You're a great teacher. Thank you for the video. I appreciated that you went through the whole process and recommended some new tools (other than Adobe products; which have a difficult entry point to use). I look forward to your other videos.
This is the first of your videos that I’ve watched. Thank you. I’m going to have a great time making c.books for all the kids in my family. I like to give memorable gifts but there are so many little ones, it’s getting really expensive. This will work out so much cheaper and will also serve as a keepsake if they want 😊
While I’m glad you’re not selling them like the rest of these folks, I hope none of the little kids in your family want to be artists when they grow up. It’s going to be a tough message to explain to them that they won’t be able to make a living selling their art because instead of supporting actual artists people are now just using tech that takes all that art without pay or permission, copies and recombines it, and spits out random results, because it’s “cheaper.” 😞 No matter how much cheaper something is, personally I’m not comfortable giving gifts to my kid or other loved ones knowing it’s made using the unpaid labor of an entire industry while simultaneously putting those people out of jobs.

@@fibienn250 I just don’t understand why that justification is acceptable to so many when it specifically involves theft from artists (or other creatives), vs. other types of work. If you want to give someone a new dress or toy or electronic device, but don’t want to spend the money or have ability to make it yourself, does that make it okay to get the item for free from someone who essentially stole it or the components to make it (by taking it from the actual people who made it, without permission or pay)? It’s not like personalized gift art is an essential survival need like food or medicine, but people who would never dine and dash or steal medicine so often seem fine with not paying artists. This is how we make our living. How we buy *our* food and medicine. It’s how I afford to buy things for my child. And yeah one person using ai to make one gift isn’t going to destroy artists’ careers, but with the sheer volume of people willing to use this, it adds up, plus it empowers/supports the companies who stole our art and makes their behavior seem more acceptable, making it even harder for artists to fight against even more extreme examples of it (I know many artists who have lost out on jobs because of how this tech is being used).
@@dana102083 I’m literally a digital artist, so accusing me of not valuing digital art is hilariously absurd. And ironic. Since it’s people using this tech with zero care for the ethical implications who clearly don’t value digital art or the effort and skill that goes into creating it. Your argument suggests a significant lack of understanding of how this tech works compared to digital art (or if you do understand, you’re intentionally using straw man arguments). Digital art, like traditional art, requires time, effort, and skill. It requires an understanding of composition and color theory, of inking and rendering techniques, literally all the same things as traditional art, just with a stylus and digital paint or ink instead of a brush or pen. Digital artists sketch, ink, and paint, plan compositions, decide on color schemes and lighting direction, and choose the placement of each brushstroke like any other artist. But that is not what ai art is. It’s not a computer creatively dreaming up and crafting its own designs, and it’s *certainly* not the prompt-typer doing that work. Ai art algorithms are “trained” on databases of (mostly stolen) art created by actual human artists. All it’s doing is mimicking/copying data with zero intent or understanding of the reason behind those artistic choices. All the artistic choices that make the output appealing were made by the artists whose work was fed into the database. If you ask it to spit out a cute picture of a puppy, it got the round eyes, color of the fur, the direction of the brushstrokes, the expression on its face, all from someone else’s artwork. It might be a very close copy of an existing piece of work or a patchwork of the works of many different artists, but either way, everything it does is made possible by the labor of human artists whose work was used without their permission and who were not paid for that usage. It’s like creating a robot “chef” that steals all its ingredients from other restaurants or chefs’ personal kitchens and all its recipes are just lines from human chefs’ recipes cut and pasted together without their permission.

Hi, thanks for this very clear video. I have a question: on the cover where you put the preview of some images and inserted the description. Can you consider adding your logo or a URL link to other books?
Thanks for your kind comment and apologies for my delayed response. YES! You can certainly add a logo or link to other books if you wish on the back cover or even on the inside pages. :)
You nailed it with total professionalism. So many other RUclips videos that just create horrible quality books for the customers. You took the time to make sure it's top notch in every way. Thanks.
Can we just publish a book under our personal name, without any publishing company? or would it be best to start a company and create the books under that name?
@@ivyhang5084 That's good to know. I was assuming there would be legal aspects to publishing a book, but maybe not with "digitally uploaded books". So a made-up name is fine? Unicorn Man. Dreamscape Dude (not being serious), etc....

