Apparently a lot of you thought I was serious when I said I shower once a week. Good grief.
Hahahaha!!! I love your videos mike! I get so excited when ur week ons start but at the same time I get so sad when they end 😢 can't wait for the next one mate! Keep up the good work 👍
Also did u see my suggestion the other day?
Do aldi smart price or Morrisons smart price food😀😀
If u from UK ima pretty sure u r tho 😄
I subscribed and put notification bell ON!!😀
I knew you were kidding No one is that lavish.
@Ceiran AllenWright that what I said lol
hey Mike, I just want to say thanks for doing these, I'm a large guy (close to 400lbs) and there is something about watching you do these week ons and product reviews which is actually in the back of my mind somehow helps me enforce an aspect of portion control which actually gives me motivation and inspiration to control my portion sizes much more when i'm at home. honestly, your week on series, your ability to stick to these week ons without falling off or binge eating much like myself is very powerful to see. so even though i'm just one guy, I just wanted to say thanks for doing this, being entertaining and for doing what you do a lot of people watch man vs food and get hungry, but theres something about what you do which just works for someone like myself, I don't know if anyone else here is like that, maybe I'm on my own in these comments, but regardless i always get a kick out of these videos in a positive way, keep up the good work, you're a top bloke. please, i seriously emplore you to keep making these.
Implore*
Thanks for sharing, Badgerman! 😄
Well I can only speak for myself but there MIGHT be others out there who watch and are in the same boat as myself, there's just something about it which just works and ticks over in the back of my brain. So based on that I will IMPLORE as much as I can :p
@@badgerman6666 good luck on your journey brother❤
I know this is a 4 year old comment but I just wanted to say that I’m the same, always struggle with what is a ‘normal’portion so I find these videos helpful (as well as entertaining and fun)for that too.
Mike jeavons: master of one handed box opening/cooking/eating etc 😁 😂
Yup
The "blue" stuff in blue cheese IS mould. It's a harmless one though (one that doesn't produce nasty toxins like the ones growing on spoilt food generally do) that turns the milk into this kind of cheese. This is how it is made. The white stuff around camembert is also mould. ^^
The mould is the tastiest part ;) Especially Stilton. Yummmm.
How did you get this 3 days ago
Agree Pegasos 1986. I will eat it if he doesn't. LOL
At 4:38 in this very episode for an explanation...
Bananacrushetpvp. Patreon.
I think cobbling together the final meal was actually great because it showed what someone with limited means might have to do anyway - use the food on hand to make something filling and (fairly...) nutritious...
I love the humor on these videos, cheers me up after a bad day at work more than you could imagine! Keep up the good work!
Do a week on marks and spencer to see if it is really worth spending more
Some of their products are alot better then the big 4 supermarkets not all but if u get the odd thing m and s is pritty good
he could get those dine in for 2 for £10, maybe he could even eat with Grace for once!!
Aha would be good to see
Its 2 for £12 now.
M&S ready meals are actually surprisingly good
What a fantastic series. Me and my other half really enjoyed each video you did. Great work Mike, great work
I liked this week on , it was a good intro to the smart price range . Yay for basil . Basil is a lovely cat . Keep up the good work Mike , already looking forward to your next week on !
I think as you’ve sacrificed your health on this for a week, I reckon we should all chip on Patreon and you do a full week on M&S food or maybe Tesco Finest, eat like a king for the week!
Tesco Finest sausages are marvellous. A poor-quality sausage is a wretched thing.
how often and when has no impact on health as long as its not something stupid like once a week
@B J B it's not about when you eat, you can eat at any time of the day or night, it doesn't change what your putting into your body, it's about how much you eat, no one should be exceeding more than 3,000 calories a day (less if your a woman).

@@vickishaw6053 Eat what you need. Some people consistently eat 10000 calories daily
The Jaffa cakes are not stale that is how they are made like they did years ago before someone took mcvities to court over Jaffa cakes being like buiscits and the extra tax for being a biscuit with chocolate on
Lidl do great crispy Jaffa Cakes. I love them, I hate McVites ones tbh. So dry
I prefer them to McVities.
Morrisons value ones are soft jaffacakes, and really tart orange, really nice.
I don't think they changed anything in the way they are made.
They used the argument in court that biscuits go soft when stale and cakes go hard when stale.
Because of this jaffa cakes can't be taxed on the same tax as biscuits and should be taxed as cakes.
I always get smart price jaffa cakes and sometimes they're stale for some reason. Other than that there's no difference
Call me crazy, but isn't blue cheese meant to be very strong ?
