    Every month we bring you at least one Affordable Liveaboard Yacht Tour. Today we are on board of rare Italian Build Beauty - 2001 VZ 56 FLY Motor Yacht. She has a LOT of volume for her size (actually as we chatted with the lovely owners she has an LOA of 65', but her paperwork says 56' 🙈🤷‍♀️... so it will be advantageous in many ways). Some of my personal fav features include a spacious cockpit, huge flybridge, a great home office option, dual helm, fab Owner's cabin and it even had amazing crew quarters! And Rico loved the engine room as well. This Motoryacht would make a perfect Liveaboard or a Condo on the water for the lucky new owners! So, if CanNOT afford to buy a house in MIAMI? You Can Live aboard this!
    She is currently listed for sale for $385,000. Enjoy the Tour!
    😜 Let me know what you guys think of this one in the comments
    From the start, we have decided to keep our independence & integrity, so we do not accept payments for Yacht Tours and do not "work for hire", this way we can choose and only Tour the vessels we find interesting for our audience. We are here to have FUN while checking out the coolest Yachts on the market and not taking ourselves too seriously!

    Be warned people. As a long time captain and owner of a 42' classic yacht I can tell you with confidence that yachts are not floating efficiency apartments, especially if you are on the saltwater. Stuff wears out and breaks just sitting there. It is a harsh environment with a ton more DAILY maintenance than a home. Personally, I love yacht ownership even though I keep it at a dock in back of the house. But I know how much work they are and I know that as you get older you might not be so keen on doing everything it takes to keep your yacht running properly, if at all. And remember, if rough weather hits then it is a whole 'nother level. You have to be an active captain on a yacht or it will eat you alive. So doing it because you think it is the low cost solution might not be good advice. But doing it because you love being on the water and are willing, knowledgeable enough and physically capable to do more maintenance then yeah, why not?

    • @jeffconley819
      @jeffconley819 8 месяцев назад +32

      You spoke to my EXACT THOUGHTS.
      I for sure could afford this vessel. But I’ve got a few ailments like a bad back and several bad disks in my neck. I worked in heavy industrial as a career directing and planning maintenance for a refinery . Those onboard systems are not to bad to work with “ for a healthy individual “.
      Unless the owner can do the work him/herself maintenance will be very high.
      I hate paying people to do things I can do but I find I am doing this more and more😢.
      What a great layout and superb use of space.

      Adding the cost of yearly maintenance, monthly hull cleaning, higher boat insurance in FL, monthly utilities, and slip fees, you can probably afford payments on a 1M condo. And that’s not factoring in any fuel costs.

    • @Burevestnik9M730
      @Burevestnik9M730 9 месяцев назад +14

      According to many experts I consulted with, the average yearly maintenance fees, over the span of 10 years, are ~10% of the value. For this yacht, it comes to $38,500 each year, for repair this, repair that. This does not include insurance, utilities, fuel. This means over $3000 each and every month. Add $1000 for utilities, insurance and fuel. For the family of 4 preparing food on yacht, probably min. $3000. The monthly total, over the span of 10 years and in today's dollars, to really live on this yacht: $4000 + $3000 = $7000. Good luck to any retiree capable of plunging that much monthly. In contrast, monthly maintenance fees for a 1500sf condo are $1000. Total for condo living: $1000 + $3000 = $4000.

    As a retired high speed production machine service/install tech, I especially get a kick out of Rico's excitement at discovering an ancillary equipment room with sound insulation. He even commented upon the service cavity for all the electronics; right down to it being an illuminated space. I also noticed the three forward heads shared plumbing walls. Brother, those folks looked after this boat! Scrub the boarding bridge/ dinghy hoist walking surface and you'd be forgiven for thinking this was a new boat. Great tour guys!

    Probably one of the best I've ever seen of that type of yacht. Really well maintained. If it were mine, I think I'd rip up every piece of that teak and replace it with faux-teak, just to keep the maintenance down and appearance up. I don't want to think about how much that would cost, but it'd probably be worth it. Update the electronics and redo the exterior upholstery, and she'd be practically new again. I was really surprised how nice that interior was. Her owners must have run that AC all the time to ensure it stayed nice. Of course, you'd have to down here in Florida with this ridiculous heat and humidity. I didn't see a range on the spec sheet, but 1000 gallons of fuel would probably get you a fair distance, particularly if you keep the RPMs down.
    Thanks for the walk-through of this one. She's a beauty.

