This is evidence that they will go down as one of the best bands in history.
It’s not just Patton - they all sound fantastic
Na it’s pretty much just Patton, and a touch Bordin. The rest... meh
@@grant5603 Fuck you... man, i know, Patton it's a beast, and in my opinion, the best singer of the earth, but the slap of Gould and Bordin... Wow!
@@gugul9961 Don't forget Roddy Bottum, the man's a solid keyboardist (and one of the founding members)
Billy Gould no??
The guitarrist is pretty meh is not as tight as jim
That bass tone is to die for. A big part of their sound. Not a single note overplayed or out of place.
Mike Patton, the man who has a vocal style for every mood and genre. This guy is what a Swiss Army Knife wishes it could be, the perfect tool in one package for every occasion.
Corey Glover...just saying..
I've seen him do gigs in a few languages as well. He's a beast
@@2cv666 he's just a cult of personality
@@denisdonn mmm..no ..is much more than one song ,that man its flawless performance
Jim No More...
His voice is still fuckin amaizing.
He was and is still the best singer since Peter Hammill
it only gets better!!!
And Billy...........never has someone played such simple music, yet been so amazing at it.
Mike Bordin is still a monster behind the kit. Legends never age.
I'm impressed by his age and his energy. See him breathe heavily end of last song.
He has always beat the shit out off his drums
@christopher weise it's pretty nice for sure. I wonder how often he changes those heads
One of my absolute favourite drummers. I couldn’t agree more with your comment!
David Nissim I think his power comes from his dreads
The greatest vocalist of all time, and one of the greatest bands of all time.
Even in his 50s Mike Patton blows my mind. To this day nobody can sing like this guy and has nowhere close to the same range
Agree friend
Between every song, they are like "hopefully we can get this one right," and then proceed to fucking nail it. What a tight band.
2:19 Superhero
8:12 Sunny Side Up
11:54 This Guy's In Love With You
16:18 Separation Anxiety
When do they play Epic?