It can be very strong when you eat it on its own. The flavor usually mellows out when you eat it in other foods or sauces.
Depends which one you buy it get sautéger that's creamy
The thing about Asda Smart Price is that it can be a little hit and miss. The vast majority of items are decent, especially the stuff you’d expect to be crap, but there are items that are bloody awful. The blue cheese, as you experienced as one example, the hazelnut chocolate spread as another. Overall though, it is well worth giving Smart Price products a go. You can save significant amounts of money over branded stuff and sacrifice only a minor amount of flavour/quality.
As an aside, the Jaffa cakes aren’t stale. Mcvities use a recipe which contains more fat (used to be hydrogenated fat before all the uproar about it) that gives them a more sponge like texture. The smart price recipe is actually more “traditional” and so is much more biscuit like in texture. Bit of a shock when you’re used to Mcvities and not expecting it, but otherwise they’re probably one of my fav of the Smart Price line.
Like when he did wheat bisks, tastes pretty much the same and spend absolute pennies compared to the practically extortionate weetabix.
The Asda chocolate wheatbisks however, nah, just go with weetabix for the flavoured ones.
Would love to see a week in Aldi/Lidl. I now live in a part of Scotland (Shetland) where there is no Aldi or Lidl and used to do all my shopping there. Shopping at Tesco these days and price of a weeks shop is often more than double what it was in Edinburgh. Great videos keep them up.
Literally my favourite series on RUclips hahahah, have you done Iceland yet? I work there and would like to see that
Ian Hezlop He did A week on Iceland a year or two ago. You should be able to find it on the week on playlist.
I started school on Wednesday and I’d just watch your video before bed I honestly loved this series 😊
This was ten times better than your week on Tesco mainly for one reason: You didn't spend every episode talking about your book and when you did talk about it or your Patreon it was unobtrusive and appropriate. Maybe it's just me but it made all the difference to me and made me more likely to support you
Fs, beans on a low to medium heat for 5 mins - Heinz or otherwise - not 20 seconds at a heat closer to the surface of the sun. Other than that I have no qualms.
My brother used to do the same thing with soup and it would all separate and go lumpy!
I don’t know why, but those beans boiling like that really annoyed me 😂
Big congrats for the million views on the Tesco value day 1 video, that week is what got me to your channel, RUclips recommendations actually brought me something good for once ;)
I love how you apologised at the start regarding how you aren't making these videos in a degroterry way towards people who genuinely buy these products and now suddenly it's a "fantastic" week.
Ha ha the plastic lid opening fail!🤣

Your relationship makes me feel all warm inside, its so sweet
I’d love to see you do a week on Keto 😁
and then a week on the carnivore diet. Cover all of them.
a month ... and what about a meat only diet?
I lost 6 stone in 4 months on meat only. My IBS cleared up, my fatty liver healed and my cholesterol returned to normal.
Colin James You didn’t eat any vegetable or fruit for 4 months? Were you shitting bricks?
I poop every other day. Comes out without effort and my hole perfectly clean when I wipe it. Healthy regular ghost poops. Fibre is a myth.
Blue cheese is called blue cheese because of the BLUE MOULD...
My childhood cat used to have a thing for the boiler cupboard. He went missing for about 2 days once when we had no idea he was in there. When I opened the door I found him sat in there. Whenever you used to open the boiler cupboard he used to jump on the shelf above the boiler and curl up in all the towels and sheets and you had to lift him back out again before you closed the door.
Really enjoyed this :) love the week on series! on a more random note, did Grace make that stunning blanket that is on your chair near the end?
just found you today, great series!!!!!
A week on Polish food? The odd meats you get in Eastern European shops.
A bit of cat disguised as ostrich or dog labeled as horse meat.
@@MonkeyHunch1 I can't even with this 😂
Theo Rutherford Glad i gave you a laugh you might like this clip :) ruclips.net/video/kG3p5KHySMg/видео.html
Sean Lock in a classic i love ! From his lesser known comedy :)
Came across your channel by chance of looking for something else but watched all week not something that I would try but enjoyed watching you. keep the entertainment going I wait to see what you do next 👍👍👍👊
@5:25 Is your stove powered by Mace Windu's lightsaber?
The ready meals could have such a long shelf life by either being packaged in an anaerobic environment such as chips (chrisps) where they package is filled with nitrogen to purge any oxygen before being sealed. It would also explain why they dont peel open but must be cut. They also could irradiate the package once sealed killing off all bacteria that might be inside further reducing the ability for it to go off.
