Amazon KDP scammed me out of nearly $4000 dollars. They never provided the media promotion that I spent thousands on because Amazon did not accept my book and they knew Amazon did not accept my book. They weren't done they tried to scam me for $1100. to get a copyright that only costs $125. It was all scam.

Thank you for your comment! Glad you enjoy my videos :) I believe the Bobbi Goods coloring books are based on hand drawn illustrations. If you want a specific style of drawing then will probably be best to hire an illustrator or you could try generating with AI too but could be a hit or miss.

Thanks for your kind comment. Regarding your question- that would be the final step shown on this video where we upload both the cover file and interior file to Amazon KDP. The actual manufacturing and printing of your book will happen when a customer orders your book - that step will completely be managed by Amazon given this is a print on demand model :)
Thank you for your excellent video, which provided valuable information. However, I had a negative experience with The Publisher’s Vault, which you recommended. After choosing not to pursue membership with the $1 24-hour trial, I received an aggressive email threatening to cancel my KDP account, which I don't have. This was surprising and concerning, as I have no intention of selling colouring books or anything similar. It is sad to consider potential members dishonest and have bad intentions. Maybe The Publisher’s Vault should reconsider the trial period approach.

Just FYI friends, I signed up for the publishing vault. You can only use the art you download if you keep up your monthly $27 membership. Once you are no longer a member, you can't use any of it for kdp or anything else. They are $67 a pack if you buy them outright. :(
This is incorrect. If you've uploaded to KDP then yes you can keep the books up there. However you may not use the graphics again for any other project. This is stated in the terms. For the quality in the vault...$27 is a no-brainer.
Creative Fabrica and canva pro are both the same and any other PLR store. This is normal. You can not download the whole store to use later and just stop paying.😅

As long as you follow the trim size/ margin requirement outlined by kdp (and I walk through it in this and my other videos as well) then you should be fine. Hi Ivy, thank you for the great content, I followed your other video "Create a Coloring Book to Sell on Amazon KDP using Canva - Step by Step Tutorial (2024)" step to step however amazon rejected mine giving below error : We checked your files and found issues you need to fix before your book can be published on KDP: Interior Add 0.125" (3.2 mm) to your book's page width and 0.25" (6.4 mm) to the page height to ensure that the images in your manuscript extend beyond the edge of the page. Once you have added the size, extend any images or backgrounds that you want to reach all the way to the edge of the page 0.125” (3.2 mm) beyond the trim line. This prevents manufacturing issues when the file is trimmed to size. See examples PDF page(s) 1. Watch our video, which explains trim size, margins, and bleed. Where possible, we give pages numbers with examples. To make sure your entire book meets our guidelines, please review your entire manuscript file and fix all issues. what should I do to rectify?
hello Thank you for the video you provided, it is very helpful. I have a question. I was impressed with the categories part of the video. In other videos, you end with one category, but in this video, you keep adding 3 categories. Is there a reason for that, or does it help you sell more?
Thank you for your comment. Regarding your question, kdp allows you to select up to 3 categories now (although you don’t have to pick all 3). If you can, I would recommend picking all 3 categories as that will just give more avenues for potential customers to find your book (ie your book will be listed under more categories within kdp). Thank you for your tutorials! I'm trying to layer some elements from Canva that are just outline images. Is there a way to fill them with white so I can layer them without them being transparent (seeing the back image through the firs)?
Thank you for your kind comment! The only method I could think of is you could save / download the individual element as is against a white background first. Then you can re-upload that element into Canva. Bring the re-uploaded element (which now has a white background) back into your page. Then select the element and use the "remove background" capability within Canva. This should just remove the background around the lines but leave the white that is within the image intact. Maybe give it a try for one element first to see if it works?

Thank you for your kind comment! I’m not as familiar with Etsy requirements so would recommend you look into that separately. However for KDP, when it comes to paperback books there is no exclusivity requirement at the moment which means your books can be sold via other platforms as well. For digital / ebooks though if you are enrolled in the KDP select program then you need to make sure the ebook version of your book is exclusive to kdp. Hope this helps!

