesome video 💪
Great explanation for my simple brain 😂 keep up the great content 👌
Finally, I understand! Thank you for the "excellent" explanation. Moving forward, we will apply a top coat of Exo V5.
Glad it was helpful!

Sorry can you just clarify, has CSL been updated as well as EXO V5?
CSL is still the CSL we all know and love, no update as of yet!

What’s the perfect amount of time to wait after applying csl to apply exo?
Great explanation.

Hi, if I do CSL and can't to Exo for a couple weeks, is that OK? I only have time to do one before a trip. If you could only do one of these, would it be CSL?
That won't be an issue. Just make sure you thoroughly wash the car first and re panel wipe the surface.
Great video. So this basically means you need or should reapply EXO every 2 year?
Yes, that is correct although the 2-year claim is based on a daily driver. If the vehicle is only driven occasionally, the EXO may last longer.
I applied the EXOv5 thinking it was a ceramic coat onto my semi truck. It lasted a month so far, which is far longer than ceramic coatings I've tried. I have 4 layers on it.
What's the easiest way to remove the EXOv5?
To remove EXO you will need to polish the panel. Would recommend leaving it to wear off naturally then polish and re-apply a coating and EXO again.
thanks!
I applied gtechniq crystal serum light today can i apply Exo 5 the next day or two?
Yes, you can.
Exo V5 over C1? would that work.. and secondly, could Exo V5 be used for the PPF or is it Halo V2 only. TIA
EXO over C1 does work, you just need to leave it 4 hours before overcoating with EXO. For PPF we recommend HALO.
@@GtechniqUK Thank you👍
If the ceramic coating chemically bonds to the paint, then why would it be gone after 5 years? Do the chemical bonds slowly pull away over 5 years?
It will abrasion that removes the coating - things like washing, drying detailing etc.
Which one is the base and which one is the top coat?
Crystal Serum Light is the base and EXO is the topper
Is there an advantage of polysiloxane to polysilazane?

@@GtechniqUK Thank you for the detailed reply. The content with actual chemists is welcome.
您好,請問ultra使用靜止超過4小時之後,可以再塗ExoV5嗎?
Yes, but we don't advise leaving it for more than a day for optimum performance
