Love the videos over the years. We were heading up to Chatterbox when we saw you in Pender. We only made it as far as Cap Sante before we gave up due to weather. Even the north entrance to La Conner was frozen. Had to go around thru Deception. Glad you were in port for the worst of it. Cheers
Thanks for your great tour! Oh...the food...yummm. We also live on a boat and you are totally correct in your assessment of the water situation. A lesson for us all to conserve.
Really enjoy your videos. So much interesting information and perspectives. We used to live in Whidbey Island and take day trips over to Victoria... our favorite. Vancouver is beautiful but we never visited in winter. A nostalgic trip down memory lane for us. Thank you so much. Moreover, we enjoy the pleasant and respectful interaction between you and Sean. You two make a perfect couple.
Awesome content Vancouver is truly the best city on the west coast. You got ocean and the mountains in the background with its many hiking trail like the howe sound crest trail and it’s pristine lakes. In the winter you got Whistler 2 hour drive up the sea to sky.
Great video and an aqua bus! Pretty cute! I've always heard some pretty magical things about the West coast of Canada/Vancouver/Victoria! Finally got to see Victoria on a cruise stop! This video gave me good flashbacks! You guys are awesome, remember to cherish each other! You got a good thing going! Best wishes! 🙂
It's good to see you guys are out in a bow enjoyed your video.. Hopefully 2023 will be filled with exciting benefits hoping for the best.... You guys be safe and enjoy..
For anybody who wants to continue boating in the winter there are a couple things to keep on board that will help you. You can go online or go into a large camping supply store like camping world. They have a water hose that has a built-in heater. It will stop the water in the hose from freezing as long as the power stays on. You also want to keep a snow shovel or two on board. Most people don't realize that the number one thing that will sink a boat is a buildup of snow. I remember in 2010 that we really was not seeing for snow amounts that we normally did as long as I have been alive. The winter of 2010 made up for all the snow we hadn't seen close to 10 years there were so many boats that were not prepared. So many boats went down tied to the dock. If you are staying someplace that water freezes around your boat you only have really two options. Have your boat pulled out every winter or buy a special device that keeps the water moving around the outside of the boat. Depending on the size of your boat you might need two or more. And if you have your boat in the water during the winter you really need to go check on it.
were you born in 97? lol 96 was a hella winter so was 98 in Tofino Nanaimo. I was born and raised on the water and before 99 not many boats sunk from snow because people that owned boats were mariners. Then money came down the pipe and all hands bought boats which prompted a course because they had no clue and those that did have a clue read it in a book which means they didnt have a clue lol
You need to come over to Gibsons on sunshine coast! Pop over to Grammas Marine Pub, stroll up to bar and ask for Gail! I'll serve you up some great food & beer!
What a trip! Great tour around Van. As a local Vancouverite I still enjoyed seeing what you loved to check out. Granville Island is a definite jewel and a foodie’s dream. Next time you come, I recommend heading over to North Van on the Seabus and heading for a hike up Grouse mountain if you can, or over to Deep Cove for a hike up Quarry Rock. Makes for an amazing Vancouver day.
Welcome back! Vancouver does have a lot of good things to offer. I love Main Street and Granville Island. North Vancouver for hiking if you don't have time to go outside the city.
Saw you guys on AIS for this entire Canadian journey. Looking forward to the whole story, and thanks for sharing thus far. Hey! Get a couple bags of ice melt or even just rock salt. I won't bore you how it works, but science is fun, and it will make frozen ice go away! A bag or 2 would easily get you through a NW Winter.
Your channel is an excellent resource for any boater considering cruising the Pacific Northwest/Salish Sea.I appreciate all the time and effort you invest in making it such, thank you