Thumbs up every day mate. Great content. Been watching you a while now. Keep up the good work!
Just subscribed and love the videos. I thought the weekly shower comment was a joke made for the taking, loved it! As for the blue cheese, i think you maybe need to like blue cheese in the first place. I will go try it myself asi love blue cheese lol. Looking forward to all your videos from now on! cheers guys.
My mother used to make a poached egg on cheese toast, she called it a Welsh rare bit. I don't know how popular that name is for it though I think it's fairly ubiquitous in Ireland. Just wondering if other countries call it the same thing, especially in Wales?
This week actually inspired me to go and buy Smart Price stuff on my previous grocery shop in Asda. Can confirm just how good it is: for the insanely low amount of money the stuff costs, you can't go wrong. The chips (fries for you Americans.) are especially good when considering the fact that a bag from McCain would cost £2-3, when - if you ask me - the McCain are no where near as good as the cheapo alternative.
My mother swears by Asda's own brand stuff and thinks the Tesco equivalents are horrible. Sainsburys is worse AND more expensive whilst giving less quantity for your coin.
What a fantastic series
Thank you. Enjoyed this week. How about m-savers? Morrisons savers. White chocolate is the best and jaffa cakes
This week went by really fast, for some reason it didn't drag, maybe because it was so positive. It really felt so nice and chill, like hanging around with a good friend :-)
Recently we had some farm fresh organic mince in a spag bol and boy was it good.
I'd love to see a week on Organic to see how you think it compares!
Love your chopping board! Asda jaffa cakes are my favourite
>Not eating the cheese rind
B A R B A R I C
I like the Asda packaging design. So pure and simple.
Next: one week after I've learned that my filthy oven can be cleaned.
I would love to try some of this squash drink mix you have been showing - haven't seen the equivalent in US markets.
Once asda you said was being bought out by different company you might want to go back and revisit this and see if the amount of items changes and the quality of the items changes
The Problem with using Tesco Value as the benchmark is that Tesco have axed a lot of the Value products (55 in fact, including baked beans and Tea bags) eg: The Tea is now Stockwell (made by Typhoo). A lot of the chilled aisle value products are now Eastman.
Mike where did you get that jurrasic park clock??? I need one
Thanks for this one, got some great ideas to try new products from Asda, but when I went to my local superstore I found they stock next to nothing smartprice!
was that smart price oil you used for your eggs ?
I propose a week on Fortnum and Mason's.
What's that?
Ridiculously expensive stuff. Like £60 a box of crystallised fruit expensive 😂
I knew from just hearing you talk that you would be local to me, looked you up and says you was born in northampton, and live in bedfordshire :D I'm from Kettering.
this week on has gone by too fast :(
Can you do a week on morrisons food x
What about Sainsbury’s
Morrisons is the best on value and quality
@@lucaparker9115 innit
What i like about morrisons is they are a traditional british brand. Their veg and meat are good value but great quality
Rachel X I'll do a week on you love.:) x
Hi lovey! Have you ever done weight watchers? Would love to see you do the new plan!
X
Mike you're going to turn into a bloody bowl of bolognaise at this rate lol!
Basil is so adorable! I got a black cat when I was 8 and grew up with him - he recently died at the ripe old age of 15 :(
I really enjoyed this one. I’ve always thought about buying the cheaper Asda stuff when I’m in there and this was like watching you test drive the whole range for me lol
I'm glad I made an appearance on this episode ☺ 🧀
It's not evil preservatives that make the meals last 3 weeks in the refrigerator (not freezer) as they would have to list them and as you demonstrated, alot of them didn't have preservatives. High fat content foods last a long while (hence you can have butter in your fridge for months). Also, they suck the oxygen out the containers and replace it with nitrogen so that it's a much more difficult environment for bacteria to grow - this is probably why the cellophane wrapper is such an arse to remove, if it was easier like the meals which only last a few days then you'd have more meals going off quicker. More expensive ready meals have a higher turn over rate, more are sold to be eaten at convenience, where as smart price is aimed at people who perhaps may only shop once a fortnight or so.
A week on TINNED GOODS!! Great videos again mate x
Really enjoyed all these videos. Some of that food actually looked pretty good.
Would you do a week on morrisons value food. I think it would be good for people on a budget to see what the value range is like in the most common supermarkets so they can make a more informed choice as to what value range is decent and so they know what to expect when they buy it
Not sure if this is as true for British frozen meals as it is for American, but I didn’t see it. A lot of the time manufacturers here mix soy in with the meat to bulk it up along with the usual high fat, high salt, high sugar. It’s disgusting and usually rubbery. I avoid it mightily.
