End of My Trip? Thoughts on Danger and Fear
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 9 апр 2024
- We begin on Day 5 of my time on the Peace River Paddling Trail! I'll share how the next two days went, along with some thoughts on danger (there's always some risk), fear (you can be a little scared and still have a good time), and what it's like to be an alligator (crocs: friend or foe?) If you enjoy spending time in nature, exploring a new area, or pushing yourself outside your comfort zone, this video is for you!

What is Beer in Beautiful Places?
Hi, I’m Maddie! Celebrating an outdoor adventure with a beer has been a long-time tradition for me, and I wanted to create a platform for like-minded folks to come together. In my videos, I cover all types of adventures and review beer! Topics include day hiking, kayaking, travel, thru-hiking, and life on the road. In short, if you would describe yourself as an outdoorist, outdoorsman, outdoorswoman, hiker trash, nomad, or dirtbag, come on along, this is the channel for you! Welcome and cheers!

Courage is not the absence of fear. It's continuing despite it.
Kudos to you for doing this trip. I don't think I'd ever attempt sleeping on a beach near gators! Thanks for sharing with us all.
Gators???
Another SWEET MADD-VENTURE comes to a beautiful ending. Congrats!!
Thanks Maddie... btw, 2 cents stuff... you wanted to know what WE wanted to see YOU do next... And we could give a TON of suggestions. (being a fellow Hoosier for a time, and cyclist... I'm gonna throw the suggestions of RAGBRAI & The HILLY HUNDRED) But it's really more inspiring to watch when you're inspired by the adventure YOU've chosen. SO, my REAL suggestion... YOU PICK, and We'll keep living vicariously through the next MADD-VENTURE, For Sure!
You made it! You’ve become “one with the gator”! Congrats on a great trip!
I love that!! Thank you!
Thanks for taking us on the river with you. I stay in Florida for the winter. Now I want to do a day trip on Saturday he Peace River.
I'm a sea kayaker and happy to know I don't have to worry about gators LOL. All kidding aside, we grow by confronting our fears regardless what they are. You are an inspiration in all your adventures.
Congratulations Ranger! This is something to be damn proud of. 👏 Several days, by yourself in a strange new environment...you are one brave adventurer. You're unstoppable Maddie. 😀 ✌️
Awww thank you so much!
Love the musings on the crocs experiencing the uncanny valley effect 😆 Thanks for another neat series Maddy, been following you since your tour of the lower 49!
Congratulations Maddie I really enjoyed your trip' thank you sharing with us.
Glad you enjoyed it! More to come, as always!
@@BeerinBeautifulPlaces I can't wait.Thank you.
great job and videos , Florida is a whole other world compared to fl. coast . Think OUTBACK
I’ve been lucky to explore a lot of Florida- the keys, the Everglades, doordashing in some of the cities, visiting family in st. Pete. It’s a very diverse place!
What a beautiful video. You seem so happy and chilled out, wonderful to see 💙🩵
I suppose that's a wilderness experience for many people, with the Alligators, but the scenery is something else.
This series is great Maddie. Sort of like a real life Maurice Sendaks’ Where The Wild Things Are.
As a Floridian, several things that amazes me about out of state visitors, especially those camping, is first how "hot" it is in March and the fear of alligators! Then again, I guess how cold we feel, especially at night when it gets down to 60° at night in the summers in the other states. That said, I enjoyed your vlog as continue to watch anything you post on YT. Thanks for sharing your trip!
It’s interesting to me how different people’s views on gators are! Some people have called me stupid for being around them and some folks don’t understand the uneasiness, like you said!
Maddie! You are never a quitter. You are a very accomplished woman. You should be proud
Love your adventures.
I think risks feel larger to me when I am unfamiliar with it. Logically the risk of injury is much higher out driving on a road than out kayaking on that river, but the one you know FEELS safer anyway… (or so many seems to think :) )
Very Lucky 🍀 and BRAVE!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!!
WOW! That was a great, yet at times high anxiety trip! I don't mind seeing an occasional gator, but gator infested waters is another story! I know most don't want anything to do with humans. But those few that have become use to humans and have maybe learned to associate humans with food, can be dangerous or aggressive! No shame in having some anxiety in that situation!
You are a true inspiration to me! I don't think I would get a minutes sleep waiting for those "gator noises" to happen. I had a a good time tagging along with you, however. Wondering- how much beer did you pack in that kayak? Were they all Florida micros? My favorite FL brewery is Cigar City. Anyway, good trip and kudos for being a brave woman on the water (and in the woods!).
Thanks for the trip!😊 It’s not hiking but it’s refreshing !👍
You don't need to fear anything just respect it
Interesting idea
Awesome trip Maddie! If you ever want to do a similar adventure again we have the Bartram Canoe Trail here in South Alabama on the Mobile-Tensaw Delta which is a similar environment but much deeper water. You also would have the added advantage of camping on platforms suspended over the water so that animals cannot get to you. Check it out it sometime.
