Jake Owen - East Bound and Down ft. The Schwab Firebird (Official Music Video)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 май 2022
- Nothing like combining a few of my favorites together…music, classic cars, and golf. Had way too much fun teaming up with Charles Schwab to cover and make a video of Jerry Reed’s massive hit East Bound and Down. We even had Jerry’s grandson playing drums!
We chose this nostalgic song to celebrate the prize that will be awarded to this year's Charles Schwab Challenge winner - a '79 Schwab Firebird - built to honor the year that Schwab went all-in on technology.
The Charles Schwab Challenge is the longest-running event on The PGA TOUR to be played in the same location. It is played at Colonial Country Club in Texas every Memorial Day weekend.

Jerry is looking down smiling right now ❤
Long live the Snow Man
And Fred!
I doubt it. Just because he did it doesnt make it good
@@NickRangerthe absolute lack of an A model Kenworth guts the premise of the whole song.
amen
Damn, son. When the black Trans Am passed the blue one I got goosebumps.
"Player recognize player."
That was an early 70s model
Well shit, Texas looks cool. But hey there’s always Mexico.
@@KSW_HeavyChest Yeah. Just about EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE has a thing for cars!
WTF is WRONG with you
Jerry Reed, Burt Reynolds, Hal Needham, and Jackie Gleason are smiling down from Heaven. Jake Owen nailed it! Now that’s country music!
And we all know what Jackie Gleason said. And we all know that he still couldn’t say it right 😂
I had no idea they were all dead…
That a big 10-4 right there good buddy
@@JNB4L "what we're dealing with here, is a completly lack of respect for the law"
@@codydonovan7356 Yes, sadly we've lost them all. Jackie Gleason in 1987, Jerry Reed in 2008, Hal Needham in 2013 and Burt Reynolds in 2018.
Amazing how a 40+ year old song can bring a smile to my face. 😁😃
And a few tears as well my friend..😢😢
Exactly
☺️ ❤
Still tear up missing Jerry and Burt 😢.... Nice remake but nothing will ever be as good as the original. Ive met Jerry and Burt both, nobody will ever show off like they did.❤.
Smoky and The Bandit was one of my favorites back then. Kids today missed the best of Hollywood. Today, I don't even turn on a TV, Hollywood is dead..
Long live Jerry Reeds music!! Nice job!!
You can't beat classic music whether it's country, pop, rock or hip hop. Thanks Jake for this honorable cover.
This takes me back to 1977. Everything seemed so laid back compared to today. There again, i was only 3. My younger brother and i took the keys to my dad's Ford Capri and we started doing donuts in the road outside our house. Great days.
At 3? Yes, I believe you.
HKP, awesome name and cartoon ❤
Great cover. Can tell the guitar player grew up on Jerry Reed and just nailed this after many years of playing along. Want to hear him do Amos Moses next
Really
Almost positive that is Tom Bukovac aka "Uncle Larry", an amazing session guitarist, he has a RUclips channel called Homeskoolin.
Telecaster sound from a Les Paul????
I was singing this the other day to my 6 month old son. My wife had never heard it. I was like, your dad taught me everything I know about cars and you've never heard this? So I played this for her today after it came through my feed. Thanks Jake for the awesome rendition
Your son will grow up with great taste in music!
Well, how'd the Mrs. like it? 🤔🙆♀️🎼🎶🪕🎸🎙😉
Jerry reed would be proud! Awesome job!!
I agree
And Burt Reynolds for that matter
Yes he would. Great job Jake, shout out to Brother!
Sure would 👌😊👌🤘🤘🚛🚔🚛🚔
Dude snowman would be honored beyond delight to know this , ima add this to my collection when i get a chance to ima have 3 versions of this now
It's nice to see people still love this awesome song.
Love it 🤠 My late husband drove a semi and he, myself and our children could watch Smokey and the Bandit over and over. Good Memories. I miss him 😢
Bless you. Hang in there and keep those memories close by.
@@brandon-be8rm Thank you, May God Bless You and yes I will carry the memories forever in my heart 💙
Fans, how are you doing?thank you for liking my page and my music God bless you

Jerry Reed is smiling down over this cover. Great job loved it
This is a masterpiece a mix between old and new Jerry Reed's classic brought back to life. LETS HAUL ASS!
Love the User and pfp
Long Live The General! 🇺🇸
@@ZarathosTheSpiritOfVengeance Thanks brother🤙
that jerry reed 8-track was a hilarious touch
Now this is how a a remake is suppose to go. You did amazing!
