subjective. im from the 90's , but im 100% against older generations like my own Gen Xers - pissing about how much better their shit was than the new shit. Musical tastes change. They evolve and mutate and add upon, and sometimes its for the better, and in some instances its for the worse. But proclaiming that an older generation's musical group is better than anything else putmout these days is entirely a matter of opinion, NOT A FACT, and like i said SUBJECTIVE. You come off like a "high-horse sitting" ... holier than thou garbage person, when you start running your mouth about how much better your generation's shit was than the new generation's shit. Figure it out. It aint hard. We need to encourage our youth, prop em up, and not lambast them for having different tastes than ours. 95% of the music thats on the charts these days, is directly related to, and inspired by our fucking music, so now whats that all about? cmon man, be better. be best.
that’s usually how it is 🤷♀️ as corny as it sounds im sometimes annoyed im a teenager in this generation rather than when these kinda bands were in their prime
MIke Patton has one of the most unique and powerful voices out there. They dared to mix up so many different genre's of music with their style and they kicked some serious ass while doing it! I'm happy to see they playing again.
AK FOX agreed all the way. He could sing anything I think and crush. I’d like to hear him sing the lead in Phantom. Seriously. That third song sold it. Haha
Such incredible musicians! So much passion and innovation. I had goosebumps the entire time. Musicians of today should take a good look at Faith No More because that's how it's done.
I keep coming back to this session at least twice a year ever since it came out because I absolutely love the mixing and production here. It's better than the production on Sol Invictus, by far. The drums and bass sound so deliciously crisp, it's a joy to listen to. I hope this will be released as an EP one day, so we can actually have a studio recording of that Burt Bacharach cover.
Bordin is a machine. Was sad to see him gasping for air and huffing an oxygen mask at Red Rocks on this last tour - after every song. He still brought it, even under those conditions.
With Red Rocks at over a mile above sea level. Anything more than a brisk walk can take the wind out of you if you're not acclimated to the thinner air. Not a shocker that he might need oxygen.
You've got to admire a drummer who attacks the drums like it's a work-out. I don't think there are too many drummers whose sound is so instantly recognizable as Mike Bordin's.
Next album, Faith No More just needs to come into this studio and record the damn thing here. The bit of live rawness adds so much character that modern digital recordings lack.
bstar777777 I agree. Other bands should do that as well. Radiohead’s The King of Limbs would’ve been a MUCH better album if it was just that Live at the Basement version too.
Agreed. Great band in a great old studio run by properly talented sound engineers. Maida Vale Studios has a long history of bands absolutely killing it. The Beatles, Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Hendrix (among many others) have all recorded stunning sessions there. Check this blog from some musician who was lucky enough to record there recently: bit.ly/2PYC4vB Lucky SoaB.
I'm someone who never listened to faith no more until about 5 days ago.. Ever since I've been watching loads of their concerts and I am amazed I never focused on them until now. ! Powerful music!
I've always loved that a "metal" (for lack of a better word) band like Faith No More clearly have a love and passion for the classics like Bacharach, they have a depth of knowledge of music that has served them well.
Seperation anxiety is a powerful track. Can't believe that after so many years away they can still create and play with this type of energy. Here's to many more years of quality records.
This band started to grow on me with age. I didn't really understand the mindset behind them, but after years of listening to jazz, funk, punk rock and whatnot, I really started to dig their really diverse style of playing. Awesome band! They deserve a lot more attention.
What's crazy is to read the comments and see so many people fawning over faith no more, as by their 3rd album with Patton, King for a Day, they had slipped into obscurity, it was hard to find fellow Faith no More fans when they were still in their heyday. They always had a cult following, but today they are loved by the mainstream. In other words, there are a lot of people like you whom it took going back to listen to them 10 or 20 years for them to realize how great they always have been and still are
I fear this is a band that will be lost by many modern listeners. Back in the day I'd spend my hard-earned money on a record or CD and give it the numerous, focused listens required for me to wrap my head around complicated music. With the internet and youtube, if it doesn't grab you with the first listen, what incentive is there to listen a second time?
I still don't understand how he can yell between verses and not blow out his voice. Only to switch into melodic singing a second later. I would be coughing my lungs out. Incredible control.
I don't know why but I was so surprised by Mike's speaking voice. It's so 'clean'. He's an amazing vocalist, it's mental what he can do with his voice.
Faith No More is the most important rock band in my life, purchased an album in 4th grade (1990), and have listened religiously ever since. If you are unfamiliar with Mike Pattons other projects (mr bungle, Tomahawk, e.t.c. ) you need to check them out. Anything he, or any of these men touch musically is pure gold.