Vancouver is amazing. Stanley Park, Granville Isle, The whole water side walkway, take a tour on a seaplane if you can, and also, eat, eat, eat all over. In summer the Butgart Gardens, and the Botanical Gardens, and, I can't remember but the old part of town, with Steam and clocks, etc. I lvoe each time I visit. Also, they have a huge Fireworks Festival.
Wow, much hate in the comments. Too bad folks can't let the anger go somewhere positive instead of ripping anything within reach. I enjoyed the video and loved the city tour. Awesome architecture everywhere. That market was incredible, probably a 5 pound gainer just to get out of there. Thanks
I'm viewing your past videos Sept 2015 on Orca. I truly enjoy those going up and down the Canadian and US Pacific coast on your trawler, I can only hope to one day to make it there but for now I enjoy seeing your adventures that you share with us all. Thank you for sharing, be safe and have a great time in Canada. 😊👍🇨🇦
Great video, thanks for sharing views of a beautiful city. We live in mid Vancouver Island and don’t take advantage of the experience of staying right in the heart of the city.
I enjoyed the tour of Vancouver. Such a beautiful city! I would love to visit the food mart to do some shopping and get a bite to eat. That pie sure looked delicious!
The owner of the mini ferry's just announced after Christmas, that he was retiring and the company is up for sale! He has 18 boats and 125 employees. He is 74 years young too. Might be a good fit for you.
Canada is usually very open to US Citizens owning business's in Canada. We don't require Green cards or anything like that like the US to work here. Check it out with the Vancouver Board of Trade.
My home port, but what a wonderful tour! From all the blue skies you showed us on your video, it's always that way in Vancouver, right? Never mind, when it rains, the locals head to Granville Island. My mother grew up 2 blocks from the Kitsilano Pool, where she took swimming lessons and performed at the summer Kitsilano Showboat stage, just in front of the pool. It is a unique place. Thank-you for showing it to us.
I feel just like Shawn. Everytime I get on a boat no matter what ths size from a fishing boat to a cruise ship I want to drive it. I need to drive this thing!
The large motor yacht you panned to while leaving the marina in false creek is the M.V HOTEI famous for being the home of "Mel and Susan Profitt" played by Kevin Spacey and Joan Severance respectively on the CBS show "Wiseguy" filmed in the Metro Vancouver area in 1988 , I like your boat , if you want a nice place to anchor that is sheltered from winter storms try Pender Harbor, the garden bay marina has full facilities and a grocery store and there is a super market and pub further ashore, Robin Williams used to have a summer place there.
I love watching your guys channel, I used to work for a company in Sarasota doing teak decks on cruise ships and trimming yacht decks at the shop. Been to Vancouver a couple times and it's a beautiful city. We did wet dock for a week and a half at One Canada Place on one of the Princess ships before they sailed to Alaska. The whole crew ended up going up to Grouse Mountain any other ski resort which had just shut down the day before and then we went to the suspension bridge and also the trout hatchery. Only place I've been to where I watched an Orca actually snatch up a sea lion.
I started watching your channel and subscribed back and I believe 2020 during the pandemic. Since I used to be a marine Carpenter and subscribe to a lot of the yacht channels I always enjoy the videos that you and Shawn put out
And take for granted as I think I've told you guys before, I've been to Seattle probably four or five times working at Todd shipyard during dry dock on cruise ships. I miss that trek. That was back in the late '90s.
thank you! lovely insights to our beautiful city and Granville Island....next time stop by our Soap gallery on Granville Island for boat/lake safe soaps! No sludge or plankton/algae bloom..... and nice on all the bits and pieces of the bod too.
I always admire Shaw's technical expertise and love for microfiber towels. My question is: how did you get power to your bow/anchor pulpit light? Did you actually route it through the rails? Great video as always. Your videography and editing game has really leveled up over the years. I am not the only one that appreciates all your time and effort put into the videos.
Hi Elizabeth & Sean! We’re boaters and huge fans of yours. We live close to Vancouver and will be in the city for a little staycation tomorrow & Tuesday (Jan. 9-10). If you’re still here we’d LOVE to meet up with you maybe at Granville Island if it’s convenient for you…? 😊
