Andy, for $3 bucks more you could have gotten the "DE-LUX KIT" , which comes with a harmonica! 🤠
Don’t forget the authentic wire coat hanger to hold the harmonica.
My Canadian version was the same except it advises me to sing a verse in French. Leonard Cohen is laughing somewhere..
This will definitely be included in the group of very informative videos on this channel along with best biscuits and prog mustache ranking.
This was hilarious, pure comedy.
More like Englishana!! "Doing stuff with cows" 😂😂😂
Cracked at "only the king can eat you" 🤣.
Get better soon.
Publicly Schooled English Folk, singing about the 'Toil' is the real one.
“White people didn’t experience pain growing up” is becoming the most cliche thing on the internet
you give americana too much credit by playing an F...they would need a capo for that advanced musicianship.
deliberately...if an americana musician is watching this getting annoyed, thev Dsus2/F will properly point out their uselessness and how they should leave this to the professionals like me...
Yea the music you like is so much better then that, how do they even not see it they’re total idiots compared to us
@@arzabaelnobody plays that chord. Not because we can’t but Because we don’t want to.
@@Hartlor_Tayley was referring to the big picture I don’t know what that note is because I am a fan of music more than a skilled music reading academic so I can actually tell you what sounds good to people rather than what sounds good to other artists
@@arzabael what sounds good to people, yeah that right. Sometimes it not about the chords. Songs are funny things,
The kit was missing the hipster beard! You need a partial refund Andy
The greatest line that I have ever heard it's probably the one you just said the cheeky Fox brilliant absolutely brilliant I think I am in f****** love
love you too...spread the love...
I hate Americana! - Andy Edwards
If I were putting the Americana kit together, I would have included a plaid shirt and suspenders instead of the waistcoat. Also a paste-on big, bushy fake beard.
4K HDR...looks good 👍
In Avantguard Americana Progfolk that we play in our village here in East Belgium traditionally we also add steeldrums in a microtanal tuning.
Add a bottle of malt and throw the thing into DADGAD for authentic Scottish folk music. Therein you’ll find the basis of the blues. 😂
Have you ever listened to Allison Kraus & Unioon Station? Some of the later records. See if you can play one single tune on any of those records. Good luck, with or without the hat.
Is that the Roger Waters relux kit? Granchester if seashell and stone all rolled into one. Just need a few covid coughs and other body noises, and you could go global. 😂
You should be on the stage. The next one leaves town in 10 minutes.
Open your own micro brewery?
Perhaps a ballad to the unfeasibly small waistcoat?
This is what RUclips is all about, or rather, what's it's meant to be about. At least to me. Home videos of people having fun.
I wrote a song about Donald Strump.
It's called,,, Codpeice in the rye.
Sorry, but they sent you the wrong hat. It should be greasy, sweaty and filthy, so you can look like Henry Fonda in “Grapes of Wrath.”
What a song 😂
What the hell is Americana?
Oh!! It's that stuff that the hobo plays. After his arms and legs were cut off trying to jump onto a moving train boxcar.
When I was a weeeee lad in AMERICA! It was well known that hobos would eat little children. Along with a can of Boston baked beans.
Commenters in this thread are applying much too broad of a filter to the definition of Americana.
Must be recent, hipster, signalling, and waistcoat. The Band, James Taylor, Allison Krause, etc. wouldn't qualify.
The Lumineers and Mumford and Sons would qualify.
Very funny Andy .. 😂.. now try to destroy the pretentious prog music ..👍
Andy's ode to British insecurity. Don't judge me, I have's the Covid, so let's record this diss Americana vid in 4K. Not sure whether to LMAO, or unsubscribes this fool.
You definitely are American aren't you! Don't get the joke so I will explain. I'm not dissing America. I'm dissing bands like Mumford and Sons, British people who delve into this made up genre. I also did English folk music and diss England just as much (believe me England and the US can take it).
