Got my monitors during COVID, 1080p 240hz, keeping them for a few more years, I can't wait for the day I grace my eyes with a crazy sub OLED $500 monitor.

Opted for the OLED and it truly is amazing. Just wish I could have waited until the prices went down some more.
@@anirudhmathur5555 It purely depends on what they/you do with the PC. For example for my day to day usage I will 100% burn in an OLED, and I did in around 4 to 5 months of usage. I got the replacement and got myself a 3rd monitor for my day to day use. My second is a discord monitor so I don't work on that at all. I pretty much only game on my QD OLED at this point and only games that run in 21:9. Burn in is real, its still an issue and its still something that doesn't take a lot of time in the grand scheme of things. Especially seeing as its cumulative. That said, it shouldn't scare you away from getting one as they are honestly amazing. Seriously you cant go back at all when you go OLED/QD-OLED, gaming/movies have never looked this good. And if it is your main primary monitor there's a few things you can do to slow it down/prevent certain burn in situations. Most come with warranty as well so you are covered if you do burn it in. But seeing as I am an outlier I think most people will be fine with an OLED for a few years.
@anirudhmathur5555 Not really. There are a ton of features to prevent burn in. That being said, it does depend on your use case and on how long you expect to have the display. If you are expecting it to last 10 years with no burn in, that might be unrealistic. But 5 years, I think, is perfectly reasonable if you are doing something that has a static image with max brightness. And with how quickly tech is advancing, you'll probably be looking to upgrade 5 years down the road.
@LordZareth There are no features to prevent burn in... it's inevitable. All the features do is attempt to slow the process down. That said yh it purely depends on what the person plans to do.
Seven and a half years ago, I ordered a 27" QHD 144hz IPS display for about $1K CDN even after taxes (and it was on sale then, I think it was about $150 off), now we can get OLEDs with better specs for about the same price (it's a bit shy of $1K CDN before taxes at full price, so with a bit of a sale it'll be the same). Incremental improvements year by year do add up after a while.
Should always be the case, if what you have does the job don't upgrade until its worth the price for the upgrade. If everyone acted that way manufacturer's will be in a rush to make prices lower
Literally nobody (besides the people selling the products) are telling you to upgrade right now. Use what you have until it's unusable (or find a use for it when you want an upgrade), and then upgrade when you're ready. Personally, I plan on getting a new monitor in a year or two, but I'm really hoping that QDEL takes off sometime in the near future, as that should be even cheaper than any OLED, but buying a single monitor before that isn't going to be the end of the world, especially since I'll be waiting for QDEL to drop in price before getting one.
I bought my first Oled monitor 2 months ago, the Samsung Odyssey G6 and so far I'm loving this monitor. I got it on sale for about $741, I wouldn't say $750 MSRP is an insane price drop since most Oled monitors have been more affordable when on sale but It is nice to see the standard MSRP drop regardless.
Went from a Nano IPS LG monitor to this one, and it was straight out night and day difference in regards to colors, contrast, and sharpness. Had it for about a month now and I`m really happy with it!
The dual mode on 32 inch 4k 240 hz monitors is truly the wild deal, you shift back to 27 inch with complete black bezels around at 1440p 480 hz for competitive gaming.
Got a MiniLED 1440p 180Hz DisplayHDR 1000 monitor last week for $250. It's great, and way better than the monitor I had before. I hope after another 5+ years OLEDs will be cheap enough to justify the purchase.
The AOC OLED hit $400 with similar specs to the Asus the video is about. There is a chance an OLED by AOC could be cheaper next year to match your AOC min LED if you do dual monitor set up.
Actually using this monitor right now, got it a few months back and it's hands down the best purchase I've ever made for gaming. coming from an IPS monitor that's160hz to a 240hz OLED.. just wow
I just got an ad for BreakTheFake (essentially to fact check before sharing anything online) and it legit spoke about the house hippo advert that aired on tv from probably more than a decade ago. God I remember thinking tiny hippos were real as a kid growing up - despite the message the ad tried to convey and being too young to understand. It's fun hearing an ad reference an even older ad.
I’m super glad OLED prices went down this year. I snagged an MSI 27” glossy QD-OLED 360Hz for $559 on Black Friday, and the 240hz version was only $500. Everyone’s right, you don’t know til you know, about the picture. The picture is amazing! It’s supposedly the same LG panel for any 27” glossy QD-OLED, so it doesn’t really matter the brand. The only thing I wish it has was a built-in KVM, but I need an external KVM to switch 3 monitors between a desktop and laptop w/ dock anyway so not a deal breaker.
none (as far as I can see... this video has me searching our NL price-picker alternative that's popular here... and the moment I click 'non-glossy' in the filters, a lot of ASUS monitors disappear under the $700 price mark :). There is one Rog Swift but it exists for some time already.
I'm proud of my monitor setup. -- My main gaming monitor is a QD-OLED because the screen content changes frequently, avoiding burn-in. My secondary screen is LED, perfect for messaging, music, and videos, since it's often static. I think it’s a pretty smart setup!
I've had the LG C1 48" OLED as my daily PC driver for almost 2 years now. I'll never buy anything else unless its OLED from now on. Theres just no comparison.
Maybe I'm missing something but why aren't monitors moving to USB-C charging? It's 120W and I am sure there are USB-C chargers that support more than that?
$559 (currently) is a very good price for an OLED esp from a name brand...not some generic company you've never heard of. Just a few years ago i bought a 27" LG ultragear 1440p 165 hz IPS for $449. If Asus Oled can be had for $559, then that's a significantly better price considering its Oled and 240hz. My only gripe would be that its not hdmi 2.1 or the newest displayport standard
I got this for $650 from microcenter back in September. It sits between my two ips panels and omg... the difference in picture is insane. Hopefully within the next few years they start getting close to that $300 sweet spot, and I'm still waiting for a 1080p OLED!
