It’s not official circuit, but nobody should forget that Wolfe predicted his opponent would use trick room to take down his trick room so he used trick room taking down his own trick room, and making it so his opponent would take set up a fresh trick room for him For everyone interested, it’s in his video for the random tournament at around the 54 minute mark. I recommend watching the full video for context though.
This is why I wish Pokemon was bigger as an eSports, it's not taken seriously by a lot of people but the highest level players are so skilled and fun to watch because they can find a way out of seemingly impossible situations
Too much of those "noteworth" plays occur only in the player's head. There isn't something in-game to tell it's a good move except when they win. Doesn't help out how centralized the META can be, the sheer amount of time involved nor the fact that an enourmous part of your community simply doesn't care about competitive.
@@martyrking2288 i guess it's the combo of choice item + trapping that makes it particularly evil, since normally you force a switch but this just forces them to disable their own TR lol
@@martyrking2288 number 1 was probably super planned. He lead with Goldenghoul and brought Gothitelle in the back basically check mating his opponent from the pokemon selection. Honestly, that Gothitelle might be there with mainly that purpose in the team (counter trick room and maybe perish song), making it a plan he had from team building. That's pretty impressive imo. Normaly tricking Indeedee only forces a switch, having a team that can auto win a match up without losing that bad to the other ones is insane. Baek's is probably more out of the box like you said, but it didn't win the game by itself and neither was that well planned, it was mostly improvisation.
@@myhairhasamindofitsowncould you imagine the chaos if we ever got a game with z moves, Megas, dyna/gigantamax, AND terastalization?! Obviously there'd have to be some hard limits, like only one of the last 3 per match, but imagine how wild the meta would be for the first few weeks as everyone frantically tried to psych out their opponents
I love it whenever attacking your partner is the right play to win the game. It doesn't happen very often, but the fact that its still an option and is very rarely the right play just adds another option to pokemon that only the truly best trainers would ever think of.
MARKUS #1 LET'S GOOOO! Very well deserved, I remember that Trick Gholdhengo play so well, it was pure genius and pretty much locked in the match turn one. It's also kinda crazy how many of these plays came out of NAIC, just goes to show how insane the competition and skill ceiling was for this final tournament before Worlds. The editing here was so clean too, those transitions were smoother than a polished Voltorb! Keep up the great work Wolfey and team
This was my first season competing (went to Charlotte and NAIC), and I had a ton of fun battling and spectating. Getting to see some of these plays live was a highlight of my year.
I met you on Sunday briefly at NAIC (my first irl Pokemon event) and you were so kind and welcoming!! Was so exciting to check off so many boxes as a first-timer, seeing you included! I had such a great time at the event that I didn't even get to tell you that you were a huge reason I got into VGC in the first place!! I've learned so much from your matches and videos and I just can't overstate how much of an asset you are to this community. Thanks for another great video and all you do Wolfey!!
The way u explain, the content u create and also the way ur videos are amazing for me. After a couple of years that I tried ur content, I wondered if u kept on that and the surprise was amazing. Fr, I love how ur content has evolved and even though I don't know so much about competitive (and nothing about new generations) u somehow make me want to click on another video. Gj! U r for real so good on this and all this videos are gold for people wondering about this world!!
The SportsCenter that I never knew I needed. As a casual fan of competitive Pokemon who doesn’t have the necessary patience to be a spectator but who LIVES for these type of omega brain moments, I would be thrilled to see you make more of these for past generations and formats
The reads these guys make are insane. But I want to see top 10 misplays. Completely blowing a read and a game on turn 1. Because I'd probably end up in one since I'm not great.

when i saw the thumbnail i predicted the play to be like, trick Choice Specs onto Iron Bundle and have Iron Bundle nuke something and i right with the exception of a protect turn in the middle of it
Love seeing all the amazing plays that people do! It is very inspirational and is so great to watch! Hope more of these highlight videos of them are made! 😄
There is an incredible play that I figured out first you want to lead with Scovillan and kingambit then us spicy extract on the kingambit with the Scovillan and kingambit with the ability defiant which will raise it attack to +4
Would love it if you created a playlist to keep the stream vods up in instead of privating them, or streaming them to bonuswolfe and keeping them up ^^
I really enjoyed this video concept. It would be cool to see this for other generations and perhaps a yearly (or every time teh ruleset changes) series.
My favorite moments from playing competitive TCGs has always been the squad retelling their best/worst plays in the car on the way back home This makes me miss those days so much
AWESOME VIDEO. I hope you do more expert reporting like this! My favorite play was either the #1 (Trick Trick Room...), James's sick burns, or the Fake Out + baby Pala into Flutter read. Shouts out to the editor as well.

I went into this video thinking “Wolfey is gonna give himself the #2 spot and think ‘Wow I’m so humble by not giving myself the #1’” but instead he just threw himself into the honorable mention 🤣. Great video sir 🫡
Thank you so much for the explanations and my jaw absolutely fricking dropped at the number 1 play like HOW HOW TF DID MARKUS DO THAT -- THAT'S JUST PURE EVIL BUT SO FRICKING GOOD
Great video idea, and you did a great job of providing context for each of these plays in a very short time. For future iterations of this video, you could consider adding snippets of the commentators' hype reactions as these plays were happening so that we get a better sense of just how big-brain these plays were.

I love how Ludwig wins that match and then when he explains his strategy he calls it "Terrorizing"

When a game has this big of RNG involved it can never be big and shouldn't be rightly so

Heavy RNG and a wider community that's very hostile towards the competitive side hurt it plus it's not on pc and it takes a while time to make a team