But if you don't get it you better insubscribe coz this sort of humour runs deep here...
@@AndyEdwardsDrummer I'm an American who grew up with faulty Towers, and of course The Flying Circus. I LOVE British humor when it's funny. Like how Terry Gillian took Monty Python to another level. Sneaky Brit though explaining your advanced satirical comedy to the dumb Yankee. But who doesn't get it when nobody implied you were bagging on Americans. Read it again. I actually said you were "dissing Americana". You've said you hate this style of music many times. I have no problem with that, because I hate that crap too. Good satire doesn't include making a fool of yourself. When you'er talking about your experience you are genuinely Andy, and that's why I'm a fan. I nearly fell out of my chair watching your top 10 Jazz Rock albums. Playing out your inner conflict about playing someone else's drums is in your comedy wheelhouse. Honestly though, wasn't this vid kind of aimed as revenge for that race baiting idiot who got under your skin? Just say'n.
thanks , i pissed my pants watching this !
It might be your age....
Lyric suggestions:
British folk music:
As I went out one morning, in the merry month of May, a maiden I did spy (pronounced “spoi”).
Americana:
Stuff about levees, creeks, bayous etc.
Andy - i couldn't have done this better…this kind of 'critic' runs deep with me, in that its (or ANYTHING) is so easy to parody. i often get lampooned for my disrespect. But its only just a joke, as you & i know. Just listen to 'Solitude' - Black Sabbath (On Master Of Reality). A two chord (English folky) tune i guess, not unlike your original (Americana) rendition. Go figure ! LOL.
Paul.
PS; as i most often don't listen to lyrics, or the meaning of same, i was always mystified of this (Black Sabbath) track, in amongst so much strong music on the album….for me, it seemed like a 'filler' - but what would i know ! LOL. LOVE your work !
I know you're having fun with this, deliberately generalizing. A lot of artists get lumped under the Americana label. Jim White is my favorite. I think you may be surprised by his sound. ruclips.net/p/OLAK5uy_krGBh9C4Pc7W-2L9DUV6WJwlbLpYxHz6k&si=riiMAqAculMZceTV
Pretty good but maybe 4K destroys the effect... ;). Needs some good old grainy 16 mm, or even 8 mm. sounds more like a Syd Barret-y Robyn Hitchcock-y kind of thing than Americana. Just saying. Very nice!
In your list of the worst musical instruments, I would add "electric guitars" as number 11 (and I own half a dozen of them !) - I wonder if it's not about to become the next accordeon : something that came to be very popular for 3 or 4 decades and finally gets linked in youngsters' mind to their parents' generation... I can't think of the too many jokes that people will make about electric guitar players : their laughable "rock" moves and faces while playing awful distorted sounds with earplugs, pretending they inherited the blues mojo, and so on... By the way, "jaw harp" isn't exclusively "jew", is it ?
Andy, you're so funny !!! "trop drôle" in french....
Why wouldn''t this be a proper video? Its a lot funnier then the millionth ranking video.
If Andy has got the lurgi, I wonder if this could be his swansong? [pun intended] More comedic rants please Andy!
The ultimate protest song😅
On the 22nd? "I will wait"
Andy has said he's tried to play drums like a black his whole life. That's cool. But what bothers me is that he has also tried to sing like Benny Hill his whole life...Ha! Ha!
We need a non-covid version, but that's great that you felt possessed! 😂
Someone has an inferiority complex.
What talent! The Covid king strikes again!
They sent you a bra instead of a vest.
But, what do you expect when you buy your Americana Kit from Wish.
Andy's Guide to Polka. Germanicana I guess. As long as there's beer involved I'm okay with it.
Roooolllllllllllll oooooout the baaaaarrrrrrrrrreeeeellllllllllssss 😂😂😂😂😂
Question is to anyone, what genre do you suggest for someone brought up in western culture who wants to play largely acoustic and simple music?