+tenti1524 Damn straight. Mike is a God and there's no denying that, but Billy is one of the most unique bass players out there, with a fantastic tone and a sense of exploration and originality that often gets overlooked. As for Puffy, anyone who can hit a rack tom that high up automatically wins, not to mention the way he adapts a left-handed playing style onto a right handed kit set up, legend!
Cynthia Jones Hands down, shit, hands up too, my favorite drummer. There'd be no FNM without Bordin. If I could listen to just the isolated drum tracks looped, all day, I would.
Patton arranges most of the music. Those guys are great but Mike has TONS of acclaimed side projects. He is the driving creative force without a doubt.
Track 1 - Superhero 02:17 Track 2 - Sunny Side Up 08:12 Track 3 - This Guy's In Love With You (by Burt Bacharach) 11:54 Track 4 - Seperation Anxiety 16:17
Faith No More performing a Burt Bacharach song is surely one of the musical highlights of this year. They look quite happy and content playing that sort of music. An album of "lounge" type ballads from these guys would be a fucking treat. Bring it on. Always wanted to hear Patton sing "raindrops keep falling on my head"

subjective. im from the 90's , but im 100% against older generations like my own Gen Xers - pissing about how much better their shit was than the new shit.
Hellyeah!!!!
Best voice of the last 40 years.
Mike Patton can still belt it out
Motherfackr sure knows how to take care of them vocal cords.
I think he sounds as good and better in some ways.
a lifetime of using that voice to its limits and he's still the king of technique.. i can't even handle it
There are no words to describe the talent of this band! Most underrated band of all time! They should be studied in music schools world over!
That bass tone. Killer.
This is the most legit rock music ever.
+Glen Goncalves I concur!
+Glen Goncalves
agreed
That voice just gets better and better
Damn, Mike is such a versatile force.
Yup
Can't get enough of Puff
This is what happens when you master playing your instruments.
Mike and the boys doing it right 🤘🤘
Yup
Puff and co. are amazing
The production is mind blowing, love every single bit of this.
They freaking changed my life. I used to play all their albums back to back to back to back
Same
+JT STAR Yup!!! agreed! Bad Ass...
+JT STAR The same. I dont trust anybody who doesn like FNM.
+JT STAR Used to?? tutu :P
+JT STAR I still do !!
This is one of the best videos ever uploaded to RUclips. Great music
Scrolling through the comments at 4am, can't sleep. but damn this girl's in love with FNM
Lol I thought I was the only one doing that 😁
I keep coming back to this session at least twice a year ever since it came out because I absolutely love the mixing and production here. It's better than the production on Sol Invictus, by far. The drums and bass sound so deliciously crisp, it's a joy to listen to.
I hope this will be released as an EP one day, so we can actually have a studio recording of that Burt Bacharach cover.
agreed. it's stunning.
i do the same... Always blows me away, like no other... what a centre of tallented artists!!!
I play the session daily in my FNM rotation. After all these years I still can't get enough, of anything they've ever done
I remember seeing EPIC on MTV when I was 15 or so. Patton still blows me away.
me too
I felt sorry for the fish 😁
RedShoulderReviews Me too but I was 9.
RedShoulderReviews I was about 11 maybe 12.
Me 2 . i am from 74, remember waiting untill it came around again , mike with his strange voice bowing me away,
damn i am getting old :)
Holy crap how am I only seeing this now??!
3 weeks less crappy than me :P
michael dique Haha we got there eventually, all that counts
have you seen the Panic at the disco one.. they can damn play too
Wilfred balmores Not my cuppa tea at all
I just found this
Wow- drummer is a standout
And so he should be...Mike Bordin.
"Take it from our drumner Puff, being good it gets you stuff"
@@StudioMontaneZone you play like him in high altitude and you'd be huffing ether just to pass out and make it stop
Wow, time has just made them better!
You've got to admire a drummer who attacks the drums like it's a work-out.
I don't think there are too many drummers whose sound is so instantly recognizable as Mike Bordin's.
Mike has such a great voice. I think that him and Freddie Mercury are the all time best...holy shit. Thank you guys
It does sound incredible
Totally agree! Amazing sound and energy.
bstar777777
Ur right!! I watch this all the time, and it would a PERFECTLY recorded album.
Oh wow that Burt Bacharach studio version is amazing.
That was unexpected and awesome.
Sorry. But no. I adore this band but this songs groove is terrible.
your mom is terrible
They have been playing that since like 97 live.
The talent is overflowing here. Just unreal.
I'm someone who never listened to faith no more until about 5 days ago..
Ever since I've been watching loads of their concerts and I am amazed I never focused on them until now. ! Powerful music!
Welcome
I've always loved that a "metal" (for lack of a better word) band like Faith No More clearly have a love and passion for the classics like Bacharach, they have a depth of knowledge of music that has served them well.
Their versatility still amazes me after all these years. Mike Patton is an amazing vocalist.
