The Perlman Music Program, based on Shelter Island NY not far from where I live, is an intensive seven-week summer residency for 35 of the most gifted teenage musicians from around the world. It’s the dream of Toby Perlman, the wife of Itzhak Perlman, one of the most accomplished violinists in the world. This program is an incredible example of the power of peers to accelerate growth and learning. And it offers a striking lesson for leaders from every walk of life, including the leaders of small and midsize companies, which is my focus.
