The difference between Skeledirge and Typhlosion is that yes they share the same type, but are completely different in gameplay style. One is a fast sweeper, the other is bulkier and can play a defensive role while still buffing itself with Torch Song. Same types but completely different styles and I like it.

Honestly, since all 18 types have representation, and with the exp share, let’s go and exp candies around, I personally found it quite easy to invest in multiple Pokémon at the same time. I think I had like 10 “main” Pokémon as a result.

@@johnnyhall4335 Skeledirge has base 75 Attack and 66 speed. You’ll basically be using Flame Charge for the speed boost and nothing else as base 75 Attack is awful especially without any EV investment, not to mention Flame Charge has only 50 power. 66 speed is also below average. It’s not crippling slow but it’s just that you’re effectively wasting one turn to boost Skeledirge’s speed to an acceptable level that would still get outspeed by typically fast Pokémon.

There are plenty of great options in this game for variety than just these mons, but overall, pretty great choices. My only request is that if there are some other best teams rolling around in the future, try including Pawmot in one of them, since Pawmo alone is great, and theres a neat trick for getting Pawmo to 1000 steps pretty easily, and Pawmot is quite strong. And let’s not forget Clodsire with Water Absorb. But anyway, thank you for a great video Mystic. I hope that you can experiment with some more variety in the near future too.

It’s got a great typing of Electric-Fighting and combined with the fact that it can learn all of the elemental punches via TM crafting as well as using Close Combat would make it into a very capable Pokémon on many teams throughout the story.

Tinkaton tip: you can run Protect as your 4th move, to let you safely spam Gigaton Hammer - using those two moves interchangably works, and only thing you might need to watch out for is Taunt.
Overall, team seems to be on the slower side, with big ghost weakness. An option would be to swap Gardevoir for Farigiraf - brings Ghost immunity, doesn't drop any coverage, matches slow bulky theme, can run Tick Room to enable rest of the team if needed, and offers similar coverage (minus Energy Ball). Outside that - solid team, my fire starter team went in a bit different direction with Skeledirge/Kilowattrel/Tauros-water fast core and Cetitan/Farigiraf/Clodsire for bulky mode, so far works well - just still feels weaker than hyperoffense team built around Meowscarada/Pawmot/Palafin for easy repositioning.

I feel the part that's more weird about using Gardevoir is not only that we have 2 fairy types but also the fact that Espartha exists. It's faster and it has great coverage for the trade off being frailer. This is made up for the fact that Espartha's signature move reduces sp def by 2 stages.
Another problem I have with the team is that the highest speed stat on the team is 94 from Tinkaton. While this is a more of a problem I have, I do feel like having fast Pokémon like Kilowattrel and Cyclizar would help a ton.
An alternative team I have which works really well is Skeledirge, Kilowattrel, Toedscruel, Glimmora, Aqua Breed Tauros and Dudunsparce. While I haven't researched as extensively, I like that it has a balance of speed between Tauros and Kilowattrel and bulk with Dudunsparce and Toedscruel who can also support with paralysis and sleep respectively. Glimmora I feel can be substituted by Revaroom or Tinkaton but I love it's ability and just how much damage it can output. It acts as a support with that incredible ability or laying toxic spikes for free along with being the hardest hitter on the team naturally. A fitting Pokémon as the champion's ace. This wasn't the team I used on my actual play through though so all of this is just theory but it is something I'm trying in my replay.
Also just realised that Aqua Breed is Violet Exclusive so something as an alternative was swapping Aqua Breed for Espathra and Glimmora for Revavroom. Espathra is faster actually and its signature move along with great coverage make it a great option. Revavroom's typing is great and replaces Glimmora as the poison type due to losing a physical attacker in Tauros. Shift Gear is an amazing move as well and coupled with dual stab and any coverage should start sweeping instantly. For water type replacements you could go with Palafin from this gen or returning Pokémon like Barraskewda but I prefer using current generation Pokémon and Palafin while great can only be evolved in multiplayer. If you can get it it's amazing, if not, these suffice

Honestly, the quartet of of Flamigo, Meowscarada, Cetitan, and Clodsire can take care of nearly the entire game. Just add an Armorouge or Ceruledge for fire coverage, and any decent eletric type (My suggestion is Pawmot, but any decent electric mon will do). There's very few pokemon in the entire game that can't be handled by one of the first 4. Only ones I see are Cavell's Gyarados and Poppy's team. The rest can all most likely be be OHKO'd by the main 4, with the exception of Iono's Mismagius, which is fairly easy to brute force.

My team was Skeledirge, Pawmot, Toedscruel, Tinkaton, Grafaiai, and Mabosstiff, and everything was going fine until I hit that damn Quaquaval, it solo wiped my team twice with that Aqua Step boosting its speed and its coverage moves like Ice Spinner taking out my Toedscruel.

Since your starter will be Tera Fire throughout the playthrough, you might want something that can bait Fighting attacks only to have them whiff, especially since it will now take neutral Ghost damage even when Terastallized. Plus, it has the Egg Move of Curse, an amazing move for Garganacl in general but BROKEN when you need an all-or-nothing victory when Terastallizing.

