Quite possibly one of the best live performances that I have ever heard. Almost exactly like the studio version, in a tiny bar. Damn. These guys are the real deal. Excellent musicians all around, this really makes me smile.
I don't like live versions at all. They never live up to expectations...until now
The Bluebird could only hold about 20 people max! Now that's what you call an intimate up close gig. :-)
Yeah that is the lovely part about this. They record what they are able to do. No overproduced stuff that you never can play live.

The fact... THE FACT! that this sound virtually no different to the recorded version... AND THIS IS LIVE!!!! IS DOWN RIGHT TERRIFYING!!! as that shows how good they are.... they wow!
They are close. The main guy with the hat on most definitely is the closest at sounding basically exactly like the album. The other two that sing definitely have some balancing done in the studio vs live, but they are great regardless.

As a huge Metallica fan, regarded as one of the best live band in history. And playing guitar myself....sounding THIS good live is unheard of. Just insane.

i was sleeping rough when i first heard this and of all my problems, i thought it really sucked that i'd never find out who this was. well, weeks later, i was waiting on my forms to get in the nightshelter when one of the staff stopped on a dime and said who's humming the dead south? i love them! 😂

UDATE SEPT 2021. We all thought it was over in May, but no. I have a voice on this shoulder, and a diff voice on that shoulder. My friends and I have dialed it back: outdoors ok, indoors not ok. Get the jab people! FROM JUNE 2021: We've been seeing live music 3x week since May 2021. DMV area is well vaccinated, and it matters. Thank you my neighbors. The VFW 350 is a start, holds about 80: King Soul band, The Thrilbillies, Rhodes Tavern Troubadours, plus Soul Crackers. This place is thick with outdoor summer shows. Can't wait to get back to barbes in Brooklyn for a Tuesday night: Slavic Soul Party!
