This is going to take you i while. To start doing this for my model i used the same system though i used a (watch ) caseholder to do the bending work. remunds me a bit of mounting the portholes on my A. Vespucci models. I am not doing them all at once about 10 or so at the time in one week and do something else in between.

Those port lids are looking good. If you think that is tedious wait until you do the copper plates LOL.. Aren't you concerned about damaging the lids as you do rest of the build ? I have been thinking about waiting doing the ports lids last or close to it.

I have an older Mantua 1:98 Victory build that has most of the gun ports closed. I've planked the hull with that in mind but can't figure out how to illustrate the ports themselves. I've got a scaled map of where the ports are located on the hull but I'm not sure how to cleanly draw the ports, do I use a template and a knife to cut into the hull to "draw" the ports and then apply the hinges and ropes??? Do I try and draw a red line indicating the ports?? What would you suggest the best method. Some of the upper deck ports will be open to reveal the guns and I'm going to do those gun ports open, I can figure out how to do that but the majority of the ship has closed ports so they have to look believable Thanks for all you hard work, very helpful.

I remember how tedious it was doing the gun port lids on my Victory build, nice work John. I like the mini vice you used do you know who makes them as I might treat myself to one as it looks much better than my current one.
