But Saruman was a positive character for centuries and Gandalf's closest associate, he even saved his life in the fight against Sauron. It doesn't make sense that he's the villain in this era
It has nothing to do with The Hobbit or Lord of the Rings. And nothing to do with Tolkien's works. This show is nothing but a rip-off show that took many characters names, places, events, and items linked to Tolkien's works. I don't even try and make it make sense anymore. I've long given up on believing they would turn around and go with Tolkien's work and his fans.
Gandalf's staff here and in Peter Jackson's films are the same, while the Dark Wizard and Saruman don't have the same staff. I mean, their staffs should be consistent because the staff chose to find them
It's fairly obvious the dark wizard is Saruman . He calls Gandalf "Old friend" just as he did in Jackson's Fellowship of the Ring and Hobbit films , he wears white robes and he has raven black hair just as Saruman was said to have when he first appeared in Middle Earth .
Yeah plus he talks with dark tone like Saruman he was the first wizard out of the 3 just like Saruman and he props his staff front and centre just like Saruman did. 100% him. They might even be doing a Saruman the grey thing but he dies and comes back in the all white like Gandalf did.
I hope not, that just breaks so much lore. I don’t think it is, look at his staff. If anything, Saruman might replace him eventually if he’s actually a dark wizard
@@sdaftermath123 Well he doesn't have the same staff Saruman had in the Jackson films that's true but that doesn't mean anything . The dark wizard himself said there are five of them so he either has to be Saruman or one of the blue , he's definitely not Radagast .
@@overheatedeskim054 Not sure about that , I would reckon it's more likely Gandalf might be able to convince him to chill and take a different approach in opposing Sauron .
I agree. And I might just be imagining it, but it seems to me like the actor is invoking Christopher Lee in his performance. In fact I was reminded a lot of another role he played, and one scene in particular; Attack of the clones- Dooku trying to deceive obi wan into joining him.
The scriptwriters are trying to make the "Dark Wizard" sound just like Saruman - but in order to make this change to Saruman plausible, they will have to come up with a lot more Ideas in the coming seasons. It will be more interesting to see how the newly discovered Gandalf, Saruman and maybe even Radagast become the valued friends and advisors to the human kings and elves in the coming seasons - until Gandalf even receives the third Elven ring from Cirdan. After all, Tolkien didn't give the wizards or Istari any role in the first ring war - someone will have to be very creative. In any case, I am relieved that ADAR did not suddenly turn out to be Galadriel's long-lost husband Celeborn - after his "healing" by Galadriel's Elven ring and her insistent question about his original name, I had feared something like this - but at least we were spared this story twist.
Of course the dark wizard is Saruman, the showrunners of Rings of Power have no creative talent, all they do most of the time is recreate scenes from the original trilogy. It was kind of obvious that the stranger was Gandalf and what do you know, it was Gandalf all along. I think it's funny how they try to make these mystery box characters that are obviously the characters everybody thinks they are.
He SHOULDN’T be Saruman . . . but the Stranger shouldn’t be Gandalf either.
Rings of Power is a crash course no telling what they’re gonna do

He's one of the blue wizards. Has to be, he has a cult in the east just like in the books.
Shouldn't a blue wizard be wearing blue?
@@michaeljones9553 Maybe maybe not. Look at him in the moonlight...he's blue...
@@TheV00d00D011just so used to bold colours in my wizards

Definitely not Saruman. My bet he is a rogue maiar that sided with Morgoth, or one of the Blue Wizards.
Witch king!

That being said, the next season will be interesting to watch.
Imo the last 2 episodes saved this season
It sure did

"Sore-on" -- no. Pronounce it "Sow (like a female pig) - ron."
