It is kinda cute. Maybe it's because you don't often see that sort of cooperative behaviour between two insects like hornets, it kind of makes them easier to relate to in a certain respect

What a beautiful video to end the year with! I never knew giant hornets could be so friendly!😂 I wish you and all your critter friends a very Happy New Year!🎉❤🐝💐
This is an excellent video! I'm an entomologist who studies social wasps, and this is one of the relatively few videos I've seen in which everything presented is true.
These hornets are great example of how all insects use the sun to orientate themselves correctly. And why moths for instance look as if they are attracted to light sources flying around them but infact are instinctively orientating themselves over and over again
The Yellow Hornet was just discovered in Georgia earlier this week. Two years after the Giant Hornet made its way to Washington state. In the latter case, one hive was found to have over 1500 hornets inside.
As a Washingtonian my reaction is: 1: F*** 2: Makes sense they move east over the mountains away from Seattle and the rain. 3. I don't want to deal with giant hornets in work in emergency services. That's some other agency's job.
That sounds really bad. I don't think you're going to get rid of them anytime soon as they spread quite quickly. Insects are so hard to deal with once they get a foothold. It makes me wonder why now all of the sudden have they started appearing in US? We can obviously blame people for this but even with that in consideration it "should" have happened long ago? Something has to be different today. It could be that someone is breeding them out of sight for whatever reason. I don't think you'd get such a big infestation from just a single queen being in a container or similar. That would take so many years before you'd even start noticing them especially if they hang out in forests.
@@huldu Yes. The northeast is literally infested with another invasive insect, the Spotted Lanternfly. Which also came from eastern Asia. First appearing in Pennsylvania in 2014, they've spread rapidly. Every state on the eastern seaboard has them now, and they multiply like you wouldn't believe.
Interesting to see the delicat mandeble parts benith the large sharp pincers they have. By the way, arent they grudge holding type with good shape recognising memories? The one that was pissed up by held around the torax, was calm down by honey treat or had to be 'disposed'?
Please add a small thicker area to the top and bottom of those wonderful little bee traps so there long stinger can’t sting your hands while holding it.
I don't know how to feel about these things now. Seeing how intelligent, cooperative and alive they are makes me reluctant to kill any kind of wasp (thankfully, we don't have these terrifying giant hornets in the UK); but then watching one of these massacre bees on an earlier video was also horrifying.
Just remember something .. don't humanize something that isn't a human A hornet is that, a hornet, a living creature with a different mind and purpouse frome the other species as all the other ones. We as human's we try to empathize with other species but we commit the error of think that they can feel and think as us... But they don't. Every animal is inteligent, but not very much or even no one at all have conciousnes like us, they do not know what is being evil, they don't know what is good or bad in a moral way, they only know the good or bad for their own survival, for the survival of the colony, their species.

Well these hornets does more harm than good. They damage beneficial plants, destroys bee nests, they dont pollinate and so on. Their numbers needs to be put under control or they do even more damage. Though i cant deny they look incredible
The stripe pattern on the abdomen, intricate design of the wings and the cool spikey layering kind of design of the legs are pretty... but the whole time I kept wincing, thinking "ugh its so creepy 😂"
"I'm just gonna casually capture this instrument of death and then hold it in tweezers while casually commenting on its many absolutely fearsome features like attempting to eat metal." Then her voice pitches up at 3:50, like "Hmmm it has decided to try to kill me."
What a truly fascinating and horrifying monster of nature. I’m deathly afraid of wasps and hornets but these hornets are nightmare fuel for me. I flipped out at a wasp flying into my kitchen and then one flew into my bedroom window when I was napping. They were big just over two cm long. I opened the windows up wide to remove them.
you really are feeding them with honey, like it your pet xD xD xD and they are there, calm... ahaha this is incredible ! amazing video, merci/bravo ! :)

both native to japan..
As it turns out they aren’t usually very aggressive to humans.

0:50 that explains it all. Did you at least watch the video..?
Its funny how everyone is amazed by the faxct that she is so calm arround the hornets but im more amazed by how calm the hornets are arround her!!!
Imagine going back to the hive "yo! If you let the human capture you, she'll give you FREE HONEY!"
all the hornets "SIGN ME UP!"
The one hornet they tied wire around and put into a bee hive to show us a bee ball: "WAIT, THIS ISN'T WHAT I SIGNED UP FOR!!"
😂😂
😂😂
I had no idea about these central eyes. Like a spider. Learned something new again
I enjoy her calm, informative, nature loving approach! This channel is excellent!
although very invasive they look rather cool like a little mechanical robot
Its really cute that they share honey like that.
We need more videos of the undersides of insects. We always see them from the top, even in documentarues.
exactly, i never knew there was basically nothing under its head. it looks like the insect equivalent of a person missing their lower jaw.
@@crappyaccount It kind of makes sense when you think about it. Since their jaws go sideways there wouldn't be any need to fit much else below them.
Everyone I know freaks out when they see a wasp, and this person just walks up and casually captures them and gives them treats 😂
I like how she feeds them at the end in exchange for taking a look at them
Amazing video! These hornets really are incredible creatures. She is a brave woman.