In terms of showing back cover, that only exists for non-low content books (i.e. high/ medium content books). If it is low content, the only way to show your back cover is to leverage A+ content (you can check out the video I have on my channel on this). Hope this helps! :)

Its been 4 month i uploaded these. All the A+ contents are uploaded and covers are in the same level as other similar books. Can u give me few more tips to get rank my books and make daily sales... Thank you so much for your kind comment and congratulations on publishing your coloring books and making sales!! 😊 regarding getting more sales, other things you could consider doing is lowering your price initially to get those initial sales/ reviews before bringing your price back to target level. Also can consider running ppc ads to give your books more exposure. All the best!
Would the following steps work also for ebook or printables? Or when choosing 'paperback', it would be amazon that'll do the printing of the book? I'm just confused and worried since I wanna give this a try but I'm not from the US😅
Thanks for your question! This tutorial is for paperback and yes, Amazon KDP will do the printing and shipping for us everytime there is an order. It's a print on demand model, so it's pretty hands off :) Hope this helps!
if i choose a release date, can I change it later on and release it immediately? i like to always order a copy first to make sure its all good. do you have a video on how to convert a paperback book to a hardcover option? do I use the same ISBN in paperback and in hardcover? thanks.
I haven't personally tried that but I believe you could. You can also let it go live and then order a copy right away. While you are waiting for the copy to arrive, you can put the book back in draft mode and then just flip it back to live mode after you receive a copy of your book and happy with the quality :)

you choose to go to the vult company here is something to take in mind ""An active subscription is required to continue selling the digital products. When your subscription is ended you need to remove the files from your computer and any products you have created that is uploaded and is currently being sold can remain in place"" Subscription is 27 per month. I have sold a few books on KDP and unless your very very lucky you will make that subscription money back, but defenitly not at the beginning... NOT trying to discourage you just trying to be transparent if this lady stops paying that membership she will have to remove her coloring book and delete all files on her computer or she can do a buy out that's usually really expensive to do
The key details have been included in the video description where the link to the $1 trial is placed - hopefully that provides sufficient clarity to those interested in trying it out :)
The minimum number of pages is 24 pages if you want to publish your book as a paperback on kdp. If you have 17 designs, one on each page and you are leaving the back side of each page blank then you would technically have 34 pages (17 sheets) so you would be fine :)

came across a post that says our image dpi must be at least 300 but in all your videos u don't seem to talk about it or check the dpi before uploading to kdp. I have an ai generated image of 96dpi can i use it? would be glad if u could make a video regarding dpi and how to check Canva image dpi and how to enhance images on Canva using Canva enhancer app.
Thanks for your question! Regarding ai generated images, I would definitely recommend upscaling it with an ai image upscale tool before uploading it onto canva to create your books. There are many free ones out there that you could leverage - like “IMG upscaler”, etc. (google free ai image upscaler and you will see many options). These web based tools will allow you to upscale your ai image by 200-400% which based on my experience has been sufficient to ensure the books are printed in good quality. Hope this helps!
Thanks for this video. Just noticed that in the publishers vault FAQs says Q: Can I Claim Copyright on Products I Customize? A: While customization is allowed, it does not transfer copyright to you. You can edit and resell the products, but you cannot claim them as entirely your own creation. So my understsnding is that we cannot answer 'yes' we have the copyright in KDP when uploading this book. Or have I missed something here?
Hello, I am the owner of the publishers vault. The copyright question amazon are asking is for the book you created using my graphics...not the graphics itself. Yes you can click the Yes option in amazon KDP. What I don't want people to do is simple take my graphics and put it in their own membership. I look forward to seeing you in the members area.
Thanks for your comment! I am planning to create a video soon on some tips to get your first sales. However, in the meanwhile, some quick tips include trying out amazon ads, keyword /niche research, getting reviews, leveraging A+ content to make your listing more attractive, etc. All the best!
Amazon KDP is a print on demand model, so they will print and deliver your book for your upon a customer ordering your book on their platform. Printing and delivery is very fast (within a day or 2 especially if the customer is an Amazon Prime member).
I was all set to begin with KDP but before I started I did an online search for user reviews. I found an abundance of 1 star reviews for KDP. Most reviewers reported that Amazon had terminated their account and were withholding the royalties. Can you tell me your thoughts on this?
I have certainly heard of these types of situations but I personally have not experienced this. I think as long as you abide by their rules and make sure you don’t have copyright issues etc then generally you should be fine. I’ve also heard of many situations where ppl are suspended but just temporarily so it’s definitely a resolvable situation in most cases. All in all though, kdp is great because it’s one of the few things you could do with no capital investment required upfront (aside from tools needed to create your book). Hope this helps!
I don't typically add anything to the back pages which are blank. I typically just leave them blank and have not experienced any issues with publishing my coloring books this way on KDP thus far. However, if you prefer, you can certainly add a border or any sort of design element on the back pages, although I would suggest only adding it if it makes sense from a flow/ aesthetic perspective for your book and would recommend not adding it just for the sake of adding it. Hope this helps! :)

