Actually it wasn't fun. They had a ridiculously low budget and short time period to get it finished. There was at least one near fatal incident involving the scene where the cars go through the area where the children are playing. The retakes made for crazy long days. Funny. Bought my 79 Trans Am in 1987. Same Black Special Edition as the Bandit.😆 Smokey and the Bandit is still my favorite movie. Ironically, a very close second is Vanishing Point (1971). And yes, I currently own a 2014 Challenger RT Redline (in White of course).😂
RIP Burt, hope you and the Snowman are giving it hell to the man upstairs. what an amazing film, No CGI needed. They don't make them like this anymore. This film and the Blues Brothers are untouchable Classics.
One of the best movies ever. Here in Germany it's called 'Ein ausgekochtes Schlitzohr' which means something like 'A crafty rascal'. The German dubbing is funny (they even put some additional jokes into the actors' mouths). And Jerry Reed's title song is still catchy. Long live Smokey, the Snowman, Frog and the Bandit. And Junior :)
In Poland it’s called “Mistrz Kierownicy Ucieka” which means something like “Master of the steering wheel runs away” Gotta admit that it’s loosing something in translation that title 😂
The Movie is now iconic for its excesses as well as it's Devil-may-care insouciance that just drips off Reynolds. But he screwed up. He had the flying Nun in his lap and couldn't pull the trigger, to his later regret. You don't EVER let the right girl just walk. NEVER. You can spend the rest of you life watching her make someone happier than you'll ever be again if you're not careful.
I grew up in the 70s and I've been here all the way up to 2023 and I can honestly say you today's movies will never ever compare to this....Consider yourself lucky to have been raised back in the day I love this movie and I'm not ashamed to say it

@@wayneanderson8034 I hear what you're saying. And to be fair, I only entertained the idea of being an OTR trucker when I was 6 to 7years old. Then reality intervened. To date, I can change a tire and parallel park like a champ because I know the size of my vehicle and have very good spatial orientation, thanks to my Dad who was born in Jamaica 🇯🇲. Also, my Dad was the one who introduced me to Smokey and the Bandit, 007, and all of Clint Eastwoods ouvre- the Speghetti Westerns and all the Dirty Harrys. The last Clint movie that we watched together before my Dad passed was 'Unforgiven'. He dug that. God bless the Dead.

Im 22 i get funny looks from older people when im cruising down the road blasting this song and singing along to it they look at me like its super weird that a 22 year old would be listening to a song from one of the greatest movies of all time🤷♀️
darlin' , I'm what you might consider an 'older people' & if u came down the road blasting this tune, I'd give ya a big 'thumbs up' & a blast of my horn ... Truck On!
When this movie was being filmed, one afternoon, on the school bus in Clayton County,Georgia with other traffic, right outside of the restaurant The Old Hickory House, we had to wait until the filming was finished, including Burt Reynolds, Sally Field and Jackie Gleason(coming out of the restaurant with the toilet paper trailing from him😊). There was the director sitting in his chair that was raised up from the ground, with a bullhorn to his mouth, then all of a sudden people were flying out of the restaurant. This happened when I was in the 8th grade, and have never seen anything like it again.
Georgia native here myself. i'm only 21 but i consider this to be the greatest movie of all time and i still adore the fact that all of this was shot in Jonesboro, Forest Park, Mcdonough, parts of Fayetteville, Helen, etc. i've visited the filming spots plenty of times in Jonesboro and i am always starstruck to know that Jerry, Burt, Jackie and Sally all stood where they did in those spots. 😬
Cooter (Ben Jones) was also in this movie. He is at the very beginning when Big and Little Enos ask where the Bandit is, He says "haven't seen him". John Scheinder is also somewhere in the film, I believe at the race, but I have never been able to find him.
I've noticed there are several shared names between this movie and Dukes of Hazzard. -Here you have Big and Little Enos Burdette. Then you have Deputy Enos from DOH. -Bandit's real name is Bo, which is also the name of one of the Duke boys. -Snowman's real name Cletus, and you have Deputy Cletus Hogg in DOH.
That makes four of us. I don't even know how my dad discovered this movie since he barely speaks English but I'm glad my parents brought me up on this movie. God Bless!
When this movie came out in 1977, I saw it in the theater at least 6 times inside a month. About the 4th or 5th time I saw it, there was a retired couple sitting in the row behind me and about 7 or 8 seats to my right. I got more laughs watching this couple laugh at the is movie than I did the movie itself that night. It was hysterical just watching those two.
Jerry was an amazing talent! Gifted guitarist and song writer!! He literally wrote this song in about twenty minutes sitting in his motel room the night before the first day of shooting the movie. Damn! I miss this era! Reynolds and Reed were so great together! It's so hard to believe that there gone! Gleeson and Needham as well! Hollywood doesn't make em' like that anymore..........and never will again!! 😞
Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this video. This clip brought back fond childhood memories of watching Smokey and Bandit. RIP Bandit, Snowman & Buford.
This movie makes me so happy. Sheriff Buford T. Justice is the best pursuer, and Bandit the best pursuee, but it wouldn't be the same without Snowman and Fred. What memorable characters