    Nice one. People even could convert one of those cabins, if they needed an office space on their sailing home, and if that being the one with a pullman berth, you could do it in a way, so guests could still sleep in it occasionally. I love that warm shiny cherry wood from that period. Modern boats are often so cold in the interior design.

    These are my favorite boat tours. This is a yacht I could really buy if I sold my house, and I would have enough money left over to do some upgrades. This is a yacht an experienced boater can manage easily with minimal help, a huge plus. It's comfortable, fast, well laid out for 6 people to live on, easy to dock in a crowded marina, you can fish off the swim platform, what's not to like? Plus it has that sleek Italian vibe if that's your thing. Great tour as usual, you two work so well together. Thanks! 😃

    Nice presentation. Love the old style analog gauges and simple controls, although needs newer electronics,radar, AIS and newer chart plotter. Would be a great vessel for runs to the islands at 21 knots. Engine room is perfect!

    Pretty sweet boat, and a great video! If I were to own a boat like this one, I think I'd likely use the crew quarters as overflow for guests as you suggest. From what I see in this video, I don't think I'd have any trouble taking care of and piloting this boat by myself, so I wouldn't see myself needing a crew. I think this one would be a really good candidate for a liveaboard, too.

    All I can say is WOW ! The sleeping space in a 56’ boat was amazing ! The owner’s cabin was just big enough to move around comfortably and not bump into each other . The only thing is it is a bit dated , but for the price point it can be freshened up . With the amount of fuel that you posted 4x250 a couple or family could cruise for quite a while ! Thank You . Is it in Florida ?

    As a Bay Area native and a teacher the real estate market has made it essentially impossible to buy a house but there are many boats and even some floating homes in my hometown I’ve considered eventually living room. A boat like this would be great, definitely more storage than my current apartment and I could turn one of the spare bedrooms into a music room.

  • @DoomfarerCDN
    @DoomfarerCDN 9 месяцев назад +3

    For the price, that is a really nice boat! The style and woodwork are beautiful, the state rooms are realllllyyy nice. The extra space they give aft of the engine room and in the lazerette are total selling points. The engine room looks "Yoga free" and pretty comfy to work in.
    The galley is small, but damn i like it! With the door for access and ventilation while cooking, like you suggested, a dishwasher would be a good bonus to fit. The refrigerator is nice and big, the only thing I'd personally miss is an oven shoe horned in somewhere.
    The visibility from the Fly is great, it'd be perfect for whale watching off the coast up here in the Pacific northwest. 👍

      I assumed there was an oven under the cooktop but might have missed that. Would the circuits support an electric oven if there is none?

    • @DoomfarerCDN
      @DoomfarerCDN 9 месяцев назад

      I don't thinks with this comapny the circuits would be an issue, I think it's what you'd have to trade off to make space for an oven in there. There was a microwave, now if that was a convection oven combo it'd be workable for me. Though i do prefer single purpose devices over combos, more to go wrong with those.@@arribaficationwineho32

    YES, I could live aboard this yacht. Not really a big fan of European design, but this was actually well done. What really sold me was the walk-in, stand-up engine room. Looked like a nice yacht harbor, where is it ?

    Thanks Guys, for sharing this tour of this beautiful boat and everything else you do for us..
    This boat is exactly the size and style that one person would need to live aboard.
    If I were ready, I would jump on this deal directly. But, I've got a few more things to clear up first. Then, I'll be looking for a 50 to 60 footer Sedan Bridge style boat.
    Good luck and God Bless

    I kept looking at the details of the wood, fasteners, joinery and the condition of the exterior trim, walls and floors. Also the cleanness of the engines, generators, tanks etc. That has to be one of, if not the cleanest well taken care of boats for its age I've ever seen! With a few upgrades (control/coms/navigation) I would guess it was a lot newer! Very well done layout making use of space! I'm a "wood" person also, so that is amazing! 4.8 of 5.0!! LOL Thanks guys!! 8) --gary

    Lovely vessel for an owner/operator.
    It would be helpful to know the process to purchase a live-aboard and the attending fees and costs annually to
    determine whether to pursue it and not waste the brokers time.