While it is possible, you can also mitigate this risk by combining different illustrations within the pack and across different packs in a unique way to create pages that would still be unique. You can also combine elements from other sources like canva/ AI, etc. if preferred in addition to the illustrations from the Publisher's Vault. In addition, they consistently add new content to the Vault throughout the month so there will constantly be fresh content as well :)

Cover page spreads across the entire book, that is front and back of the book plus the spine of the book. That is why it is 17.39 x 11.25 inches. The interior is a single page, ie.8.625 x 11.25 inches
What if you did the inside pages on PowerPoint and you dont want to use margins (handwriting activity book). Will this affect the printing or cause it to look unprofessional
I have not personally tried using PowerPoint for my books so cannot say for sure, sorry! However, if you are able to, I would recommend using Canva because that way you could follow my steps to make sure you have the proper pages sizes and margins that will be accepted by Amazon KDP. I have a question please about the 7 keywords list. I thought you couldn’t choose keywords that are already in the title of your book? Or am I wrong? I am referring to Amazon’s explanation on how to choose keywords. Please let me know if you have a moment. Thank you!
I haven't had any issues with this in the past, although if possible, it is more beneficial to try to use more different key words because that way your book will show up for a wider variety of search terms. Will just need to make sure the search terms are relevant to your book though such that when people click on it they will want to buy it :) Hope this helps!

I’m sorry to hear. Do you mean uploading the png file for the cover template into canva? If so, you could also try just copy and pasting using the CTRL C and CTRL V functions. Hope that works!
Do you mean 7 key words some of which might contain the same key word within it like “martial arts colouring book” vs “kids coloring book”? In this case coloring book shows up in two different key words - Is this the scenario you are referring to? If so then it would be fine - I haven’t had any issues in the past. Hope this helps!
Say I start KDP from zero, have zero money for Ads! But if I have a couple of good books after lots of research and very good SEO, is it possible to sell even if I spend $0 on ads. (Taking a couple of weeks/months is fine for me)
Yes, from personal experience, it is definitely possible to make sales without the use of ads! However, to your point, you will need to make sure your book is of very high quality and that you have done proper niche research to validate that the book category is not too competitive and has good demand :)

Thank you for your comment! Glad you enjoy my videos :) I believe the Bobbi Goods coloring books are based on hand drawn illustrations. If you want a specific style of drawing then will probably be best to hire an illustrator or you could try generating with AI too but could be a hit or miss.

Thanks for your kind comment. Regarding your question- that would be the final step shown on this video where we upload both the cover file and interior file to Amazon KDP. The actual manufacturing and printing of your book will happen when a customer orders your book - that step will completely be managed by Amazon given this is a print on demand model :)

Thank you for your excellent video, which provided valuable information. However, I had a negative experience with The Publisher’s Vault, which you recommended. After choosing not to pursue membership with the $1 24-hour trial, I received an aggressive email threatening to cancel my KDP account, which I don't have. This was surprising and concerning, as I have no intention of selling colouring books or anything similar. It is sad to consider potential members dishonest and have bad intentions. Maybe The Publisher’s Vault should reconsider the trial period approach.