Florida has a lot of beautiful rivers, and I live by one.
Yep, South Florida is the only place in the world where alligators and crocodiles coexist. American crocs can get pretty big as well. Nice trip!! I like your food like the bagel and cream cheese. Rock on as I will.
This was a great adventure and turned out just fine. Well done !
Beer Stipend!
Thank you, AK!!
This was so much fun to watch, Maddie. Congratulations!! Yippee!!
You certainly mastered your fears by the end.
Can’t wait to see what’s next!
Thanks for sharing your videos, they're always a treat. And of course I'm glad you completed the trip and got out of there. 😊 Maybe kayak Lake Superior, explore the caves sometime. You'd have to wear a wetsuit though--water is dangerously cold, even in the summer. ❤
Nice trip Maddie! Since I had been on the Peace River before, I really enjoyed the video, seeing things that I have seen before. Great story, great video as always. You're kill'in it girl! Looking forward to the next video.
geek
I think you could explore your home state of Indiana and show us what it has to offer. Day hikes, overnighters etc I bet even you’d be surprised what there is!
Great trip, I’m glad you got to the end in harmed. Honestly I started watching you from the van build video, I’d love to see you back in the van for a night or two, unless you sold it.
Enjoyed sharing your adventure with you. You look like you'd be fun to travel with. Glad ;you made it to the rivers end safe and sound. I'll look forward to your next adventure. Ax
Thank you very much!
Thanks!
Yay!! Thank YOU! 💚
Thanks for another great trip you've taken us on! Cant wait until the next one already lol
Congratulations! Great trip!!! Yay, Maddie!! Be well! BIG LOVE!!!
Thank you so much!! 💚
It was so good to see you in your videos again! I love your sense of adventure! I think you should hike the Mountains to Sea Trail next!! I’ll be watching!
I would like to see you hike the Florida trail. Enjoyed your adventure you are brave
Congratulations!
Thanks!! It was an epic trip!
@@BeerinBeautifulPlacesWhat tent is that MSR? I'm looking for a new one person tent.
I love love love your content and im so excited that you made it 👏🏽 I’ve been on a binging spree of watching all of your videos, and I truly am so thankful + grateful that the algorithm brought your channel to me. You’ve inspired me so much. Thank you 🙏🏽
You are so brave
I just take one step at a time!
I am always commenting so late. I'm glad you did not quit. In the beginning of your trip I thought you were going to. I would have. I am not a fan of murky water unless it is a creek with the natural springs like econfina, not sure if you been to the differnt springs yet, they are good to visit when it is really hot.
No words just fucking love it🎉😂😢😮😊
This was a great trip to watch! Thank you for sharing. I'm just waiting for a group trip you organize. I may could do that!
It was a pleasure watching your videos!! Glad you made it!
WOOT WOOT 🙌🙌 finish line!!! Congratulations, you did an awesome job and thank you so much for bringing us along with you 😊😊 can't wait for your next adventures - hope it's with Smoke 🤞 ❤
Yay, Maddie!! Always enjoy tagging along on your adventures! ☀️
As always a great adventure! Thank you for sharing your experience. Can't wait to see what you get up to next!
I really enjoyed your kayaking adventure, Maddie! You have such a wonderful, positive outlook on life … such a joy to watch and thank you for taking us along🤍
It was fun following you on this adventure! Look forward to whatever is next!
Loved this quest of completion. Very fun series. You are a brave one. Inspiring as well. Thankyou for taking us along. Let the adventures continue. ✨️ 😊
Thanks for sharing your journey. Can’t wait for your next adventure.
What a cool trip! Thanks for sharing Ranger.
Thanks for taking us along on this one. A fun adventure, sands the wildlife. On to the next Beer adventure.
Loved the whole adventure!
So happy for you! Amazing work! Congratulations 🎉
Congratulations on completing this exciting adventure! I’m so proud of you! But, like most grandmas, I worried about your safety! Now go find a new adventure that doesn’t include alligators 🤣
You got it! Definitely won’t do anything like this for a long time!
You did it!!! You are brave!
Love this video! You keep it real😊. Enjoyed your ‘expedition’! Looking forward to your next adventure!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that!!
Great job!!! Love to watch you!!! Great content!!✌️🙂❤️
Congratulations! I love following your adventures! You should do another adventure/week trip in another state! So fun to see these places that are less traveled
Okay! That sounds doable and fun!!
You should be proud of yourself Maddie! You were out of your comfort zone for much of the time, but you pushed on and prevailed instead of bailing which most people would have done. You will look back on this and tell Smoke Master how much fun you had. It may not have felt that way at times, but when you accomplish a difficult task, you have a different outlook on it. Congratulations!
Awww thank you so much! That’s so true, it feels awesome when I look back on it!