Love the timestamps although I always catch myself watching this from the start right till the ending.
That's one of the best drummers on the planet right there. I rarely hear anybody talk about him, except other drummers.
Absolutely this. He is brilliant in a totally understated way. Those Tom flops he hits are totally unique.
I can’t get over how he doesn’t hit the Tom Tom rims... he sets them up so flat and high! He is a beast... precise, great groove, and impressive tone.
It's cool that the drummer has his floor toms mounted, up high in front of his face. He likes the thicker, phat sounding drums.
Exactly!! That is so cool that you noticed that too. His floor toms are mounted in his face, flat and up high. That is different than Im use to seeing and playing with other bands. Faith No More is still awesome to this day!! Seems like they didn't sell out like Metallica!
True. I saw him when they opened on tour for G n R. Knew right away that he was a tour de force behind the kit. Still is. Awesome.
I've always loved this bands belief that bass guitar is an instrument and needs to be heard.
all bands believe the bass is an instrument.
Mike Bordin is such a sick drummer. Everyone in this band has aged like fucking wine both musically and as people. I am in awe....
Never fear growing old, you just get better with age.
I am just confused wth the position of his tom toms
@@lunatico981 He stated in an interview that he places them almost vertical because he plays rimshot on his toms and wants that click of the rim. It's probably a contributing factor to why he breaks so many sticks.
Billy Gould is a monster Bass player and goes largely unnoticed for some reason?
Well said! I'm learning bass and wish I could emulate his tone. BUT... FNM as a group goes largely unnoticed for some reason, so it stands to reason that the same would hold true for the individuals. Probably the most talented and diverse band of all time. My favorite.
If there was not Billy, there would be No Faith No More. Hardest kept secret... The best bass players do not outshine the rest of the band. To do so would invite global destruction. Instead, they direct the Earth shaking, and the rest must dance to the tune.
Well notice him then. Check Kool Arrow Records on FB. He just might talk to ya. He did me. Very nice fellow.
Not unnoticed by me bud. Fucking love the growl he gets out of four strings with as much treble as he can possibly squeeze from the axe he uses! If in a choice between being able to be a millionaire, play bass like Gould or like Flea, I would just take Billy's technique over Flea, cos the latter is slightly too showey.
I've been playing Bass for over 25yrs. Billy, Flea, Bach, Les and Cliff are standout Bass Musicians, were my first inspirations and taught me what I know. However, as much as I'm Bass biased, I think FNM, like Living Colour are one of those rare bands where every band member pays an equal and non opposing part. Phenomenal.
Billy Gould’s bass sounds are something else entirely.
7 on the Richter scale
I love his bass, it makes them special!
He is my hero!
Unbelievable man!
Faith No More is one of a handful of bands comprised entirely of virtuoso musicians. All five of them are absolutely mind-blowing at what they do.
It's not necessary to be a virtuoso to write great music. It just makes the experience more enjoyable to the ears.
*Damn his voice is even better now*
I love your username
I know right!! Been a fan for 20 odd yrs, and with most singers, their voice seems to become weaker with age and Patton's is fucking better lol
Some things get better with age.
Damn, nazis are even more guillotinable now.
No drugs or alcohol for Mr Patton
Mike's voice is better than ever
Agreed! Time has actually improved his voice.
I would LOVE to hear him re- do his vocals on The Real Thing. I cannot stand the vocals on that album.
@@daufhinthorndike1061 The nasal vocals worked with a few songs on that album, but not on all of them for sure.
Yeah, in fairness, a long life of clean living seems to be way to go if yer gonna play rock n roll in yer 50's.
Puffy. Just a beast.
The only band that can rip your face off and then do a Bacharach cover and sew your face back on. Also, Mike Bordin kicks ass on the highest level. Mike Patton? Unreal.
Well said!!👍
The rhythm section of Billy Gould and Mike Bordin is phenomenal, absolutely the driving force of this band. If FNM ends up recording another album, they should seriously consider recording it live at BBC, these versions of the songs sound amazing, much better than the album IMO.
Agree!
The Album unfortunately has a poor recording. Not to compare with the genius recording of King For A Day…
Agreed, 1000%! I like that the keyboard is “turned down” on this version of Superhero. On the album version, it gets quite tedious REALLY quickly, repeating that piano “riff” over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...
These dudes in their 50s would wipe the fucking floor with 99% of the musicians of current metal, hard rock, punk etc musicians out there.
EXACTLY!
they could also wipe their asses with this or that😀
Patton is absolutely, totally, utterly, perfectly, entirely, wholly, fully great singer .
autotune uses Patton for voice adjustment
Oh now that's good!
...so true...
Best comment I've EVER seen 💜
! That's some funny shit right there !
Hahaha
And this young kiddies, is how you do it
And you are how old?
Mike Borden is simply an amazing human being. I was working in the VIP lounge for a hotel in Little Rock, AR in 1999. Korn had a show in town, were staying at the hotel and took over the lounge for a few hours. Although I was and am a huge Korn fan, I didn't really interact with any of the band unless they engaged me first out of professionalism. I ended up striking up a 30 minute conversation with a short skinny guy with dreads that I didn't really recognize, but got along with really well. When I went to bill the tab to his room, the top of the check said M. Borden. About 15 seconds after I handed him his check, the light came on and I said 'Holy shit, you're Mike Borden! Why are you here with Korn!?' I went into fan mode a little and we just talked about the state of FNM for another 20 minutes. He was genuinely one of the nicest people I've met famous or otherwise. For me Angel Dust was their crowning achievement. They have so many great songs and albums, but that album is pretty close to perfect start to finish.
Great story, btw most of the people say Mike Borden but is not written Mike Bordin? I've always thought it's Mike Bordin
@@juanjr4mirez Bordin not Borden
Mike Borden actually filled in for Korn on tour when Dave silveria hurt his wrist
Angel Dust is a brilliant record that continues to hold up over 3 decades. I was working in a record shop (Yes, actual one) when that album dropped and I still cycle that record in my playlist in my mid 50's.
Wow, amazing story! ❤
I don't think I've ever been so impressed by a filmed live performance
Christopher Martin check oot band “toe” dem have pert special live set, super epic 🎹👁😍❤️💛💚🎼
Watch them live in brixton then in early 90s. gig on youtube. One of the best rock concerts ever
These were the first band I ever saw live. Pretty huge benchmark to set for every other gig I want to.
agreed
Gould's bass on Separation Anxiety is foking awesomeeeeee ughhh. Can't get enoughhhhh.
I think age has humbled Mike Patton. he's older now, but he's still delicious!
Sloot
You're disgusting
No one can blame her. Back then, Patton was cabaple of bending the straights.
@@fv6125 Dont be a pussy
Agreed! I think he's more attractive now because he's more confident and authentic and has nothing to prove. Sure, he may no longer have those chiselled features, but he now makes up for that amply by being completely adorable. Still got that cheekiness. And, the important thing here: his voice has only gotten better and better. Who doesn't love a sexy voice?
The old guys still have it!... and they don’t look like they’re trying to “be” young. Aging gracefully 👍🏽... Dear god is it me, or has he gotten better vocally? I’m beside myself.
No he's gotten even better
Yes they are
Lol beside yourself...haha. SAME! I thought so too
On this performance. However I’m afraid that over the last year or so it’s finally caught him. What is it? Time
Patton has aged like a fine wine. He doesn't need to be his 90's self anymore because his voice has matured nicely
This band is all about courage. Courage to break the mold. Courage to believe in their genius. Courage to call it quits. Courage to come together again. Thank you FNM!!!
Well said
Yes!
Amen to that 👍
💜🤘
And also courage to do the kind of music they always wanted and never got under the rules of the industry. FNM rules!
Can't believe this was 5 years ago!! Time flies, I miss these guys!!!
Puffy was, is, and will always be a BEAST. Insane.