Mumford & Sons
@@StratsRUs hmm. Even though you’re the one who said public schooled folk artists talking about toil is “the real one”, you’re gonna suggest Mumford and Sons, after Andy put that waistcoat on. The question was rhetorical friend there is no answer other than the bands everyone decided today to add to the list of things that aren’t as good as what they grew up with
I think you need to purchase a map that will enable you to locate your sense of humour.
@@jimmycampbell78 it gets lost
Funniest thing since Kenny Everett’s Bee Gee kit.
You're ready to collaborate with Allison Krauss! Feel better soon
"Well where did that come from, then???" LMAO!
Speaking of Americana, James Taylor wants his hat back.
Where else on RUclips can you find an authentic royal subject strumming and singing tirelessly despite his afflictions in an honest and heartfelt attempt to master this ancient form of music? I just wish you could add a kilt and bagpipes and film in a castle. That would be awesome!
Did not come with the beard? so, you need to grow that yourself?
Haha, what a crackup... 👏👏👏 play Rocky Racoon 😎
If this is indicative I can't wait for your next album.
😂😂😂 oh man I lost it at “the badger” 😂😂
Andy, I’m afraid they may have sent you a defective kit…. The 3 chords you need are C, D, G. Not F. And yes, a capo would be required if you want to play an F. I actually know a bluegrass musician who showed me how to play in drop D tuning… with TWO capos!! Imagine the ingenuity of this! Yours truly, an American Amateur Guitarist. ❤
Is this AI? Now the perpetual question.
A Masterclass!
Too much fun! Haha! Your brit accent really makes it sound authentically Amerciana.
- "Doing stuff with cows"
- "Dressed in red they want the foxy dead"
Brilliant! hahahaha! Thx for the entertainment!
"Doing stuff with cows" is a beautiful lyric.
Keep tapping that spine, Andy, there's gold in them thar hills there is! Aaarh and begorrah I think I gonna sing a song bout a beaver in the mountains of the Great Achiever now. Inspired be I by swich mickle tydinges of bamboozle. Maybe the Legend of the Arindorondacktack Beaver Bear That Ate A Gallon of Mooses by the side of the flower mead. Alas and alack. Murie betide thee. Hale and good health upon the morrow good Sire.
THANK YOU. 💌 I swear if I hear one more gd song about a train I might throw myself under one. Or whiskey or ramblin' or outlaws. WELL DONE. (and get well soon).
Thanks for listening
That covid medication is obviously strong!!!! 😂 I wonder if they do a jazz fusak kit??😅
Sure. Bob Guccione junk jewelry, see-through socks, and a pint of Hennessy to share with your main squeeze while you try to convince her that your other main squeezes don’t exist.
Andy! Seriously that was the worst Americana i have ever heard 🤣Andy you can't listen to say John Prine's song Illegal smile or the song Tall buildings by John Hartford and say you don't like it one bit. I mean that stuff is deep deep americana and very lovely, even though we love Jazz and Prog and Fusion ofcourse ☺
It would be funnier if Andy were to give classic Americana its due first, rather than just take the piss out of its idiot bastard son.
You covered from Bob Dylan to Mark Knopfler! Well done! Hope you get well soon……👍
Is it covid or pollen.
Really funny! The low voice sounds like Mark Knopfler.
When does the tour start?
What do you call or think of all the bands like The National or Arcade Fire who have lots of people on stage but with seemingly very little music happening. Is that some sort of americana?
Too funny 😂 and authentic 🤘🏽
It's like a B n' M Bargains Ry Cooder
You'll be calling an arse a fanny next 🤔
Get well soon man love your videos my grand father was British
....the effects of COVID!!
Good recovery, Andy!
"The Night They Drove Ol' Kidderminster Down..."