I spent a lot of time crafting a team using only Paldean Pokémon, and many of them are pretty good, save Oinkilone or Tarountula, but the one I think that could pick over Annihlape would be Pawmot, since Pawmi is really easy to get, and there are plenty of moves you can teach it too to deal with its early game move issues, and there’s a neat staying on top of Pokémon Centers trick that comes in really handy for getting Pawmo to 1000 steps. It’s pretty easy to find on the internet, and Pawmot’s quite strong, especially utilizing the Loaded Dice to help with Arm Thrust or Low Sweep, since I got 3 TMs of that in my game already, and let’s not forget when it gets close combat. • @ShiningJudgment666
      @ShiningJudgment666 Год назад +1

Larvesta doesn't evolve until pretty late and it's not great until then. Dreepy is in a similar boat as it doesn't become Dragapult until Level 60. Houndoom is alright since you can get it very early though its level up set leaves a bit to be desired. Same with Scovillain. Scovillain also scores Flamethrower upon evolving which is amazing for how early you can get it. The combination of Volt Absorb Wattrel/Kilowattrel and Cyclizar makes Iono sort of free since you can just pivot through her Mismagius with the former being immune to Charge Beam and Cyclizar immune to Hex on top of resisting Charge Beam and outspeeding Mismagius so you can chip away at it until it goes down.

    - Meowscarada (Outspeeds most pokemon and typically always 1 shots. Has the earliest access to a finished moveset where it can be completed before your first gym. Having a Grass, Dark, Fighting and Flying move allows Meowscarada to sweep through more important fights than the other 2 starters. Skeledirge is a close second.)
    - Talonflame (Fire types are super helpful in this game and while I would say it's the best fire type in SV its flying typing helps against many pokemon that this teams fairy type can't handle. If you have Scarlet you can replace Talonflame with Armorogue as it fills the role better, though this team is meant to be friendly for both games. Ceruledge also works due to being immune to normal and fighting, but is harder to get access to early than Armorogue in Scarlet and Talonflame in general.)
    - Pawmot (Fighting types are probably the most important type in this generation in terms of main story gameplay and having a fighting type with natural coverage to Flying is very helpful. It also has pretty good move pool for coverage in general and can be fully evolved very early into gameplay.)
    - Clodsire (One of the best ground types in SV, good movepool, counters majority of the major fights, immune to water with the right ability and is a very effective counter to fairy. Terastylisation also can remove its weakness to ground if needed.)
    - Tinkaton (Immune to poison and dragon, perfect for handling most fighting, fairy and dark types. It also has Gigaton Hammer which will almost always one shot anything that isn't resistant to Steel.)
    - Baxcalibur (This one was a free slot, but having the psedu legendary of SV seemed like a good backup Pokemon. Insanely high attack and good speed. This thing will sweep anything, and is nice to have a dragon type that will kill most dragons better than Tinkaton. This could be replace with another Ice Type like Froslass or Cetitan if wanted.)

Had a Skeledirge with the exact same move set with my playthrough of scarlet before viewing this video, what a happy coincidence. Super effective or normal damage to every major battle. Even swept Geeta with just Skeledirge. earth power is early access too.

My team is actually very similar to this one. I just used the cat as the starter and didn't know which water to pick. Do you think Gardevior with Mystical Fire instead of energy ball would be a good fit for the coverage to replace the gator with the cat?

I like running drain punch on annihilape because I get a pretty good stab move, tank a couple hits, and then heal back enough damage where I can now use rage fist as a super strong stab ghost move.

4 of my moms I used in my play through were on here. Made me happy seeing that lol. I always use the pseudo legendary in my play throughs. I also had a Kingambit

That moment when you sweep arvens whole team with just anihalape. Not even using ice punch, just close combat and acrobatics goes to show a lot of move sets that mystic uses doesn’t need to be exactly the same

The original team that i planned to use before starting my Violet playthrough was Skeledirge, Ampharos, Sawsbuck, Garganacl, Bombirdier and Tatsugiri, with Paldean Tauros serving as a placeholder since Tatsugiri isnt found until fairly late in the game.
But once i started playing, my plans didnt last long:
    - In my very first tera raid, i caught a Dark tera type Azurill with Huge Power. Once i fully evolved it, and learnt Aqua Tail and Play Rough, this deceptively cute looking pikachu clone became a monstruous killing machine, even managing to outlevel Skeledirge. So, needless to say, it disqualifies Tatsugiri since there is no way i ever replace Azumarill.
    - I found a wild terastalized Naclstack which i caught since it was way better than my still unevolved Nacli. However, it was level 33 and it wouldnt obey me with 2 badges, so i went for Iono - but in the way, i caught a Gible which immediately evolved into Gabite, and at that point it was way more useful for Iono than the poor Nacli. Therefore, Garganacl is also disqualified.
    - Ampharos fell back quite a bit during the middle of the playthrough, because of its poor level up movepool. So i replaced it with a Magnezone, evolved from a Magnemite that i caught on my way to the ghost gym.
    - Going for the psychic gym, i caught a Shelgon, and i liked the idea of having Salamence in my team. But i needed a replacement for Gabite's ground type so i hold it on the box for a bit.
    - Once i defeated Iron Treads, i came back and caught it. Ampharos came back replacing Magnezone, Iron Treads replaced Gabite and Shelgon replaced Bombirdier.
    - Once Shelgon evolved, my team is now complete: Skeledirge, Azumarill, Ampharos, Sawsbuck, Salamence and Iron Treads. Way less gen 9 representation than what i originally wanted, but i really like it.

Other than Gastrodon I think Clawitzer is a good choise to use on the team
It has 120 base Sp.Atk and Mega Launcher ability
Water Pulse attack increases to 90! + 20% chance of confusing the target
Dark Pulse base of 120 !! + 20% chance of causing the target to flinch
Aura Sphere 120 base, doesn't miss
    this is sick bro

As far as Tinkaton's moveset goes, I have Rock Slide over Brutal Swing for Fire coverage

    Gave my Sleledirge
    Torch Song
    Shadow Ball
    Energy ball for coverage
    And overheat
Super useful during Terra raids. By using two torch songs to boost its special attack then a powerful overheat. I'm back at square one and can repeat the process