Thanks for your question and kind comment. Midjourney technically generates a different / unique image with each prompt where as canva elements are the same and available to everyone. However, I would say, even with ai images, like midjourney, if you have an ability to layer more elements, it might be the safer thing to do :)
Glad you enjoyed the video. Which page on canva are you referring to? The book cover template? If so, you can find the link here: Amazon KDP Cover Calculator: kdp.amazon.com/cover-calculator
The problem is and like many other things to sell this market appears to be over saturated, so many people doing similar books. You need too stand and that's difficult.
I would love to test Midjourney but everyt time I do, it tells me due to high demand they can't do free ones and I kinda hesitate to pay if I don't know if it works for me
Try blue willow. I like midjourney a lot so I paid 10 dollars a month. It’s hard to get the free accounts because people kept scamming and making fake accounts to override the free limit.
@@julisa3100 thanks for the tip, I'll try that out. For what I'll probably use it, it won't make much sense to pay $10 but should i start using it more, it might make sense then, or I'll be happy with blue willow 🙂
Hi Ivy, I have a quick question . Is it safe to use the images generated from Midjourney for commercial purposes like selling my coloring books on Amazon , will my account be banned for not subscribing to the pro version (if there's) ? Thanks .
Hi, to answer your question: you can not use the free version of midjourney for commercial purposes, only for personal use. You must take a subscription, for example, the lowest plan for 10 bucks per month or 8 bucks per month (yearly billed)
@@worldballtv3748 no, the free version is only for personal use. And at this moment, the free version is deactivated from midjourney self. because it was abused by a flood of users. you can only choose the paid versions.
@@akikocht4116 Thanks ... But I guess my question is, if you can recommend any other website that I can use it's free version for commercial purposes ?
@@worldballtv3748 if you’re truly concerned about doing this ethically, you should know every single one of these ai image generators runs on stolen artwork. None of the artists whose work was fed into them gave permission for their work to be used in this manner, and they don’t receive any compensation for it. AI art can’t be copyrighted because it’s just a machine copying parts of existing artwork, not a novel human creation. The companies selling “commercial licenses” are exploiting you and the artists they stole from. They have no more rights to those images than you do so selling “commercial rights” they don’t even own is a scam. If you want images to use for commercial purposes without paying for it, there are some free stock sites online and there are many artists who offer free stock on their sites or other art galleries. Just make sure you read the usage terms carefully as there may be different rules for different images (and make sure the stock sites are legit). You can also learn to create the art you need yourself! It takes time and effort, but it’s way more fun and fulfilling, and you’ll find artists are very welcoming and generous to people who want to learn the craft, offering all kinds of free tutorials and advice all over the internet.
okay so ia trying to use Mid journey but its so confusing to were i need to pay for a subscription because it won't let me get access to the color pages i want so i have no ides where i can pay for the subcription at on the website
*Hi 💕Ivy, I think it's a helpful video for everyone. I had a question, Will my account be suspended if I use free color images without a Midjourney subscription?*
Thanks for this tutorial! I'm wondering if there are other image enlarger tools that might be cheaper than $9/month? Also, how do you make sure your first coloring image is on the right side/spread of the book and the blanks are on the left/behind them...? I'm assuming like most books when you open it, there's the initial page that is blank and then the next page is maybe the copyright page/book info and whatnot and then the coloring book begins... Not sure how to create that correctly!? Thanks!
Thanks for your kind comment! Regarding your question on pages, Amazon KDP prints the first page you have as the first page in the book so there are no random blank pages in the front. Copyright pages will only be there in the front if you add them yourself. So basically the first page you have in canva will be the first page ppl see when they flip open your book :). Unfortunately I’m not familiar with other image enlargers as that’s the one I use mainly. However, might be worthwhile to see if you can find something that is cheaper/ with more free images via google, etc. Hope this helps!
@@ivyhang5084 that makes sense, thank you! Last question... how do we know Midjourney's graphics are free for commercial use? I really enjoy your videos. They are quick and to the point!
@@JessicaNiles Hey, I was watching Ivy's other videos & she mentioned in one that images generated by Midjourney in the free trial are not commercially usable. If you get the subscription, starting from $8, I think, can you use them commercially.
There is both a free and paid version - however if you plan on using your images for commercial purposes then you will need to have a paid version of the account.
another awesome video. Another creator suggested using an aspect ratio of 9:16 for the coloring page, whereas you suggest 17:22, both for the same size book. Can there be more than one ar for coloring pages for an 8.5 x 11 book? I am very new to all of this. thank you.

I tried searching for "old photo restoration" and a bunch of options showed up. Hope this helps! And appreciate your feedback on the microphone - i agree it could definitely have been better for this video! :)
@@ivyhang5084 understand I have question for you This book with bear when you was making cover on left panel u used pencil for color matching .Seems Canva is changed i dont see this pencil now I am making different story with bear 20 pages .Color book
If you go to the top you should see a colorful square (for background color). Click on that and you will see a number of colors to choose from. At the top left of those options you should see a colorful square again with a “+” sign. If you click on that you will find the pencil to match colors. Hope this works for you.
Unpaid account images cannot be used for commercial purposes so if you are planning to sell the images as part of a product you’ll need to get the paid account. Hope this helps!

I have watched many videos and have published books on Amazon KDP as well, but this is the best videos I have seen you make. I wish you success
I want a video from you in which you talk about the best ways how to but categories to books, because it is the most overpowering thing when I publish books
if there way can i connect with you to can explain more.
Thank you
Thank you for your kind words and will look to publish more videos on kdp to cover the various topics suggested :)
Hi Ivy, Thank you so much for your great videos. To use Midjourney, do I need to pay for a subscription? Thx!
Hi, unfortunately, they have gotten rid of the free version, so you do have to pay to use Canva now (they have various plans, but lowest I believe is $10/ month). Hope this helps!
How good is the quality of the paper on amazon? Some Books I ordered are not that great
How to Use with Bluewillow AI or Leonardo AI