Just FYI friends, I signed up for the publishing vault. You can only use the art you download if you keep up your monthly $27 membership. Once you are no longer a member, you can't use any of it for kdp or anything else. They are $67 a pack if you buy them outright. :(
This is incorrect. If you've uploaded to KDP then yes you can keep the books up there. However you may not use the graphics again for any other project. This is stated in the terms. For the quality in the vault...$27 is a no-brainer.
Creative Fabrica and canva pro are both the same and any other PLR store. This is normal. You can not download the whole store to use later and just stop paying.😅

As long as you follow the trim size/ margin requirement outlined by kdp (and I walk through it in this and my other videos as well) then you should be fine. We checked your files and found issues you need to fix before your book can be published on KDP:
Interior
Add 0.125" (3.2 mm) to your book's page width and 0.25" (6.4 mm) to the page height to ensure that the images in your manuscript extend beyond the edge of the page. Once you have added the size, extend any images or backgrounds that you want to reach all the way to the edge of the page 0.125” (3.2 mm) beyond the trim line. This prevents manufacturing issues when the file is trimmed to size. See examples PDF page(s) 1. Watch our video, which explains trim size, margins, and bleed.
Where possible, we give pages numbers with examples. To make sure your entire book meets our guidelines, please review your entire manuscript file and fix all issues.

I was impressed with the categories part of the video. In other videos, you end with one category, but in this video, you keep adding 3 categories. Is there a reason for that, or does it help you sell more?
Thank you for your comment. Regarding your question, kdp allows you to select up to 3 categories now (although you don’t have to pick all 3). If you can, I would recommend picking all 3 categories as that will just give more avenues for potential customers to find your book (ie your book will be listed under more categories within kdp). Thank you for your tutorials! I'm trying to layer some elements from Canva that are just outline images. Is there a way to fill them with white so I can layer them without them being transparent (seeing the back image through the firs)?
Thank you for your kind comment! The only method I could think of is you could save / download the individual element as is against a white background first. Then you can re-upload that element into Canva. Bring the re-uploaded element (which now has a white background) back into your page. Then select the element and use the "remove background" capability within Canva. This should just remove the background around the lines but leave the white that is within the image intact. Maybe give it a try for one element first to see if it works?

Thank you for your kind comment! I’m not as familiar with Etsy requirements so would recommend you look into that separately. However for KDP, when it comes to paperback books there is no exclusivity requirement at the moment which means your books can be sold via other platforms as well. For digital / ebooks though if you are enrolled in the KDP select program then you need to make sure the ebook version of your book is exclusive to kdp. Hope this helps!

In terms of showing back cover, that only exists for non-low content books (i.e. high/ medium content books). If it is low content, the only way to show your back cover is to leverage A+ content (you can check out the video I have on my channel on this). Hope this helps! :)

Also can consider running ppc ads to give your books more exposure. All the best!
Would the following steps work also for ebook or printables? Or when choosing 'paperback', it would be amazon that'll do the printing of the book? I'm just confused and worried since I wanna give this a try but I'm not from the US😅
Thanks for your question! This tutorial is for paperback and yes, Amazon KDP will do the printing and shipping for us everytime there is an order. It's a print on demand model, so it's pretty hands off :) Hope this helps!

I haven't personally tried that but I believe you could. You can also let it go live and then order a copy right away. While you are waiting for the copy to arrive, you can put the book back in draft mode and then just flip it back to live mode after you receive a copy of your book and happy with the quality :)

Subscription is 27 per month. I have sold a few books on KDP and unless your very very lucky you will make that subscription money back, but defenitly not at the beginning...

I just have a question is it okay to publish a coloring book with 17 desings , or it gonna be a problem with that ?
The minimum number of pages is 24 pages if you want to publish your book as a paperback on kdp. If you have 17 designs, one on each page and you are leaving the back side of each page blank then you would technically have 34 pages (17 sheets) so you would be fine :)

came across a post that says our image dpi must be at least 300 but in all your videos u don't seem to talk about it or check the dpi before uploading to kdp. I have an ai generated image of 96dpi can i use it? would be glad if u could make a video regarding dpi and how to check Canva image dpi and how to enhance images on Canva using Canva enhancer app.
Thanks for your question! Regarding ai generated images, I would definitely recommend upscaling it with an ai image upscale tool before uploading it onto canva to create your books. There are many free ones out there that you could leverage - like “IMG upscaler”, etc. (google free ai image upscaler and you will see many options). These web based tools will allow you to upscale your ai image by 200-400% which based on my experience has been sufficient to ensure the books are printed in good quality. Hope this helps!