Thanks Jake for this awesome video! In today's world of pop music being passed of as country music by the music labels you sir are a breath of fresh air!
I've loved Jerry Reeds music and I've grown up watching Smokey and the bandit one and two but this is officially my favorite version of the song the snowman and the bandit would be proud
This is a great tribute to one of the greatest Noles there ever was. Great job Jake.
The Good old days of smokie and the bandit
The classics never end or never fail either
Burt Ryanolds
Sally field
The good old memories
Love that iconic firebird as well
My dad grew up watching this movie
🕊️ Of ✌️
So sad that Sally went "woke". She has severe TDS.
Run fast Snowman & Bandit wherever You are Dudes.❤🙏
That was awesome!! I'm glad he didn't try to jazz it up like most singers do with a cover of an older song.
Uncle Larry with the fantastic guitar solo! Wooo!
I still blast that song as loud as i can when I listen to it. Even if its just a cover its nice to hear that someone in Nashville still knows what country is.
There's a lot of people who still know what country is in Nashville. They unfortunately have to play crap it get a gig. It's heartbreaking.
Repping the Larry Fleet hat!! One of the best guys to listen to in concert
He paid homage to original by showing
engaging automatic transmission then later in the song it shows him shifting a 4-speed transmission. How many of you caught that in the movie back in the day?
Whoa! Never caught that! Good stuff man!
Also the white and blue car was a 77 yr model however the black one is a 76,, just thought it odd they used a black 76 with the hurst 4 speed, my mom had a 76 just like in the video,, moms always been a speed freak,, lol
@@paultyler4324 pretty sure blue and white was a 79. Both beautiful cars.
@@paultyler4324 the blue is a 79 or possible 80, the black is anywhere from a 74 to 76,and neither of them are what was in the movie which was a 77
And the cop car ain't even a Bonneville either I think its a polara (Mopar) like roscoes car off the dukes of Hazzard
I tell ya what. I can't stand it when someone takes a classic song like this and puts their own spin on it and fuck it all up. You, sir, did a fantastic job. Great, solid cover of a tune that should never be messed with.
This is pretty good, sounds like the original. Love that movie!
That’s because he’s been auto tuned.
@@PDMcG1091 autotuned carburetor lol
My grandpa sang with jerry reed back in the day, I actually have some old 45’s of them and maaaaan jerry would be proud of this cover.
Yeehaw!! Jerry and Burt are smiling down!!😁🤘
Jake.... Jerry Reed would be really proud of this one!!! You did it right son! Great job!!!
Way to give new life to one of the best songs of the 80s
That is one beautiful car. Brings back so many memories of watching Smokey and the Bandit. My parents had a Trans Am that was black with gold just like the one in the movie. The car was in a shop when it caught fire, so we lost the car.
Oof, sorry for the loss ☹️
Awesome vídeo...i LOVE 70's era..movies..Cars ,attitude...💙👍😁💙
Jerry's grandson on drums!? Legit as it comes man! Thanks for the amazing cover... respect!
Great job Jake! Always loved Smokey and the Bandit and the fact that Charles Schwab is sponsored in this makes it even cooler.
One of my favorite songs from a movie ever.
Love it! In 1975 I was 8 years old and went to the drive in for the first time and saw Smokey and The Bandit! Love it then and still.do!😂😂
This is a great version of Jerry Reed's Classic Song. Love it!
Brought a tear to my eye 🙏❤️🌴🍀💯 and at the same time a BIG SMILE. GREAT JOB
Good job Jake. And his little Firebird R. I. p. Jerry.
Hey there, thank you for your love and support and this beautiful comment, I'm personally reaching out to fans to appreciate them .
Where are you watching from?
Best cover ever. Nothing fancy, nothing added. Only difference was the singer and Jake did great!!!
Jerry Reed was my 1st concert in Waco, Texas at age 5. My dad took me, then afterwards took me on stage to get Jerry and the bands autograph on a picture of Jerry. Was a great concert
Hello there Phes it's nice meeting you here
Hi, thanks for being a good fan of mine your comments attracted me to you. And keep supporting while I bring more entertainment to your way

Two beautiful 'birds and a great cover of East Bound and Down...love it!
Awesome job Jake Owen, great job on bringing back. An awesome song, from one of the best movies I grew up on.
While no one will ever surpass Jerry Reed, this is a very good cover of Eastbound and Down and a great music video that pays tribute and respect for the film. Love that they used 2 Trans Ams for this video, the custom Schwab Firebird and a black and gold 76 Trans Am with a 4-speed! I think Burt and Jerry would be smiling.