These dudes in their 50s would wipe the fucking floor with 99% of the musicians of current metal, hard rock, punk etc musicians out there.
EXACTLY!
they could also wipe their asses with this or that😀
I cant believe Patons voice .. Its better than ever!!
They still have young fans. My 15 year old daughter is into them and Mr. Bungle for the creativity and talent.
Im one of them as well
Album Of The Year. One of the most incredible albums I’ve ever listened to obsessively.
Brilliant! Drums sound huge!
+Maurice Timbers Yup...Puffy's always in form.
+blown22 true .
Bordin is the man
One of the great rock drummers. Always on point live
Mike Bordin!! We are not worthy!
I absolutely love this band.
I came for my idol Mike Patton. Really great musicians. Bravo!
Faith No More just keeps getting better and better through time.
Seperation anxiety is a powerful track. Can't believe that after so many years away they can still create and play with this type of energy. Here's to many more years of quality records.
PERSON BEHIND THIS ACTUAL AUDIO MIX OF THEIR PERFROMANCE IS ABSOLUTELY ON THE LEVEL - SHE/HE GIVES SO MUCH JUSTICE FOR THE GROOVE 💙💚💛💜
absolutely on point Mika!!!
It's BBC Maida Vale in England - the venue is legendary amongst musicians and sound engineers.
He
Would love to hear Pattons isolated vocals from this!
Right, it doesnt sound live it sounds like its mixed on an album.
They all play for the music, no show offs, no gimmicks. Great music!
They've aged like the best wine in this world.
Well sead. A band for musicians
His voice is perfect.
It's amazing how Mike's voice is barely affected by time!!
I still don't understand how he can yell between verses and not blow out his voice. Only to switch into melodic singing a second later. I would be coughing my lungs out. Incredible control.
The crazy part to is that he claims he doesn't warm up or even think about his technique.@@SirMo
jon really makes this album his own, great sounds
Bordin is such a faithful servant to this band. So precise. So energetic. So professional. Kudos to Mikey!
I don't know why but I was so surprised by Mike's speaking voice. It's so 'clean'. He's an amazing vocalist, it's mental what he can do with his voice.
I WAS gonna sell my bass, after this not anymore. Gould is god, such a great bass player
Faith No More is to the 1990's is what Steely Dan was to the 1970's. Ground-breaking, innovative and evolving. Top musicians and world class.
Mick Patton was my hall pass & I finally get to see faith no more this coming May here in Australia! Can’t wait! 💕🤘🏼🥰🤘🏼💕
Melissa Love i know right, me too! I’m so excited to see them live 🔥
I’m guessing they didn’t make it...
Nah
It's OK they'll still come. Surely. I have tickets and waitingggg
One of THE BEST VOCALISTS EVER!
Everyone goes on and on about the genius of patton , but come on , gould and bordin are two of the main reasons faith no more are so excellent live
+Thinchap
Puff is the beast on the Toms and so overlooked, in fact they all are overlooked
Cynthia Jones Hands down, shit, hands up too, my favorite drummer. There'd be no FNM without Bordin. If I could listen to just the isolated drum tracks looped, all day, I would.
Its definitely a whole package thing.
Patton arranges most of the music. Those guys are great but Mike has TONS of acclaimed side projects. He is the driving creative force without a doubt.
Track 1 - Superhero 02:17
Track 2 - Sunny Side Up 08:12
Track 3 - This Guy's In Love With You (by Burt Bacharach) 11:54
Track 4 - Seperation Anxiety 16:17
I mean, they pretty much told us each song they were doing. Also put it on the screen...
@@BAND-MAID-USA miseryarse
anthony defabees The point is so people can click on a time and go directly to the tune.
All the S Songs except Sol? I wish the whole album was recorded.
Podia ir para a descrição
Faith No More performing a Burt Bacharach song is surely one of the musical highlights of this year. They look quite happy and content playing that sort of music. An album of "lounge" type ballads from these guys would be a fucking treat. Bring it on. Always wanted to hear Patton sing "raindrops keep falling on my head"
Maybe you should have a listen to this: ruclips.net/video/CbyRp4CX5_0/видео.html
thats the instrumental album , ruclips.net/video/cKiXYveusc0/видео.html
I always knew the heavy rap metal faith no more....listened to the real thing album so much and still do...not a much heavier metal band that sounds come through so clear and THICK. Then I heard this jazzy classy club music from them and was like WOW all over again!
That moment you have shit to do but realize it's Faith No More live in studio and can't stop watching...20 mins of life well spent.
There is no word for this band. Just the sensory proud and eternity loyalty of their fans
This band is very unique and yes they open the door to alternative music bcoz is the most classic alternative band in the industry))
(( they show us for the very early times what is music in many different way. Introduce is to Different type of music
Is not just a rock band .. is more than that