I'm 52 yrs old and my mother still calls me and tells me whenever she see's this movie on! haha them were the days!!!!
RIP BANDIT!!!!!
Funny. Bought my 79 Trans Am in 1987. Same Black Special Edition as the Bandit.😆
Smokey and the Bandit is still my favorite movie. Ironically, a very close second is Vanishing Point (1971). And yes, I currently own a 2014 Challenger RT Redline (in White of course).😂
This movie sold a lot of cars for Pontiac!
KITT too!
Yeah no joke
Hell the dukes of Hazzard show technically sold a lot of chargers hehe
Do you know how many?
Also trans am sent a brand new firebird to Mr Bandit every year for almost i think 6 years until a new jackass pres./ceo said its not "right" lol
RIP Burt, hope you and the Snowman are giving it hell to the man upstairs. what an amazing film, No CGI needed. They don't make them like this anymore.

Convoy, the rubber duck.
What about Gottfried ( so his name in German ), the dog? Please, bring some burgers ~ he looks so hungry. ^^
In Poland it’s called “Mistrz Kierownicy Ucieka” which means something like “Master of the steering wheel runs away”
Gotta admit that it’s loosing something in translation that title 😂
The Germans ain't got nothing do with this!!
@@danromanov9537 underrated reply!

Lol :)
Jerry Reed was known as “The Snowman” not “The Snowball”!!!
what he passed while i was in africa, wtf
I know where you got snow ball from that was Pam’s handle in archer vice!!🤣
Jerry Reed was the snowman not snowball
It's not full of explosions and CGI but that scene where they hide in the convoy of semis is freaking great.
How dare ANYONE give the Bandit and the Snowman a thumbs down!!! Had to be Big and Little Enos Burdett. B.. Bur.. Burd... HELL I GOT TO GO.....

There is a lot to be said for going home to sleep in your own bed every night. When I was a OTR driver, the 1st thing that crossed my mind every morning was "what state am I in?". Mechanics are paid well & don't sleep at work.

Thats a damn good story!
I bet you will never forget that.

The one scene when Burt Reynolds jumps over the bridge reminds me of The dukes of Hazzard
Did y'all know that the bike cop that pulled Cleetus over was Sonny Shroyer, and Sonny played Enos in the Dukes of Hazzard.
2:30 Never knew that, but damn, you're right! IMDB shows him as "uncredited" in the movie!

When this movie came out in 1977, I saw it in the theater at least 6 times inside a month. About the 4th or 5th time I saw it, there was a retired couple sitting in
the row behind me and about 7 or 8 seats to my right. I got more laughs watching this couple laugh at the is movie than I did the movie itself that night. It was
hysterical just watching those two.
Jerry was an amazing talent! Gifted guitarist and song writer!!
He literally wrote this song in about twenty minutes sitting in his motel room the night before the first day of shooting the movie.
