I won the ladder climb when I was a young teen. Got a giant angry-bird plush almost as big as me, proper soft fabric and proper stuffing none of that styrophone ball stuff. I'm not trained, not sure how I managed it but I was moving very slowly and meticulously like a chameleon with a lot of rapid wobbling of the ladder from side to side to correct for tiny misbalances. He still sits proudly on my laundry basket and it's probably one of my best achievements.

Ten shots and ten hits. Even the booth owner was a bit surprised. And so this guy rolled away with a teddy bear. I imagine him as a retired sniper and he just wasnt used to BB guns.

When you realize that corporations/politicians are blaming mexico and China for cheating Americans by manufacturing these toys when the reality is that it is American corporations cheating the American people with these dirty tricks and shifting the blame to China or Mexico instead...
The same thing happened with our opioid crises - with companies like Purdue Pharmacy or McKinsey (US corporations) getting Americans hooked intentionally and then blaming companies that mass manufacture the drug compounds (used for various legal purposes and for legal analgesic purposes) for getting Americans addicted to drugs.
We have to be wiser and more intelligent about this. Perhaps critical thinking was never part of the American school curriculum by design.

-The guy that lost of of his money at the carnival should have just bought a xbox kinect for much less than $1K. He most definitely had an addictive personality. Something he should watch out for in other aspects of his life. That money could have gone to something he whole family could have benefited from, like a downpayment on a house (the beginning of one, anyway), a car, a vacation. Or something for later like a college fund for the toddler in that stroller.

The education system is broken this is a perfect example. In fact some people learn better by teaching themselves rather than learning off another individual. It depends on the brain, however it's why this guy is so much better at explaining these concepts because he is not focused on any particular subject but the world as a whole. It makes a huge difference. It's surprising cause engineering grads should have recognized this over 20 years ago and somehow the courses have only been changing to be more hands on. Schoolhouses from the 1800s and before actually offered better education than today's systems, however to a degree. There are benefits and disadvantages to both sides however the idea of learning at own pace to get all details is an important detail the universities should adopt but also all other levels of education. The more it's talked about the faster change might occur but your response is a perfect example of what all engineering students experience. At least it more noticeable for us and probably any med students.

The funny thing is, the guy that owned the game would sometimes walk up the rope ladder with no hands, walking up the middle of the rope ladder. Whenever he did this we would get a huge crowd to watch and then everyone would try to win. All he did was increase his profits, lol.

Hey, my name's Mohsin and im 14 years old. I just wanted to say that you are a role model to me and inspire me so much. You constantly fuel my motivation along with inspiring me to follow through with my dreams. I would like to grow up to be a mechanical engineer like you and Mark Rober. My dream is to be an astronaut, if i can, every time i tell people that they laugh but i just watch your videos along with Mark Rober's and i feel a need to follow through with my dream. You, Mark and Chris Hadfeild are the 3 people who greatly inspire me. I hope you continue to do the awesome things that you do because you inspire people like me. Your amazing and thank you for being the people to change my life.
P.S: If you dont see this ill be sure to send it multiple times untill you do.

I was formerly a mechanic at a large amusement park for about a year, and after my inspections I would go over to the rope ladder and try to make it to the top. Despite hundreds of tries I never made it to the top regardless of my technique. I nearly made it by using only one hand and one foot opposite of each other and moving rather quickly. Those miniature milk bottles you knock down weigh around 10 pounds a piece. All those games are a scam.

I must say that after having worked in an amusement park and in several of these types of games there is a better way to handle the peach basket one. Throwing the ball at an angle (at least 45 degrees if you can manage it) so that it hits the side of the basket will dissipate the kinetic energy by having the ball roll around the inside. I was told to encourage players to do the very same thing and would demonstrate for anyone who was patient enough to listen to me before making their first throw (Not many). I would spend all day in the corner of the booth throwing the ball into the baskets and making every single one no matter how far away. It never ceased to amaze me how few would ever listen.

    • @craigwheller
