Flying to get the CHEAPEST AIRPLANE FUEL IN THE WORLD??

- I think I found the cheapest airplane fuel in the entire world!! After a tip from a pilot friend, Karla and I fly my AG5B Grumman Tiger from Los Angeles to Inyokern, California to get the lowest price AvGas I have ever seen!!! I guess that makes it the cheapest AvGas in the entire universe!! If you know of any 100LL that is any cheaper, I want to know about it.
Inyokern is a small airport in the Mojave desert along the easter slope of the Sierra Nevada. it's a popular location for gliding and soaring due to the mountain wave activity. One of my favorite things about general aviation is visiting these small out of the way airports that I would normally never go to.
Life is good when the price of a taco is more than the price of a gallon of AVGAS! 👍

On Sept. 2, 2018 the sleek Perlan 2 glider carried two pilots to 76,100 feet, or more than 14 miles, over the El Calafate region in southern Argentina. That's the highest altitude ever reached by humans aboard an unpowered fixed-wing aircraft, and one of the highest altitudes reached by an aircraft of any description.

Did a video shoot at a gold mine right by the town of Mojave a couple years back. Also flew over this area when we bought our 210 in the Bay Area and took her home to Texas. Great video Bryan!

Thx Wayne! I always like to learn some “informative” info on my trips. Both Karla and I are team taco!! Haha. I used to have 2 Italian greyhounds. I love those dogs.
@@Wolficorntv, the IGs are super cute and/but energetic. The full-sized Greyhounds are "45 mph couch potatoes".
And this is why Wayne flies an inferior Diamond instead of a Tiger :-P
TACOS for sure! She's a keeper! $3.65 per gallon at the self serve at our home base, KBJC... down from $4.65 per gallon before COVID-19. The only bummer is our favorite local airport restaurants have been closed until just recently. I guess that's an excuse for my son and I to take the Tiger out and go fly and get some food this weekend, weather permitting! Thunderstorm season has kicked off here in Colorado.
She's definitely a keeper Gordon! Here in California, restaurant options are still non-existent except for place doing take out (sucks but I think it's the right way to go). Hope you're enjoying that new G5!
Wolficorn - oh, we’re loving those G5’s! Just did a night flight last Saturday and I can’t say enough about them! Makes flying approaches a lot easier thanks to the automation. I love how the HSI automatically changes course for you when you cross a fix or a waypoint. Just follow the magenta line!

Glad you like the videos Matthew. As far as getting a ride, you can do what they call a "discovery flight" at Vista Aviation. It's basically a beginner flight lesson to get you familiar with it. I'm not sure if they are instructing over there right now or not. I'm still social distancing so currently not flying with others (except my gf :) )

So how much is a normal fill up ?
Fuel price varies quite a bit, but it’s usually $4-5/gallon...but since oil prices have dropped so much since March, you can usually find someplace with gas @ 3.50/gal.

That pretty cool flying to get gas, How did it cost to fly there and how many Gals. does your plane hold. I just want to know. They build Flying cars in your state. I would like to get one, of course, I need a Million Dollars for one. It's a Plane & Chopper together. So I can take off in my back yard. OH, by the way, sound, like they need to event fly, threw Taco Bell for your Wife.
Hey Neptune! It was about 45 minutes so that is about 6-7 gallons of gas. The tank holds 51 but I only needed about 32 gallons that day.

It will go over 5 hours...longer than you want to be sitting there.

As a native of one of the worlds oil producing nations : I have to say that is CHEAP even compared to our local auto gasoline prices 👍🏽 and of course the fuel mentioned in the video is Avgas which is no less than 100 octane ( European rating) if am not mistaken WoW 😳
it's 100 low lead fuel...and yes it was crazy cheap. I wish that was the normal price :) Thx for watching!
Wolficorn Pleasure watching your channel and to put things into perspective that price works out at around 32 cents a litre ( metric around here) while 98 Octane Auto gas at the Pumps in my little corner of the World works out at roughly 52 cents a litre 🤭. Interesting figures