🎼🎵🎶🎙️🪕 ☝️😎
😅 Love it.. your best yet Andrew.. you should go solo as The Yodelling Pirate 😂
Eat that Bill Bailey! Animals of England rules...thanks for the laff Andy I needed cheering up this morning! Re the 4k test the pic quality looks great....and hope you get better soon!
Get well soon, better get you some grits. Very funny video. Thanks Andy.
Hilarious!!
He’s looking mighty Dust Bowl
The Great Depression lives on in the two chord boredom of trust fund college drop outs everywhere
I haven't laughed so much since the time you threw a Last Exit CD across the room.
Andy looks like you're having a great time doing this video. 😁👍🏾💯🎶
I am...no research needed, no editing...just pure stupidness
Who’s that guy in the corner loading bullets into his six shooter ?
Funny one!
This is so the local music scene open mic night.
Cowboy chords ago go.
Is that a Hobbit waistcoat?
Yes...or a slight middle class gentleman
@@AndyEdwardsDrummer did Planty give it you? He's got a bit of a thing about hobbits!
But he is definitely not slight
Perhaps he had one as a pet?
👍😂
Best wishes for fast recovery.
Get a lot of sun really helps
Hysterically funny concept and (for a few minutes) execution. As a fan of Americana, it hurt. Instead of the facile put-on put-down, why not give the quality Americana artists, e.g. The Band, Gillian Welch, James Taylor, OCMS, etc. a little benefit of your insightful comment, which is THE BEST? I remain hopeful. BTW, it would be very easy to mock bad Prog.
I was not mocking the music, I'm mocking the idea, and the types of people who perform it
Thanks for the clarification. I would love to hear your serious consideration of good Americana music-maybe The Band’s eponymous album.
Not my thing, but a brilliant album. Fantastic musicians playing the meaning of the song
I believe my respect for you has multiply to the power of 3 I've been looking for someone to fill in the shoes of Arlo Guthrie has an American I am truly truly impressed I think you have found your true calling in music pentangle anymore my God you are superb I wasn't really sold on all the Americana and British Folk but you have reached out and touched my soul I apologize I'm there with you now
I may do some more of these brilliant songs
Kenneth Williams did a folk singer character, on radio, I believe.
I loved that character...he knew how to roll his vowels. I wish I could talk about these people here on my channel...
Kenneth Horne, unquestionably one of the most understated comic talents and one of the finest 'radio voices' ever to grace the airwaves.
Do you think you could put the tab up for us and the fingerpicking patterns, please. I've ordered a hat, and I've already got an undersized waistcoat that was my grandad's. I never thought I would get to use it because he was 5'8" and lean, while I'm 6'6" and not.
I'm really looking forward to my new career in Americana. All I need now is a guitar.
Whats a 'tab up'?
@AndyEdwardsDrummer Tab = guitar tablature. Up = up on the Internet as a pdf, perhaps. How can you expect us to learn all these Americana chords without tab? I know you're a musical genius to whom all this complicated stuff comes easily, but the rest of us have to work hard at it. I have already learned C and D in the last month, and I feel it's time to move forward.
Nah
Sounds like neo-prog to me.
Thank you Andy for such practical advice!
Glad it was helpful!
Had a coffee down the nostrils moment when you went into the badger verse! I think I was overcome with the musics sheer authenticity!
You were...
I'm vulnerable to Covid and my son just had it, please try not to give it to someone else .....
I think you can watch this video in complete safety. My drum tech is really vulnerable too and I though i had given it to him but he didn't get it thank God
Ride them there cows Andy!
I want the album...! 😂👏🤣
I've checked the website and other kits from this company are:
Learn Jacques Brel Classics Like "Je vous deteste" (beret included);
Yes, Gates Of Delerium, polka-style;
John Cage's 4'33" For Dummies.
Thanks, and get well soon.
The finest practioners of 'Americana' has to be Gary Louris and his compadres The Jay Hawks. Ostensibly becauase Gary has professed the British Invasion was a significant influence on his musical landscape.
