I know everyone rags on Bert and he's got that Machine gimmick now, but when i tell you i was crying listening to this album I'm not kidding. It hurt laughing so hard.
I mean, some Chinese & Japanese characters (written) are similar, but verbally and the definition is really different.
Eample of a rare case where written characters, meaning and pronounciation (almost) are similar: 可愛.
The second character is written in traditional Chinese, but would be written as 爱 in simplified Chinese.
In Chinese, it's pronounced ke ai (kuh-eye)
In Japanese, it's 可愛い (extra word:い, not found in Chinese), and pronounced as kawaii (kuh-why in English, ka-wai-ee in Japanese).
I honestly didn't know this until I was in the military. Had a guy in my platoon who was 100% Chinese, straight out of Beijing. We went to Korea for a while and whilst I we were there we heard some Korean soldiers talking and asked if he knew what they might be saying. He wasn't mad and explained that there is no common denominator between 90% of Asian dialects for the most part.

I read all the comments and I don’t understand why people are offended by this guy. I’m Latina and Italian, the things he was saying about Mexicans are so funny because it’s. My mom would just give me a look and I knew once I got home I was in trouble. And I agree with the others why are the white people offended And us the Spanish-speaking people are not. It is an honestly an awakening experience finding out that other languages have different dialects and not all of them are as distinguishable as others. I mean, most of my life I'd figured that it was just English because English is already the nightmare language for non-native speakers (so I'm told). I had to find out from SALTY FANFICTION that there's different types of Chinese.
Because Mandarin and Chinese are NOT synonymous, and it took fourteen years of life to learn that. (But thank god I know the Pythagorean theorem)