Patton is the most well-rounded vocalist of many generations and generations to come. Hands f'n down.
That bass tone is sublime
Just one of the many reasons why I have been addicted to these boys. Never one's to go for album sales and just go out and explore musical corners each and every album. For me, they sound eternally fresh, Angel Dust just sounds new every time I play it, can't say that for so many bands and also the biggest draw; they are epic live. A beautiful, dirty, filthy joy to listen to and see.
Simon Hamblett Can't agree more. Although I find it hard to go through "Album Of The Year" in whole (still first seven tracks are killers!) and "Sol Invictus" is really hard to like after few runs (it just needs time to get it) - Faith No More are, and always were - No.1 band. Absolutely most creative conglomerate of great musicians regardless the fact I do not love every single song they've created. But most of them. ;)
+MrKredski Start listening rock bands that compose songs with complex patterns (Mastodon, The Mars Volta) and you'll realize Sol Invictus isn't hard to like after just two or three runs.
+Simon Hamblett i always hear new sounds on angel dust every time i play it depending on what i play it on or what i listen to to it through eg: different sound systems/players etc.. ipod, headphones, studio monitors, speakers etc..
its a very layered album with all kinds of things going on underneath all the chaos and beauty.
♥
+William Lima Surely I know'em. But it's not about complexity. They (the songs) are like... not really, not fully FNM, you know what I mean?
All legends and their music has bridged generationa
Yes, Yes, Yes! I discovered Faith No More in 1990 and I been a colossal fan ever since! Brilliant artists!
This is REAL TALENT! they were my first concert at 15 i'm now 43.
Same here! :)
How lucky.....
You are blessed....
I'm 42 and that's my bucket list...loved then since 6th grade

In all fairness, cheap or not, autotune is not as easy to utilize as one would assume.
MIke Patton has one of the most unique and powerful voices out there. They dared to mix up so many different genre's of music with their style and they kicked some serious ass while doing it! I'm happy to see they playing again.
AK FOX agreed all the way. He could sing anything I think and crush. I’d like to hear him sing the lead in Phantom. Seriously. That third song sold it. Haha
Only Mike Patton can pull this off. Such versatile singer and incredible range
+Gerd Pranoto Don't forget the other guys. They are all spectacular musicians. :)

they are a well oiled machine :D
Mike Patton is the main reason they can do genres like jazz. He’s such a flexible singer if you check out his other 5 or so projects.

I think Corey Glover, and Russell Allen could pull it off
That bass tone. Killer.

When an "old" band sounds better than 95% of music in the charts IMHO!
what is that other 5%?
@@zeitok8 good bands
subjective. im from the 90's , but im 100% against older generations like my own Gen Xers - pissing about how much better their shit was than the new shit. Musical tastes change. They evolve and mutate and add upon, and sometimes its for the better, and in some instances its for the worse. But proclaiming that an older generation's musical group is better than anything else putmout these days is entirely a matter of opinion, NOT A FACT, and like i said SUBJECTIVE. You come off like a "high-horse sitting" ... holier than thou garbage person, when you start running your mouth about how much better your generation's shit was than the new generation's shit. Figure it out. It aint hard. We need to encourage our youth, prop em up, and not lambast them for having different tastes than ours. 95% of the music thats on the charts these days, is directly related to, and inspired by our fucking music, so now whats that all about? cmon man, be better. be best.
that’s usually how it is 🤷♀️ as corny as it sounds im sometimes annoyed im a teenager in this generation rather than when these kinda bands were in their prime
Hellyeah!!!!
Faith No More are really underrated. One of the influential band from the 90's.
ILU 666 how underrated? What more do you need?
Underrated? They're the BEST band from the 90s. No question.
Matthew Andrews you kidding?? You must be...
Lol how are they underrated? You guys must be living under a rock ;)
Not so much underrated as slightly under the radar - in comparison to some of their contemporaries.
Also, it is only comparatively recently they have been feted as hugely important.
Album wise everything after The Real Thing pretty much bombed in the US - especially compared to RHCP and the Seattle grunge stuff and most of the mainstream metal too.
Huge in the UK. :D
a lifetime of using that voice to its limits and he's still the king of technique.. i can't even handle it
His voice is perfect.
Scrolling through the comments at 4am, can't sleep. but damn this girl's in love with FNM
Lol I thought I was the only one doing that 😁
Their versatility still amazes me after all these years. Mike Patton is an amazing vocalist.
Mike Patton can still belt it out