Thanks for the question - Will add that to my list of videos to eventually create :)
Question - did you ever upload your coloring books to kindle ebook? And if so did you leave the blank pages or did you delete them?
Unfortunately, I haven't tried uploading coloring books to kindle ebook, I've only done coloring books in the paperback format.
@@ivyhang5084tnx a lot for your answer.
You nailed it with total professionalism. So many other RUclips videos that just create horrible quality books for the customers. You took the time to make sure it's top notch in every way. Thanks.
Wow, thank you for your kind comment! Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Can we just publish a book under our personal name, without any publishing company? or would it be best to start a company and create the books under that name?
You can certainly just start even with a pen name :)
@@ivyhang5084 That's good to know. I was assuming there would be legal aspects to publishing a book, but maybe not with "digitally uploaded books". So a made-up name is fine? Unicorn Man. Dreamscape Dude (not being serious), etc....
Thank you for this video. I have created my first image and LOVE it but the following images I am trying to create do not have the consistent character look and feel. Is there a way to create consistent character on Midjourney Bot?
Thanks for your comment! Regarding your question - creating consistent characters on midjourney will definitely be a bit of trial and error but I have created a video previously on this topic which hopefully you might find helpful :)

How much margin should be left for coloring book ?? Taking into consideration it is A4 size book
Thanks for video , can pl get a good micro phone ?
Thanks for watching the video - and yes, hoping to invest in one soon :)
Can you create a prompt to have a coloring page - same image of the cover but in black outline and looks like a coloring page?
Yes but I would recommend uploading the cover to midjourney and then using that image link as part of the prompt to create the colouring page. You can check out my video here will will give more details on reference images and seed :)

Hi if we on Canva we cannot use them as a stand alone, but the image from midjourney can be used as it is? thank you, I'm learning a lot!
Thanks for your question and kind comment. Midjourney technically generates a different / unique image with each prompt where as canva elements are the same and available to everyone. However, I would say, even with ai images, like midjourney, if you have an ability to layer more elements, it might be the safer thing to do :)
@@ivyhang5084 Thank you so much for this! I really appreciate it!
Very interesting! May I ask why you didnt simply use the actual A4 aspect ratio of 210:297?
Great question and could have probably done that as well :)

Yes this would be ai generated / ai assisted
Hi Ivy. that was a great toturial. Thank you for the tuto. Could you please let us know how you got that page on canva ? Many thanks :)
Glad you enjoyed the video. Which page on canva are you referring to? The book cover template? If so, you can find the link here:
Amazon KDP Cover Calculator:

Excellent info, thanks a ton!!
Glad you found it helpful!
Do we download the interior and the cover seperately
Yup, that's correct! :)
U did not increase the book cover images
Why?
Wouldn't that reduce resolution
Can Midjourney dot be access freely?
Hi ivy please upload details video how to download browser extension for search I am from india
Are you referring to niche research tool?
Yes and thankyou for replying
Which plan do you use for mid journey is the basic plan good enough
I’m currently using the basic plan and find that it is diffident so far. :)
Great Video!
Thanks!
The problem is and like many other things to sell this market appears to be over saturated, so many people doing similar books. You need too stand and that's difficult.
While certain niches are saturated, there are definitely still a lot of untapped niches - key is to do product research :)
Do we upload the interior of the book and the cover /back of the book separately
Yes that's correct :) On KDP you would upload the 2 files separately as part of the book upload process. Hope this helps!
@@ivyhang5084 thank you so much
I would love to test Midjourney but everyt time I do, it tells me due to high demand they can't do free ones and I kinda hesitate to pay if I don't know if it works for me
Definitely try again during off peak hours and hopefully you will e able to get in and try it out :)
@@XarahDax I hope it works out!
Hi Ivy, I have a quick question .
Is it safe to use the images generated from Midjourney for commercial purposes like selling my coloring books on Amazon , will my account be banned for not subscribing to the pro version (if there's) ?
Thanks .
Hi,
to answer your question: you can not use the free version of midjourney for commercial purposes, only for personal use. You must take a subscription, for example, the lowest plan for 10 bucks per month or 8 bucks per month (yearly billed)
@@akikocht4116 Okay , Thanks .
Please, can you recommend anyone that I can use it's free version for commercial purposes.

Thank so much
I would like to know how many sales you have made from coloring books generated by AI last month ?
Truely amazing! Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks
Thank you for leaving a comment! :)

There is both a free and paid version - however if you plan on using your images for commercial purposes then you will need to have a paid version of the account.

mid journey is useless is there another one i can use?
What makes it useless? It is a very powerful tool. You’re most likely encountering a user error
another awesome video. Another creator suggested using an aspect ratio of 9:16 for the coloring page, whereas you suggest 17:22, both for the same size book. Can there be more than one ar for coloring pages for an 8.5 x 11 book? I am very new to all of this. thank you.
8.5 x 2=17 ; 11 x 2 = 22

This book with bear when you was making cover on left panel u used pencil for color matching .Seems Canva is changed i dont see this pencil now
I am making different story with bear 20 pages .Color book
If you go to the top you should see a colorful square (for background color). Click on that and you will see a number of colors to choose from.
