Who else heard their song " In hell I'll be in good company " first and immediately fell in love with their sound just like me?
"In hell I'll be in good company " would be a one hit wonder if it arrived in mainstream. No other song of theirs has the potential of being liked by many like that one
I did. Can't remember what I was listening when RUclips suggested it and been a fan ever since.
In Hell did it for me. I didn’t think I could get into this stuff but now I love it.

My neighbours does not appreciate listening to The Dead South with me. One time a security officer knocked on my door cause a neighbour had reported a disturbance. He told me to turn down the volume, and if it happens again it will cost me $250-500. I still blast their tunes but not on drunken sing-a-long late nights/early mornings in the middle of the week, haha.

As an English guy I don't think this type of music is appreciated enough in this country. The Dead South are a unique group of musicians. Brilliant music.

Well, it's more blues than country, you know that ? It's folk-bluegrass... Maybe you like that because it's not country music...
I think they have more of an "Old West" vibe. Several of their songs would make awsome soundtracks to a really good Modern Western.

I am a metal head and clicked on this by mistake , normally I would just scroll past , so glad I didn’t this is absolutely brilliant. Yup, many of us fall for this band, the only conclusion I can come to, is that metalheads have excellent taste in music. Not that I ever doubted that, obviously.🙂
If i'm not mistaken, all except the bass player were originally metal musicians. The banjo player seems to use metal chord progressions in some of the songs too.

Possibly the most under appreciated song of the decade. An instant classic with a great western tale. This song makes me reflect on life I’ve yet to live.

Wow I never realized how few lyrics there are in the song, even though it's 6 minutes long. Just shows how deep the lyrics are and how invested you get in the story. How they play their instruments in this song really adds a thick layer to it too!

You got me curious so I dragged out the big guns, amps and earspeakers (yes, earspeakers.), It's pretty good but the singers guitar is too far to the right and the 2nd singers voice is to far up. This could be youtube distorting things though. Either way, good song, will see them in a couple weeks time.

Modern country radio music is not "country music" but falls into either hick-hop or southern pop.
I would not classify these guys as bluegrass, although they have the traditional guitar banjo and mandolin, and the background vocals are definitely reminiscent of oldtimey campfire singing. Their style is more rock/blues influenced in my opinion.
Having said that I like bluegrass and love this band. This is my 2nd favorite song they perform.