Mike, did you not try the smart price Bourbon Creams?
Did you not have butter or do you just not put any on cheese on toast?
I've watched all 7 videos and it was very good, I think I'll go check out your Tesco Value Videos :)
Alright. Now that this one's done, do a week on sun rays, yeah? Get some of that photosynthesis going, my dude.
I'll leaf that one for you to decide.
Might make the rest of his hair disappear, too dangerous of a risk to take!
Nah he should do a week on heroin
and see if he can quit after the week
Another neat week on Mike. Wonder what you going to come up next.
it`s wonderful that you survived this week on, now try and eat this range every week and nothing else, i can only imagine some people have too, because of budget reasons.
i think you should do a week on 'Tesco Finest' or Asda's version of that!
Somehow, I think that GBP 35 is not that cheap. I suppose part of the reason is the lasagnas and other warm meals for lunch, which will always be more expensive than sandwiches. Also, there were a lot of sweets and snacks.
Anyway, that was another interesting week on.
I loved this week on!
Have you done Sainsbury’s basic as you can get mayo and ketchup in the basics range looks a lot better range then Asda
You can even get some basic fresh veg as well
So the next A Week On is going to stink?
That's gotta be A Week On Beans, then.
Could be a week on eggs.
have you done a week on farmfoods?
Love these videos!!
Wait, you can’t make a cheese omelette? You could have even added some ham and served with bread and butter. You and Grace are lovely but you’ll never win Masterchef LOL!
Do a week on foraging next, it’s the best time of year for it. Can’t wait for the episode when you accidentally eat magic mushrooms!
Morrisons Value Jaffa Cakes are 30p and by far are so much nicer than Mcvities Jaffa Cakes. I find the Mcvities ones too hard crunchy, whereas Morrisons value are soft and have great taste. Try them !
It is probably the fat and salt that helps preserve the chilled meal. Plus they can use cheaper fattier meat.
Why are the comments from 3 days ago LOL
Ryan W Patreon :)
cause patreon sponsors got to view the video before it was live to the rest of youtube
yay for patreon!
I hate you.

I Thought The Same, Seems We Are Just Not 'Posh' Enough..... What A Shame! 😀
Well done Mike, looking forward to the next one
Sainsburys basic range next?
Some cheaper foods are actually better for you if you're healthy eating, since they add less costing items, such as sugars, preservatives, oils, etc. It depends on the food item, like chips, jams, cereals, beans are the best to buy cheapest at around 50%+ less sugars, saturates than common brands like Heinz. Just don't bother on cheap ready meals since they're horrible either way and probably cheaper to cook in bulk healthier meals.
I’ve tried the savers blue cheese.its not the nicest is it.?in fact Inthought I was tasting Roquefort!!
Ready meals in the US last for a thousand years.
Some of the stuff is fine. The sardines are OK, I mean you can't really fuck them up. The frozen battered fish is awful though. Forms a white gloop between the fish and batter that closely resembles that stuff that accumulates in your mouth after a night of heavy drinking.
Mike why are you the best British youtuber lol. Me n my mates love yah. Much love from the Bedford boiz
Love these videos! How about a week on Aldi/Lidl?
Dude. Bread, cheese, eggs. French toast with cheese in the middle. Even better if you dump a can of spaghetti hoops over the top. 😆
OMG - having Lean Cuisine Lasagna as I'm watching
They put such a lot of salt in those ready meals in place of more expensive herbs and spices, I think that's why they have such a long shelf life.
thanks for the videos theyre great
Really enjoy your week ons Mike :)
do morrisons and sainsburys smart price week on as well
Can't tell if bad blue cheese or just people bad at eating blue cheese. Based on past experience, I'd lean toward the latter.
I loved this week on and the Tesco Value one
Are you really supposed to leave the foil on when you put it in the microwave or oven?
GAnime88 It’s not foil..that would blow up the microwave! It’s a cling film style lid. And yes, you are. Although you’re meant to pierce it, to let the steam evaporate, which Mike conveniently ‘forgot’ to do !
You should give a week on Soylent Green a go, it's a liquid that is apparently an alternative to food.
The smart price packaging of just plain is used mainly as a marketing tactic, the packaging looks so cheap, that it stands out as being a cheap product, helping attract customers who are looking for the cheaper products. I'm sure it costs less to make as via the ink and different machinery, but this stuff is made in such high bulk, per product it would barely have an effect on pricing.
bonus video - chicken and mash