THANKS for bringing back the memories of the movie and jerry reed ,jackie gleason and of course the bandit burt reynolds!!!
Classic homage to a timeless classic. Hat Tip.
Bo Darville approves.
Hell yes!!! Bad ass american classic!!!
Awesome, thanks and keep those old Pontiacs rolling!
The bandit is burning up the road once again
" I'm in high speed pursoot of a black trans am ........HE'S ALL MINE .......SO BACK OFF ! " B.T.Justice, Sheriff
A classic song among classics. All hail Mr. Burt Reynolds!!! All hail Mr. Jerry Reed!!! All hail the one and only Jackie Gleason!!!
And the man himself Mr. Hal Needham for bringing those three together for one of the greatest films of all time.
How can you not drive a little faster when listening to that song! Great cover!
Sounds good as the original!!! I seen the movie
My bus driver was an Owens and she was the best! I enjoy doing what they say can’t be done whenever I can.
I had chill bumps the whole song. Going on my Playlist on top of the page. Awesome simply Awesome.
Jake Owens is easy on the eyes!!!
Man Jake Owen I love it badass tribute
Absolutely nailed it!!!
Great tribute to jerry, burt and a fantastic legendary movie that we all love.
I'm adding this to my playlist.....great cover!!
Was bad a** back when, its bad a** now.....love this song!
Still love that movie!
OMG, what a great video. Love the 79 Trans-Am and this is a great remake and video. I hope they release this on Spotify.
You gotta cover more Jerry Reed songs, that was spot on brother!
Wonderfull video !!! súper !!
What a great cover. Loved this movie. When it came out I was like 11 or 12 years old. I bought the soundtrack album and really started listening to more of Jerry Reed's music, just because of the movie. Great video to go along with it !!
You know the spirits of Burt, Jerry and Jackie were in the car with him.
Great cover.
Bobby???
Awesome video thank you sir for remembering this great movie and it's incredible actors.
I loved my blue 78 Trans Am!! She was fast!!
Yeeeeee haaaaaaa 🇺🇸🤟
Funny how this has a “translate to English “ button 😅
My grandfather John Siroonian , founder of Western Wheel made the snowflake wheels for the trans am. Such an awesome film to be associated with
An amazing modern interpretation of such a classic 80’s movie song
Been saying it since 2009, Jake Owen is the man!
There’s nothing like the feel of a firebird pontiac flying down the roadway! I miss the one I drove for years! Jake you look even cooler in the blue one! Awesome video & song of you East bound & Down! The Lord sure spent more time on creating you to give you awesome talent and so handsome! Always a fan of you! 👏💯❤️😻👋
Hello fan , thank you for supporting me & my music . May God continue to bless you
Where are you watching from
Awesome
Very good job ! I grew up watching this movie my mom took my brother and I to see this movie when it first came out and we still watch it too this day
LOVE IT!!! The "bridge out" sign really got me giddy because I love that scene!
No words, but I can see Burt and Jerry laughin' it up, and Fred howlin' away. Cledus: "Oh no...Bandit, listen to this... You know who that is? That's Mr. Evel Knievel. He snuck in my back door when I wasn't lookin. You better flip-flop back here and give me a hand, son. Or, we're gonna be in a heap of trouble..." Bandit: "Hold on to Fred, Son. Here comes the cavalry..."
Looooove this!!! First car at 16 was a new ‘81 maroon T Top Trans Am. Brought back some grand memories ☀️
Hell yeah!! Now that's country music! ❤️ Jake Owen needs to put out more music like this 💯
Hey, Jake...Great cover of this iconic song. I bet ole' Jerry Reed would be proud!
From the good old glory days! Great job Jake! Loved it!
Loved the Jerry Reed 8-Track reference!!!!
Merry Christmas. It really doesn’t take much to have it all Merry Christmas ❤️🎶
Awesome video, brought back some good feelings and great memories of 1988, 20 years old, 18 year old girl friend, awesome tunes and a black 77 firebird!!
Makes me miss those simple times
Great tribute kept it true to its original energy and spirit. Great job.
I love quoting "We got a long way to go and a short time to get there" ever since I was a kid.
Jake did an amazing job here!
Best video of all time
I'm not even a Septic, but this is tremendous.
Excellent work everyone.
AWESOME!!!!!!
Cool! Bandit!
Memory lane at its finest. Thanks for the splendid refresh flashback. Nice, well done ehhh :-) Cheers from Canucksville :-)
Good music will never die when there are such great artists carrying the torch forward.