Q: Can I Claim Copyright on Products I Customize?
A: While customization is allowed, it does not transfer copyright to you. You can edit and resell the products, but you cannot claim them as entirely your own creation.
So my understsnding is that we cannot answer 'yes' we have the copyright in KDP when uploading this book.
Or have I missed something here?
Hello, I am the owner of the publishers vault. The copyright question amazon are asking is for the book you created using my graphics...not the graphics itself. Yes you can click the Yes option in amazon KDP. What I don't want people to do is simple take my graphics and put it in their own membership. I look forward to seeing you in the members area.

Thanks for your comment! I am planning to create a video soon on some tips to get your first sales. However, in the meanwhile, some quick tips include trying out amazon ads, keyword /niche research, getting reviews, leveraging A+ content to make your listing more attractive, etc. All the best!
Will the KDP books be printed? And how long would it take for the books to be printed?
Amazon KDP is a print on demand model, so they will print and deliver your book for your upon a customer ordering your book on their platform. Printing and delivery is very fast (within a day or 2 especially if the customer is an Amazon Prime member).
I was all set to begin with KDP but before I started I did an online search for user reviews. I found an abundance of 1 star reviews for KDP. Most reviewers reported that Amazon had terminated their account and were withholding the royalties. Can you tell me your thoughts on this?
I have certainly heard of these types of situations but I personally have not experienced this. I think as long as you abide by their rules and make sure you don’t have copyright issues etc then generally you should be fine. I’ve also heard of many situations where ppl are suspended but just temporarily so it’s definitely a resolvable situation in most cases. All in all though, kdp is great because it’s one of the few things you could do with no capital investment required upfront (aside from tools needed to create your book). Hope this helps!
Do you add a border to the blank pages. KDP does not like blank pages Correct?
I don't typically add anything to the back pages which are blank. I typically just leave them blank and have not experienced any issues with publishing my coloring books this way on KDP thus far. However, if you prefer, you can certainly add a border or any sort of design element on the back pages, although I would suggest only adding it if it makes sense from a flow/ aesthetic perspective for your book and would recommend not adding it just for the sake of adding it. Hope this helps! :)

Thanks for your comment! While it is possible, you can also mitigate this risk by combining different illustrations within the pack and across different packs in a unique way to create pages that would still be unique. You can also combine elements from other sources like canva/ AI, etc. if preferred in addition to the illustrations from the Publisher's Vault. In addition, they consistently add new content to the Vault throughout the month so there will constantly be fresh content as well :)

Cover page spreads across the entire book, that is front and back of the book plus the spine of the book. That is why it is 17.39 x 11.25 inches. The interior is a single page, ie.8.625 x 11.25 inches

What if you did the inside pages on PowerPoint and you dont want to use margins (handwriting activity book). Will this affect the printing or cause it to look unprofessional
I have not personally tried using PowerPoint for my books so cannot say for sure, sorry! However, if you are able to, I would recommend using Canva because that way you could follow my steps to make sure you have the proper pages sizes and margins that will be accepted by Amazon KDP. I haven't had any issues with this in the past, although if possible, it is more beneficial to try to use more different key words because that way your book will show up for a wider variety of search terms. Will just need to make sure the search terms are relevant to your book though such that when people click on it they will want to buy it :) Hope this helps!

Do you mean 7 key words some of which might contain the same key word within it like “martial arts colouring book” vs “kids coloring book”? In this case coloring book shows up in two different key words - Is this the scenario you are referring to? If so then it would be fine - I haven’t had any issues in the past. Hope this helps!

Yes, from personal experience, it is definitely possible to make sales without the use of ads! However, to your point, you will need to make sure your book is of very high quality and that you have done proper niche research to validate that the book category is not too competitive and has good demand :)
