This is perfect for a retired couple. They have sold their boat and still love the water. They now have a runabout boat. And perfect home for a couple with no kids
Many possibilities possible. If home prices keep going up and rents keep climbing it might be a good alternative. Definitely would be a Louisiana bayou upgrade, especially with a gator proof entry gate.
I absolutely love the variety you two continue to share. I could see myself living in something like this. The only thing I can say I haven’t seen you tour, and you may have I can’t say I’ve seen all your videos, are the enormous house boats you’ll find out there. Our family recently took a vacation on Lake Havasu on an 85’ house boat it had anything and everything you could possibly want. It was basically a 6000 square foot floating house.
Yacht tours, then house tours, then houseboat tours. It seems a natural progression. Thanks for showing a very reasonably priced option for life on the water.
Those adjustable exterior side rails are clever. The customization possibilities are limitless ! A putting green, grill and loungers would work well on that rooftop.
Love these little houseboats. Perfect for couples. I live in Lake Eildon, Victoria, Australia. It is the home of the largest inland boating club in Australia. You should check it out. The houseboats max out at 60ft and some are 3 stories high.
Love your channel! I have spent a few weeks living on a 3 cabin houseboat my family used to own on the Murray River in Australia. My uncle and friends once relocated it down river from Mildura to Tailem Bend which is 1000 miles by river but only 170 miles in a straight line. It took well over a week. It was very comfortable to live on board. When sleeping I hardly noticed any movement. On the other hand the steering took some getting used to as there was a long lag between turning the wheel and when the boat started to turn so you had to anticipate your next move and make it early. There are multiple locks as you cruise down the river which take some time to get through. There are a whole range of houseboats types on the river from mansions on water, luxury cruisers to basic floating boxes. You should check them out on your next visit down under.
Add the houseboat to your Merch Store! I thought this would be boring but no it was great. The comparison was on point. I have poor spatial imagination but the model home solved that. Thanks. Rico’s suggestion of an electric motor on the bow was smart and is great advice.
A friend of mine has a similar sized house boat as a sleepover office in the big city. Works well from +30 to -20C and has one of the best waterfront locations in the city. It's usually very affordable, just make sure to find a good spot in a marina first.
The amount of space is crazy! I lived aboard a 36' sport fishing boat in Key West for a year and maybe had about 2/3 the amount of livable space. Of course, I didn't have the 'rooftop terrace' either. This is a very cool tiny home on the water!
I like the houseboat review. It's much more accessible for a lot of people. Lower cost of entry. Plenty of rivers in the middle of the continent that I can use that instead of a deep keeled sailboat.
Anchored in some nice cove of a large lake. Music, Diving board, slide, grill, jet skis kids and gram. The whole family for loads of weekend fun! I’ll swing by in that 52’ Thunder to check on them before filling up again!
I would install a queen sized murphy bed with built in closet/storage on either side of the bed. With a lounge chairs attached to the outside. When the bed is in use the lounge folds under it and when the bed is up you have a like room. Id put a window where the door is and move the door to the wall at the front of the bed to enjoy the views
Merry Christmas to my favorite captains! May you two extraordinary people always discover the wisdom to cherish today's blessings and the courage to confront tomorrow's possibilities. (A poet's way of saying "You got this, guys!") - Duke
It'd be great for wheelchair users with it being so customizable. I wouldnt get much use out of the rooftop terrace lol, but, it would be a great amenity for guests to enjoy. I really appreciate you showing us this company. Stay safe!
Yes. On the roof, a putting green. Not seen on too many yachts, anywhere in the world. For Christmas and parties on the roof, a longer table can be added. For a buffet-style setting. Or, a folding ping pong table. It has an airy feel to it. And, it would be a popular rental, looking like a house on water. Stairs on the outside. Instead of the middle of the boat. Making more space for the lower floor. And definitely, get a bow- thruster. For turning, and moving the houseboat more easily. Wow! What a great stabilizing system, at the dock. -Mike
It’s nice you reviewed a houseboat. Decade’s ago they were really popular and you use to see them at boat shows then they just disappeared for some reason and it’s difficult to find local builders. They are still very popular in Europe lots of cool designs overseas.
In Australia we are having a housing crisis. The price of buying and renting has gone through the roof. These houseboats would sell like hotcakes here although I don't know what mooring fee charges would come with this idea. Thank you Rico and Victoria for your content this year. With all the doom and gloom in the news this year it is great to watch you guys just... enjoy yourselves. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas. Ho, ho, ho etc.
I lived aboard my yacht for a few years. Living aboard is mostly discouraged in Australian rivers and inlets. In some areas houseboat dwellers are constantly under threat of complaints from locals and tourists. People need to be sure there are permanent berths or anchorages for these houseboats.