Wow, time has just made them better!
'angel dust' is a brilliant album !
yes but no album is not brillant, i heard a lot of music this band is just magic, just midlife crisis is one of best song iv'e never hear
It doesn't get the credit it deserves. It stands up today and is just as important as Nevermind, 10, Badmotorfinger, Siamese Dream, etc. It is my favorite FNM album too. So powerful, so creative!
Voted the most influential metal record on two occasions. 😋♥️😋
Personally my all time favorite album, and i also agree that Midlife Crisis is (in my opinion) the best song on it. Which says alot because i love that entire album
All the albums are great. It's a super band. Everything they touch is gold, everything they play is music!!!
This is the best fucking session of all sessions in the history of the fucking world. The energy is insane.
They all play for the music, no show offs, no gimmicks. Great music!
You've got to admire a drummer who attacks the drums like it's a work-out.
I don't think there are too many drummers whose sound is so instantly recognizable as Mike Bordin's.
jon really makes this album his own, great sounds
Love these guys since 30 years.
It's amazing how Mike's voice is barely affected by time!!
I still don't understand how he can yell between verses and not blow out his voice. Only to switch into melodic singing a second later. I would be coughing my lungs out. Incredible control.
The crazy part to is that he claims he doesn't warm up or even think about his technique.@@SirMo

Can we talk about that cover of “This Guy’s In Love With You”
Holy sheep shit!
They've aged like the best wine in this world.
Wow- drummer is a standout
And so he should be...Mike Bordin.
Bordin is a machine. Was sad to see him gasping for air and huffing an oxygen mask at Red Rocks on this last tour - after every song. He still brought it, even under those conditions.
With Red Rocks at over a mile above sea level. Anything more than a brisk walk can take the wind out of you if you're not acclimated to the thinner air. Not a shocker that he might need oxygen.
"Take it from our drumner Puff, being good it gets you stuff"
@@StudioMontaneZone you play like him in high altitude and you'd be huffing ether just to pass out and make it stop

This is the most legit rock music ever.
One of the Greatest Live bands of all time. One of THE tightest rhythm sections in the history of Rock music without a doubt. Then throw Mike Patton on top and you have *chef's kiss*
You said it, this is a band led by its rhythm section for sure.
I don't know why but I was so surprised by Mike's speaking voice. It's so 'clean'. He's an amazing vocalist, it's mental what he can do with his voice.

They sound so good, and just as relevant now as they were three decades ago. Color me impressed.
I've always loved that a "metal" (for lack of a better word) band like Faith No More clearly have a love and passion for the classics like Bacharach, they have a depth of knowledge of music that has served them well.
Patton is amazing. His Tibetan type chanting on superhero is amazing
Faith No More just keeps getting better and better through time.
I got diagnosed with a serious Angel Dust album addiction by doctors in the nineties. Took years to cure. Never healed completely, it keeps recurring.

I really have no words for Mike Patton. His voice on the 3rd song is like silk!
Faith No More is the most important rock band in my life, purchased an album in 4th grade (1990), and have listened religiously ever since. If you are unfamiliar with Mike Pattons other projects (mr bungle, Tomahawk, e.t.c. ) you need to check them out. Anything he, or any of these men touch musically is pure gold.
Such a legendary band
I WAS gonna sell my bass, after this not anymore. Gould is god, such a great bass player

And tasteful. No overplaying. Just exactly what the song needs.
Just realized he is now their longest serving guitarist, 14 years in the band.
Dude is a professional, he always plays flawlessly. Nothing more, nothing less.
Man you worshipping other dudes is a mental illness
He seems to use no pick quite a bit in this? I'll have to check out some more live clips to further investigate. GREAT sound!