@@BeerinBeautifulPlaces You are very welcome, Maddie. Even though you are not on the AT, you are still one of the stars on RUclips. You are a must see video every week! Daniel.
Your adventures are fun and delightful 🎉❤
Well tht was fun!! Cheers ranger. Glad u made it 👍
Thanks for coming!!
Woohoo you crushed it!
Beer , you are awesome . I so love following your adventures and hearing your beer-isms about your thoughts and the world around you . Whats the next Adventure ?
Can't wait to watch this a little later tonight so excited!!!
Yay 😊
I love how you were checking out the water while packing up your gear 😄. Me I'd be by e calling for someone to get me out of there😂😂
Another cool adventure! Glad you persevered. Not sure what to suggest--maybe Oaxaca!
Congratulations!!
I'm an avid kayaker, very new to backpacking. Stumbled upon your AT journey videos during my research. I really enjoyed them, and learned alot!! I was excited to see you were on a new adventure, especially kayaking so I've been following. Now I find out we are neighbors!! What are the odds😂 Hello from Henderson KY!!! There are tons of beautiful paddles not far from home, you don't have to travel far or worry about the gators🤣
Taking my first backpacking trip next month down in LBL😁 thanks for the education, inspiration and motivation!!!
Great series!!! ✌️♥️🙏
Glad you think so!
Great job enjoy watching your videos
Nice to see you 🙂
I dont know how you did that lived in Florida for almost a year in the early 80s i was 15 i hated it. I came back to Connecticut and never went back😊😊
Thanks for taking us with you!
My pleasure! Thanks so much for watching!
Hi Maddie 👋🏻 Congratulations 🎊 Great to know that you're safe 🙂 Stay safe 😊and take care my friend 🫶🏻 God Bless 🙏🏻 Appreciate you!
Thanks so much!!! I appreciate you too!!
I still don’t understand why I can’t sleep in some places where I’m totally alone and should be at peace enough to sleep. Getting firewood, away from it all, yet can’t sleep it’s annoying ‘cause it takes the next days energy but it’s still nice to be out there
I know exactly what you mean! It’s so frustrating!
Glad you are done and safe🙂🙏
Thank you! Something less adventurous next time!
What a great trip!!! 🛶
Yes it was!
Congratulations with buddying up with the gators. Could consider coming back to Arkansas to hike maybe the Ouachita trail which actually starts in Oklahoma and ends about around Little Rock AR. I have did parts of it last year near the Hot Springs Village. Nothing overnight just been day hikes.
Congrats!!🎉🏝🛶☀️🌙🥳
Thanks!!
the allagash river and st john's rivers in maine are great paddling adventures
It’s cheeseburger time! Beer in beautiful places awesome. 👍
Heck yeah! I went to Wendy’s for their pretzel burger after this!
We have a week off this summer and after watching your videos, we are booking this trip!!! Thank you so much!!! Wish you could have found shark teeth on this trip!
Thanks for sharing Maddie! The only question I have is how you keep you beer cold?
I had an insulated lunchbox-type cooler! It worked really well when it was full, even without ice, but not so much towards the end of the trip!
Only a true nature lover would ever think to ask an alligator for directions. I mean, it lives there, Right?😊 😂
Exactly!!
Let's Go!! Don't quit Maddie You got this!!!
I made it to my destination in this episode! I paddled all 68 miles!
@@BeerinBeautifulPlaces GG!
This was a neat video series. Thank you Maddi.
Yay, glad you enjoyed it!
Congrats. Well done. I’m like you in that gator country would make me very nervous. To do next? Van travels with hikes would be my choice. Thanks and We’ll see You out there.
Your all good congratulations let's camp soon I know peace river well ...,.
getting stuff done ✔️
My wife and I enjoy all your videos! Think about an adventure in Mexico.
It’s totally not cute but there are mosquito outfits - jacket and pants to protect your exposed skin. I got a set because I love outdoors but not the bugs! I love your videos. Stay safe and have fun.
You did it!! 🎉❤🎉
Thanks! 😊
Congratulations! I was a little worried, gators and snakes, but it worked out.
You are good video, I’m enjoy, keep save.
Thank you, I will!
Wow, I’m from CA and, nope. Good job! I too think about random things on trail and for that matter off trail. Sometimes I’ll make a list of what I learned that day, for instance, today I learned that smoked cinnamon does not necessarily work well in oatmeal. For me at least. 😊 I like your content. keep it up.
I wonder what adventures you could find in the upper Midwest around the Great Lakes. I’d love to see that.
Yeah! It’s beautiful up there!
Let's see you doing Devil's Path in the Catskill Mountains of New York. It's only 24 miles long but it's supposed to be the toughest trail in North America
You seem to be more comfortable around the gators at the end. Great trip!
Definitely! Once I knew for myself what they were like, that helped a lot
