- The second season of The Rings of Power advances many of the series' plotlines, sparking numerous questions and theories for season 3. What’s intriguing is that The Rings of Power has a leg up when it comes to speculation because it draws from a rich mythology: Tolkien’s vast Lord of the Rings timeline. This makes it a bit easier to predict what might unfold in season 3 compared to original narratives that aren't based on existing works. The conclusion of The Rings of Power season 2 effectively ties up most of the key storylines while hinting at what’s ahead. Characters throughout Middle-earth are grappling with their own challenges, such as the looming presence of Sauron over the elves and Númenor, the Balrog menacing Khazad-doom, and the Dark Wizard who plays a role in revealing The Stranger’s true identity as Gandalf. With the backdrop of war and the creation of the series' iconic rings, there are plenty of plotlines that could carry over into season 3, drawn from both Tolkien's works and original ideas.
The central struggle between Sauron and the elves in Tolkien's writings is known as The War of the Elves and Sauron. During the Second Age of Middle-earth, this conflict started with the Siege of Eregiorn, as Sauron aimed to take control of the Rings of Power. Once he succeeded and pillaged Eregiorn, his forces expanded across Eriador, engaging in multiple battles against the elves. This conflict was hinted at by Gil-galad in the final scene of season 2 of The Rings of Power. In season 3 of The Rings of Power, it’s very likely that we’ll see the depiction of two significant battles from The War of the Elves and Sauron. The first is the Siege of Imladris, where Sauron tries to seize Rivendell from Elrond’s newly established stronghold. The second is the Battle of the Gwathló, where Gil-galad defends the elven capital of Lindon against Sauron’s forces.

The narrator needs to 'learn' how to pronounce correctly the names of Tolkien's characters, as it is annoying to listen to the narrator.

In Season 3, the Balrog turns out to just be misunderstood and needs a hug. Sauron & Galadriel become an item, just like Tolkien MUST have meant. Characters can be shot, burned, stabbed, and fall hundreds of feet without dying unless, of course, the plot needs them to. Oh, wait- that already happens. AND a family of orcs moves in next to the elves, giving us a "goofy neighbor/odd couple" type comedy. You know, because there IS no LOTR canon. You could combine fan fiction from a 12-year-old and a finger painting from a 3-year-old and call it canon. Right? Actually, the fan fic/finger painting would probably be more interesting and logical than what these clowns put out. Sadly, Jeff Bozos' ego won't allow this to be cancelled. It makes you wonder how he became a billionaire...

Yes! I LOVE when there are extensive fight sequences with characters that we know will live, like Sauron vs Galadriel, because flinging swords around with no consequences makes for really epic TV!

I laughed out loud at the tv several times when usually I get one or two chuckles from episode to episode. This show. Seriously. All it’s missing is the music to Benny Hill playing in the background.

I burst out laughing after watching the series when I remembered Sauron fall over and slide off a mountain then get picked up by a cart wheel like a bug. Then jump some random old lady. Is this even in the book? The event in itself is credible taken alone, but when opposed to the character's dignity and the context, it's comedy gold. The series is indeed cringe no matter how much I forced myself to ignore the nonsense. What where they thinking...

It plays like a John Huges movie: Gil-Galad is the arrogant but well intentioned prep school head master, Celebrimbor is the brilliant but bumbling math teacher, Galadriel is the star pupil attracted to the outcast bad boy (Sauron) and Elrond is the nerd with unrequited love. This show was written for teen in the 80's
bad cast. Plus mixing races insults my knowledge of genetics and anthropology :D I don't believe Tolkien had a multicultural agenda, and multicultural also means mixing the stupid with the smart, which is of course stupid. Multiculturalism is also positive discrimination therefore negative discrimination inclusive

it is a diffrent take on the tolkiens stories and that is ok. it dosent allways have to be exactly like the books. i am glad they are doing their own thing.
i belive season 3 will be the war between sauron and the elves, Galadries husband coming back, the situation in numenor and Gandalf learning to control his powers.
in season 4 we will se the one ring be created and baradur coming to be before the fall of numenor.
season 5 is hard to tell right now.

No it absolutely is not. Tolkien spent DECADES writing and editing it so it all hung together; and his son Christopher spent decades bringing together as much as he could of other incomplete texts.
Whereas this show has people falling from great heights and surviving; has them standing in front of a volcano, houses and horses set on fire but NOT EVEN THE CHARACTER'S HAIR IS SINGED.
If you don't take the Tolkien text into account, the show is utterly incompetent. If you take the Tolkien text into account, it's nothing less than a sin. The idea that anybody in the human species will in any way ignore thousands of years of brain development to complement this show in any way is a betrayal of those thousands of years of development.
They should have just "done their own thing" and not dragged Tolkien's work down into the mud and filth.

WTF is that? Elrond the Nutless giving tongue to Guyladriel.....his future Mother-in-Law, seriously? This show is garbage, pure and simple. That Jeffy has enough money to keep producing this turd inspite of losing money hand over fist only points out the absurdity of you people continuing to heap false praise on it. How does that jacket with the T.R.O.P. logo on it fitting these days? What else did you get in your goody package from Jeffy? Did you find your credibility in there Mr. Shill? Here's hoping 2 years from now T.R.O.P. will be nothing but a faded memory of how not to make a series by trashing the canon of a beloved story written by a true genius.

Don't watch it. I love tolkien's world and am enjoying the series as is my entire family. Yes, it is different from some lore, but there is plenty of correct lore in it.