I’ve been reading the comments while watching this expecting it to be $900-$1000 and at the end he says it’s $750 down to $560. And people still think this is expensive? Everyone wants everything for free these days. $560 is nothing for that spec.
Its fair considering the cost of making an oled monitor is probably similar, if not higher. I bet the cost of the display is about the same on the monitor due to the much higher pixel density.
Wow. 4 1/2 years ago I bought a 27" 144hz 1440p IPS monitor from ASUS with excellent color accuracy, Gsync, and OK HDR that cost me $600. At the time I thought it was pricey, but I'm still rather happy with it. That being said, keeping all that in mind, this price is REALLLY decent. When it's time to finally pull the trigger on an upgrade, I'm hoping to get an OLED in the $300-400 range.
I still havent seen anyone cover the MSI MAG 321UP. IDK if it's a cutdown version of the 321UPX thats US exclusive, but getting a 32” 4K 165Hz OLED for $700 ain't too shabby.
Beware - I've never owned an OLED but I got this and I cannot use it due to terrible migraines and eyestrain.. never had this issue with any other monitor or screen. Very hard to pinpoint why but I'm assuming I'm sensitive to pwm.. but even at 100% brightness it kills me to the point where I'm nauseous for an hour after using it for 30 minutes.. Really sad as the monitor looks fantastic.
As someone who owns the same monitor Plouffe couldn't mention enough, the Alienware AW3423DW, i can say this is an amazing deal. To any who have the means but are on the fence about buying their first OLED gaming monitor, it's completely worth it. I've been so happy with my own and have had zero burn in thanks to the automatic maintenance features keeping the display healthy. Pro tip, as an added protection, be sure to have an auto sleep for your display in Windows. Not only saves power, but it will also help to prevent burn in should you leave your computer on (or if your computer randomly wakes from sleep like mine does lol).
One of the main gripes i've had with oled monitors is text clarity. If this is something that can be covered going forward with reviews that would be great since some are being purchased for use as a workstation setup involving lots of text. Thanks, Skibidi rizzler.
This was the first oled monitor where I could justify the price. I game and do photo/video work and was always stuck between high refresh rate and color accuracy. No regrets getting this monitor
As an OLED monitor owner (likely the same LG panel), the clarity is astounding! I mean you can see everything! It's like wiping the fog off of a mirror!
I got the lg c3* 42" for $699 at Micro center on sale. I coulda waited but at the time it had dropped from 1299 and I use it for more than just a monitor. Was a steal and im extremely happy as the bundled a protection plan that covers the pixels and image burn in if it happens.
You should provide more details regarding Lab results. The Racing Mode does not specify if the display was set to Wide-Gamut or sRGB color space, or the K temp of the display etc.
I saw this monitor drom from $720 to $520 and few days ago and bought one. It's for sure a step up from LED IPS for blacks but HDR is unusable cause it makes the screen so dark. Turning up the gamma was the only fix and it made random things in games too bright/highlighted. Ended up turning off HDR.
Even though it was basically just a footnote, I _LOVE_ to see OLED monitors finally going glossy. I just wish it were 4K. With the ridiculous names monitors usually get and the entirely unhelpful marketing materials, it’s hard to determine which (if any) monitors are actually 4K and truly glossy.
It's more likely that the 99% of DCI P3 coverage applies to the sibling monitor that's in Amazon. That's next to it. A little bit more expensive with the True 10 bit in its product description. The model number is PG27AQDM
small note for something that could be improved imo: often on performance graphs, you'll see "lower = better" or something to give context, but the color accuracy portion of the video doesn't give any context for people who don't know what these numbers mean. i think really anything to give context (like "lower = better") or maybe a comparison to a good display, or something very popular like an ipad pro, would be appreciated. not a make or break thing but it's a small detail! (cause there are people, like me, who do art and need color accuracy, but aren't exactly familiar with the standards or terms)
I wouldn't get a philips monitor just because of their white-text-on-blue-background logo screen that flashbombs you when you turn on their monitors. Even if the newer ones do not have that anymore it will take a while for me to forgive them for having to endure that for several years at work.
OLED will never be as cheap as LCD as the tech fundamentally costs more to build and also there is less competition- LCd is partly cheap because there is a dozen companies in China that make them at scale but OLED there is little Competition because it's more difficult to manufacture. OLED may get to $300 or less once South Korea or Japan sells its OLED making machines to China but so far no one is helping the Chinese to build their own OLED factories
120W power supply? Why not use a full-spec USB-C charger instead? Not only it could power the monitor but also serve as a general power supply to any usb-C device.
Grabbed one of the Alienware oled ultrawides used for like $400 last year and will never god back. Even used there isn't a single sign of burn in. Love it.
I have a 27" 1440p IPS monitor (a Dell U2711) that I bought in 2010 for $1,100. IPS panels of that size were *really* expensive back then. I still use it every day -- it's on my main desktop machine. It's only 60Hz, but it's not like I'm a competitive gamer, or anything. When it finally dies, I suppose I'd be in the market for something like this. Hopefully, by the time that happens, these monitors will drop below the $500 mark. Even if they're not that low yet, the current $750 regular-price isn't that bad, considering these things were $1,000 or more a year ago. If you could even get one, because OLEDs have been stuck at the 120Hz mark for a very long time now.
I can't see how good the colours and refresh rate look on my screen, but what I CAN see is the glare and reflections of the room! Will there be a non-glossy version of this 'cause that is a dealbreaker?
I feel like the title would be fine, if it was about another product. 700+? On sale for still over $550 on black Friday? Yikes. If y'all covered any of the 3 Oleds that are like $500-600 normally that went down to $329-399? Maybe the title would be more reasonable. Edit: holy shit I just realized this video is fucking sponsored by Asus. That is egregious you really went with this sort of title on a sponsored video for an OLED that's not even particularly down in price just a normal priced model on sale? Yikes.