GREAT video and look at Vancouver. I live half the year in Vancouver and my boat is at the Vancouver Yacht Club. Mooring on our docks is unavailable but False Creek is ok. It’s beautiful and safe at Granville Island and you can walk almost anywhere in Vancouver safely except a few blocks in the east side. Unlike the US city I live in that dangerous almost all the time with a horrendous crime rate. These few negative comments about Vancouver are typically from jealous wankers who can’t live your lifestyle. Well done, cheers…
If you want an great restaurant at Granville island we love Sandbar we tried to eat there a couple of weeks ago when we went to an art show but stayed at the Granville island hotel(boutique hotel) and conveniently eat at their restaurant “dockside”. Eat fresh oysters and salad(white salad) was extremely good, the wine helped.
Hi guys, we are avid followers. We live in greater Vancouver in an area called Steveston, that was rated the top neighborhood in Van. It’s located on the SW corner of Richmond (Lulu Island) directly south of Van. Steveston has a lovely long public dock where u can stop for the day and peruse the local hi lights. We’d love to buy u lunch on ur way thru.
Granville Island Market is a great place for arts and food, probably the best food court in town. 😊 Unfortunately right adjacent to the downtown core, called the East Side has the poorest district in Canada where poverty, crime and drugs are present. An area that has those kind of problems close to an area of wealth and affluence is going to cause problems, so its recommended to not venture into the East Side for it really is dangerous, I have lived in Vancouver for over 60 years. 😟
I lived in both Victoria and Vancouver. When I lived in Vancouver for 3 years in 1956 57 &58 The folks in Vancouver called Victoria Wrinkle City because there were lots of elderly people there!CHEERS from HERE!
I was born there 68 yrs ago - Victoria: the home of the newly wed and nearly dead. Young and Old....because everyone has to leave town to make a living (outside of tourism).
I was lucky in that I was able to work in Victoria.I was a baker at the Princess Mary rest.vessel.and at Norringtons bakery. My dad worked for the CPR on the ferries,I moved to Sooke in 1981.Victoria is definately tourist oriented.
One good suggestion is to Join the YMCA as your membership is accepted anywhere in the U.S. and Canada if you need to take hot showers or have a workout.
We’ve always went to Coal Harbor when visiting Vancouver. What are your thoughts on Coal Harbor versus False Creek? Where will you go next time, if you have a choice? I know Coal Harbor is a bit spendy….. Thanks for the great vids, and see you on the water again, soon!
2nd that. Typically people just say they are going to “Granville Island”, rather than Granville Island Market (or Public Market) , as there’s way more than the market to take in down there. There may be a “Granville Market” somewhere along Granville Street, but Granville Island isn’t on it. No biggy though! Glad you enjoyed yourselves and Thanks for coming up, eh!
It's a good thing Elizabeth had already talked to an Aquabus Captain and knew most of the answers! It was a pleasure to meet you both. Capt. Cam

Proud that I can say that I have been to Vancouver. Didn't know too much about it before my visit, but it's a really cool city indeed.

Great narration.
English Bay Beach in the summer for the 4 day fireworks world championships oh yea!! Now THAT would be great on a boat!!
ABSOLUTELY! Those fireworks competitions are a sight to see!

Wow, that’s very interesting to hear. We might have to look into that…wonder how easy it would be for a US Citizen 🤔🤔🤔

Well done. FYI, the cheapest dock space in the lower mainland is in Point Roberts, just south of the line.

Great video. You captured so many areas of the city. And your shots are excellent.

Hey from Ocean isle beach nc... great videos
So tasteful those Canucks. But I could not do the condo lifestyle.
You could if you couldn't afford $2M for a house.
Nor can most Canadians. The HOA fees alone are enough to put one off.
Nor could I those Condos start at 2 million bucks.
Nice. Great video.
While you're in the area, check out Howe Sound and Squamish, where Free Willie was filmed.
They are long gone. They shoot these videos weeks before posting them.

Were all those drone videos over the city legal?
Was wondering thar myself! Drone flying is highly regulated and rarely permitted here in the Lower Mainland.