Another quality tour from Victoria and Rico!!! You see other boat "tours" when brokers are trying to show yachts that are only 8-10 minutes long. How the heck can you sell a boat if you just rush through it? Want to know how to do a proper tour? Just watch Nauti Styles yacht (& houseboat) tours-that's a real gold standard.
My dad had a 44 foot, 12 wide houseboat with twin v-8 engines. It had two double beds in the cuddy cabin and a double bed in back. Also a couch with a pull out bed in the main room up front over the cuddy cabin. Engine controls in the main room, and a flybridge !
I'm actually impressed . At first sight I thought someone had just put pontoons under a shipping container but after Rico talked about the all aluminum components and the over size width it is definitely a custom build. I assume they have some sort of a sacrificial anode or other type of galvanic protection. and definitely would want to keep it on calm water when moving . But it is a really great concept that I can see promise in the concept and design.
I have had a few houseboat holidays on The Broadwater in Queensland (a huge estuary system). It was so laid back and relaxing ... fishing, crabbing ... change of scenery every day. The Coomera River (where Riveira is based) is part of the system. I could definitely live on a houseboat full time.
Very interesting and well done concept. Really like your idea of using it as an extra space for a waterfront home. You two clearly had a great time doing this video, and it was a lot of fun to watch.
For the upstairs terrace I would totally go with an inflatable jacuzzi and bar setup as well as chaise loungers and a great sound system. Set up a partial triangular sunshade with corner mounted aluminum tall poles and string up lights everywhere. Cheers from south Florida. 👍🌴🌴🌴🌴
With that type of dock mooring if the top structure would support the weight of a small inflatable hot tub would be cool but would not want the weight up top if underway but it's not really meant as a boat just a floating home that gives you the ability to move up or down the canal
Interesting idea. Very affordable dockside living. Getting underway....maybe not. That's a huge sail area for that single little engine. The docking rail system is great. I have seen that before. Beats the sun eating up lines. Like the large open space, and not feeling like a shipping container Overall neat solution to water side living. Without a huge upkeep cost. Lots of space to grill, chill, drink, read and enjoy the view 😊😊😊😊 No engine room tour 😂😂😂😂😂 Proper stairs...Victoria ❤
You guys are great! Haven’t watched your channel for a year so missing your content…love your comments, as they’re so helpful and your idioms and very funny!❤❤❤
I love it…. Could be a plan-B for a retired couple… We can’t take it to the Bahamas so not for us, but might be a great rental unit to bring in some income. 😊
It is allways fascinating what the Nauty and Boat Business is possible to make. Because of that it would be interesting to show also Houseboats once or twice a Year on your Channel, but i think your Main Theme should stay on the real Boats and Yachts. When you mentioned the Man Cave Idea for the House- boat, i thought what about a "floating" Home Cinema or Music Studio. I wish you both and your Family a wonderful and relaxing Christmas/Happy Holidays and all the Best.
Can you also put canopies at the top to cover when it's 🔥 hot! And like a bar like style with a fridge , ice maker, and stools with a counters, with speakers in the front center and back! An dance the night away@
You live in California but it seems that you are not aware of the many boating opportunities beyond Marina Del Rey, Newport, San Diego. There are many California lakes that provide houseboat recreation. By that I mean that the houseboats are boats, not floating houses. Tahoe, Shasta, Havesu, the Delta, dozens of foothill lakes operated by the USACE...
I'm picturing myself pulling that thing out of that slip with that 20 mph crosswind. And with a 35 hp outboard. It would render itself completely useless after a few hours. Then for sale.
Fun tours. I wonder if the roof could handle a Jacuzzi? Obviously I would put table and chairs to eat on the roof. And a lounger. How much to plug in there or rent that space. I love it as a second home that you rent out on AirBNB.

I don't play golf, but I would have to use the rooftop terrace as a putting green (after putting in some sort of fiddle or fence to retain the balls and keep them from going off the side).
This is very very interesting. Minimalistic, affordable, customizable, this is a winner in many ways. Great video!
thank you so much

It truly was PERFECT for anyone's life path 🙌💙⚓️
Totally agree 👍🏻
Yep
These would be beautiful in New Orleans
Also ; in European homes like these they have basements.😊
I'd put a backup camera on the boat, and yes a trolling motor on the front, Great idea 😊
Great idea!!
Right?! Totally

Hats , stripes. SMILES Etc. She is the whole ball of wax

They're great, especially when compared to those horrible houseboats.

Those adjustable exterior side rails are clever. The customization possibilities are limitless ! A putting green, grill and loungers would work well on that rooftop.
Couldn't agree more!
If you are going to put a putting green on a boat, you may as well go all the way and put a pool table in too.
Great idea ! All that would be needed is a canopy and some side screens for covering. And there would still be ample space left. Very doable.
A driving range too. FOUR!!!

they make biodegradable golf balls as well, seen it on the superyachts

I could see myself having one of these as a getaway condo on the water. It's cheaper than any beachfront condo I've ever seen.