I have the ROG OLED PG27AQDM that was released last year, and I was worried about the burn in. So far so good after almost a full year and a half. I do set the screen saver to come on after 6 minutes and screen turn off at 10 minutes. I used it for gaming only and the games I play don't really have any static images on them. Though, after I record gameplay and then transfer those 20 to 30 GB files and if I leave the data transfer window up and in one spot and then move it or minimize it - it leaves a white ghost image behind for about 30 seconds or so and then fades away. But no permanent burn in as of yet.
So in about 3-5 years I should be able to afford one. I will mark my calendar.Joking aside. It is good to see the prices coming down closer to us normals.
I paid $900 For basically the same specs just a few years ago. Yes, it's still significantly more expensive than an IPS panel, but it's a huge reduction in price in such a small amount of time.

Got my monitors during COVID, 1080p 240hz, keeping them for a few more years, I can't wait for the day I grace my eyes with a crazy sub OLED $500 monitor.
Your missed out on black friday (week), AOC had a 27" 240hz QD-Oled for $399.99
The “USB3” is actually an upstream cable.
2:57 - bro violated that stand
I was trying to hold off on buying OLED monitors but then one of my monitors took a crap so I was left with the decision to buy another 4k high refresh monitor for 700 that I would replace in a few years or bite the bullet and buy a 4K OLED monitor a little over 1k. Opted for the OLED and it truly is amazing. Just wish I could have waited until the prices went down some more.
I'm still waiting for a 4K high refresh OLED at 27"
Are you worried about burn-in?,it is one of the reasons i will not consider one for now
@@anirudhmathur5555 It purely depends on what they/you do with the PC.

There are MANY 1440p 240Hz monitors with IPS or VA panels that retail for well over $560. This is an insane value for anyone who wants to get an OLED!
Not for 27in.

Can you explain why I need HDMI 2.1? Isn't the 2.0 enough for 1440p 240hz. What's the benefit?

600€ is def too much regardless. Samsung's displays are like 1050€ for 49 inch oled panel
Its fair considering the cost of making an oled monitor is probably similar, if not higher. I bet the cost of the display is about the same on the monitor due to the much higher pixel density.
42" is way too much for most desks. Sure, you're paying a hefty monitor tax, but the LG is just not it for most people.
42 inches is way too big

You definitely don't want Pluff touching your hole. He was a bit rough while showing that pass through cable place 😂
So it's not really the monitors fault?
Hope you get well
Might be OLED VRR flicker - Did you try one of the settings to reduce it? It bothered me for the first few days but thankfully I got used to it.
As someone who owns the same monitor Plouffe couldn't mention enough, the Alienware AW3423DW, i can say this is an amazing deal. To any who have the means but are on the fence about buying their first OLED gaming monitor, it's completely worth it. Even though it was basically just a footnote, I _LOVE_ to see OLED monitors finally going glossy. I just wish it were 4K. With the ridiculous names monitors usually get and the entirely unhelpful marketing materials, it’s hard to determine which (if any) monitors are actually 4K and truly glossy.

small note for something that could be improved imo: often on performance graphs, you'll see "lower = better" or something to give context, but the color accuracy portion of the video doesn't give any context for people who don't know what these numbers mean. i think really anything to give context (like "lower = better") or maybe a comparison to a good display, or something very popular like an ipad pro, would be appreciated. not a make or break thing but it's a small detail!
