EDIT (11/18/2024): The G2724D is currently discounted $149 before tax For me, the dell g2724d is currently $185 using the promo MONITORS15 which honestly for the /Safe Budget Option/ seems like a no-brainer. Only concern is the fact no retail store carries the monitor and you have to gamble on getting a good panel.
Tested both monitors side by side. My g2724d didnt have specs sticker on the side although it was an unopened box. I guess this might prove the comments on reddit and under some yt videos that Dell has different panels because in the unboxing videos that ı watched ı saw that specs sticker. Mine was manufactured in 03 or 04 2024. Despite the datasheet, Asus has whiter whites and more black blacks. I set both units to regular, user, default whatever you call it and set them to full brightness and contrast and tested using an android app. Asus is brighter. Colors look more vivid and you can even saturate more with the slider on the software. I sent my Dell back and waiting for the refund. In Turkiye, Asus is about 10 percent more expensive and for that budget range it is worth paying that. Before these I tested 2 units of MSI 274 qrf qd e2. First unit had 5 stucks pixels and the second had 3 stuck pixels and when I set the second unit to HDR mode I had a quite remarkable yellow tint. I wasnt on the side of picking an Asus in the beginning but ended with that 😊 I am quite happy with it. The only thing with that is that its plastic is not black but dark grey/anthracite.

The main difference between these 2 monitors is the Dell matte coating is actually acceptable the ASUS on the other hand is unusable and I returned mine because it has a very nasty harsh smudgy matte coating from 2003, it's extremely bad on any white image or bright image it has a horrible haze and dirty screen effect. A glossy would be the best option but even light matte coatings now are pretty good and acceptable but what this ASUS has is just atrocious .
Is the matte finish the same on all the non-oled ROG monitors? I mean, no one ever talks about the WCS, ACG, ACMG, WCMS and hypothetically they all use the same coating but there is no way to know for sure without buying-trying-returning all of them. Genuinely kind of dumbfounding that you aren't allowed to look at a product before buying it, even if its in-person purchase. Wtf is this industry? EDIT: based on the rtings review, the pg279qm has a less aggressive finish. It visibly diffuses less light in the reflections photo.
@@brandonbahret5632 I bought he 32WCMS it has the best matte coating it is almost as good as a glossy it is the best matte coating I have ever seen. I don't think anything will ever give the perfect image quality of a glossy screen but the 32WCMS Rog Strix is by far the single best lightest possible matte coating that exist.

That's right, I have returned one and I want to return another, same model , same problem. I have decided to avoid this model. I don't know why people don't talk about it. I bought this model just because of the good reviews everywhere. I placed an order for the same model curved but with a VA panel. We will see a difference. Also , I have in my hands the LG 27GS75QX - B , which looks much better than the GX27ACS.
I had a Dell S2721DGF that failed because nvidia's "drivers" in Linux on the GTX 760 overdrove it (flickered, HARD image retention, and 2 days later after having it off for 5 hours to eliminate the image retention, it blacked out with the power on still). I replaced it with the ASUS ROG Strix XG27ACS. It's quite a bit better out of the box set to sRGB.
Its sad that dell costs the same as the asus in EU and other 3th world countries. I was opting for the dell but since costing the same 300$, i got the XG27 instead which i **quickly regretted due to the 2 stuck pixels and both shop and asus refusing to replace it**. My friend also bought this monitor and also come across multiple stuck pixels.. Besides those mildly annoying problems, it really is a great monitor. Bought in turkey.

Bought Asus XG27ACS and deeply regret getting it. Worst antiglare coating ive ever seen in a monitor of any type. The coating makes screen look so grainy its hurts to look at. Comparing to my older monitor asus pg279qe with matte coating also but it does look way better than this monitor even after 5+ years. XG27ACS has better specs on paper but in gaming/browsing it feels downgrade.
Rtings need to either stop lying or get someone competent to review these monitors, you say the text clarity is the same on both monitor? I call rubbish, I returned my ASUS because the harsh smudgy matte coating on the ASUS creates a haze over text on white background making it practically unusable. I bought this monitor because of Rtings recommendation I should have looked at the macro pixel shot more closely to see how horrible the matte coating is. One of the big problems we have with monitors is sites like rtings giving it better score the less reflection it should be the opposite because the better and clearer the reflection the cleaner the picture text and lighter the matte coating. I agree with this guy, maybe my comment will be helpful to someone. I returned this monitor today due to its terrible picture quality. All images had glare. At my workplace, we use a cheap , basic monitor with an IPS panel , and that monitor doesn't have any problems. I read many good reviews about this monitor, and I have never seen such terrible picture quality. I believe it 's just a bad batch.

FYI the Dell G2724D also have USB-C to DisplayPort cable in the box too!

What about the aw2724dm? It’s $240 rn on Amazon compared to Asus at $270. Both 180hz but all I care about is response times since I’m on ps5
