Had an uncle that drove over that bridge while it was still in London during WWII. He had a vacation home in Havasu. When the bridge was moved and reassembled there, he again drove over the bridge. So he drove over the same bridge on 2 different continents.
Dude, nobody could come close to beating that accomplishment. That's really impressive. It's probably the 2nd most famous structure that was built in Europe than shipped to the USA 🇺🇸. 1st is of course is the Statue of Liberty gifted by us from France 🇫🇷. But the same London bridge that was crossed by thousands of people on 2 separate continents is for surely unique.
Thoroughly enjoyed that - having been over the current London Bridge many hundreds of times I hope to one day get to Lake Havasu myself and cross the original....thanks for taking the time to research and film this excellent video!
This is an amazing story of how Lake Havasu was born and how it became to be a great recycling project of moving the London Bridge to Arizona. Thanks for the history behind the McCullough chain saws and boat motors and how McCullough invested his millions into a local economy. I wonder if that investment paid off? I’ve been to the Arizona site several times and the London bridge many more times. Both are great feats. Now that we have all been grounded from international travel, I will have to continue to seek out interesting national places of interest. Keep up the great work, Wolficorn and keep the videos coming.
I worked for Wood family in Prescott AZ. There were pieces of the bridge in the garage with lettering on them and their fire place was made from the bridge stones as well. Super kind family, very welcoming.
Very pleasant deviation from the standard format. Some of my family visited the bridge early on and I wondered why on earth it ended up there - now I know :-) Thank you,
Very well done! I grew up in the 80's going there every summer as it was one of my Dad's favorite spots, my wife's parents also have a winter home down there by Parker. Havasu has always been a part of my life one way or another. Thanks for this video!
Another great video Bryan! I first heard of Lake Havasu in 1989 when just out of college was offered a job at the local tv station. Decided against it and stayed in Texas.
I have called LHC home now for two years and absolutely love it here. It gets a bit warm in the summer, but so does the winter…..lol. Lots of snow birds
I love seeing these kinds of videos. I've been in southern California my whole life and I know so little of the area around me. Just did my first true XC from KREI to KHII. Would totally do it again as I really only had time to land and taxi back.
I flew out to the London Bridge in 2016. It was kind of fun to see from the air, and the lake was beautiful. I have an old video of it all somewhere. Great job and story! Sorry we missed you when you where here! Totally would have made the trip up to Flag to have lunch!
Fantastic filming Wolficorn!! This was definitely worth the wait. Your narration is on point, and I appreciate the time you put fourth. P.S. purchasing Wolficorn merch👕

Enjoyed the video. I've actually been across the bridge. Used to deliver campers & R.V.'s across America from northern Indiana, & had to take a camper out to Lake Havasu City back in the late 90's. It was still considered a "new town" back then. Thanks for sharing. It brought back memories.
Landmark attractions were a big thing back in the 60s.. The Queen Mary, The spruce goose etc. the London bridge was a practical, usable landmark. I live there and drove over it last night, and most days.

Very interesting video! Thanks to your source at the museum for sharing pictures. Before seeing this, I thought you were joking or they had built a replica. As a side note, I had no idea the chainsaw was invented in 1958! Enjoyed the story.
Glad you liked it Sandy! It's an interesting story/ BTW...the chainsaw wasn't invented in 1958, it's just that that business was where McCullough amassed his fortune at the time.
I find this to be quite interesting I was kind of curious about what London Bridge and what exactly happened when London Bridge was sold to Arizona My guess is London Bridge was falling down into the Thames River
Hey, that was very educational, thank you! I´ve had it on my bucket list for a while, and after these crazy times allow travelling again I´ll some see it, Europe-HII via MYF.
The bridge was meant to be an attraction for a resort town, and it is. Great scenery, great fun to be had. Mohave County is very corrupt, and Lake Havasu City is as corrupt as the summer day is long. Please be safe.
I think we need to stop calling your videos..... “videos”. Let’s give credit where credit is due. Your work to me is a short film/movie or documentary. Extremely well done my friend.
If it wasn't for McCulloch and Lake Havasu London bridge could have been sold for building material or broken into small pieces and sold a pieces of original London bridge . He single handedly save what I consider a architectural treasure.
Think about the archeologists of the future, say 15,000 years from now. We discovered an ancient bridge that was built in the middle of a desert at least 150' above the only river in the area. We thought we had it figured out when we found the remains of a dam downstream, it could have backed water up to the elevation of the ancient bridge. But with our dating technology we can prove that the bridge stones were quarried about 100 years before the dam was built. On top of that we can find no quarry location that matches the rock type used in the bridge.
Everytime I think of Lake Havasu, I'm reminded of the movie Falling Down, Robert Duvall's crazy wife was itching for him to retire as a cop and move her there so she could see the bridge 🌉 lol!
The truth of the matter is that McCulloch thought he had bought Tower Bridge from London. The one that raises to let ships through. That was to be the attraction over the lake. By the time he realized he had bought the wrong bridge, it was already in the USA. People knew he had bought the wrong bridge, but because of his wealth, none of his yes men told him.
While I have heard that rumor as well, in reality, based on my research, I don't think that is true whatsoever. There were too many details involved with the purchase and transport logistics that it seems almost impossible for that to be the case.
