Music is so personal, tastes can be so diverse and so eclectic from person to person. No matter what it is if you like it……..listen to it 👍 I’m listening to these guys with a bottle of nice Italian red wine while sat in front of a raging fire pit in my back garden. Who knows where the music will go next???
I'm from old Kentucky folks --and I say these boys are the real deal! The soul of old Bluegrass and heart of Southern spine! Yihaa! DAMN PROUD to see all y'all international folks likin' 'em too! Lived 2 years in BERLIN__daughter was born there--loved it!
I cannot believe how many views this has now! I remember checking it out when it had under 100. I'm so glad they are getting the attention that they deserve! One of my all time fav bands!
Thank you RUclips, I probably would never have found these guys without U. The lead singer's voice is so unique and now that they've transitioned over the years they look like they belong in the movie DEADWOOD. I cannot stop playing these videos, they are so dope.
Hey Jim, I realise that bluegrass is highly contagious and infectious but how it reached and survived the prairies of Saskatchewan beats me:) They are an accomplished, great group and would be greatly received and welcome in Australia
So many great bands from across Canada including the prairies...The Guess Who, BTO, Crash Test Dummies, Doug and The Slugs, The Stampeders, The Tragically Hip, Barenaked Ladies, Tom Cochrane and Red Rider...and numerous more. It's a big country with sparse population, especially across the prairies so it should come as no surprise that music unites us here.
A year ago I came to watch because of their name. Been watching for a year now. I think they have a perfectly apt name. This is the type of music I used to listen to at the small country store on a Saturday evening. No auto tune, no electric instruments, just different types of acoustic instruments, harmonicas, spoons, and other improvised instruments, and original songs. This is the sound of the south that has been all but killed nowadays. Glad to hear it again. This old lady says thankyou❤
Like so many others here, this was a happy, happy, happy accidental find! Love it! New folk/rock/blues. A morning of gospel is what led me here. Go figure. Blessed day to all.
Listen to the recorded version and had to look up this one because the live and unplugged version is so much better. Ugh I miss live music with talented musicians.
Honestly... my playlists on RUclips be all over the place that sometimes I NEED The Bastard Son to put me back on the right path. 10/10 boys, great track.
I bought a Banjo when I found The Dead South. Now all I want to do is learn all their songs. Ready for a new album too. I can’t wait. They are the best band I’ve ever heard, they changed my life in soooo many ways.
I grew up listening to rock and hip hop like slipknot n korn n biggy n wu tang. You guys are awesome turned me onto something totally different. I've always been open to lots of dissent music but this is way outside my usual, I love it.
Me too! I've never liked country and by and large still don't, but this isn't country. It's feels like bluegrass with a punk influence to me. Love them.
Just so people know, this isn't country, this band is much closer to bluegrass or folk than country. Although, growing up as a death metal head, bands like this, who can tell a fantastic story with music that sounds amazing, will always steal my heart. Just discovered them last night and I'm obsessed with their storytelling.
Just found these guys and me and my best friends said the exact same thing like they need to be a group of npcs you can run into and they need to be the soundtrack as well
This is hauntingly beautiful. It almost sounds like sicilian music. I can imagine myself eating a big plate of spaghetti in Italy with the sound of those riffs
these guys are legit they play instruments all by themselves...sing without anything helping them or their voices...just amplifiers..like i said LEGIT! I love them!!
@Escobar's Hippo Yea they definitely took a que from that song, and as a big fan of TPB i'll admit this song is much better. and as you say REST IN PEACE Lahey! Check out liquor stories on youtube some time if you haven't. Cheers, now wheres my whores at :D.
I laughed out loud, woke up my girlfriend, and apparently tried to get her out of bed to dance with me. but I'm sober and love it the same today. thanks guys
So it's 2am and I saw this and thought who the hell is that. I clicked and watched and am now obsessed lol you guys are freakin amazing!!!!! It's like a hint of the old southern music but with a (for lack of better words) 'citrus' freshness.. I have no idea how to put into the right words lol but I LOVE IT (I'm going by how it sounds)

@dudefrombelgium It's also possible they just don't typically enjoy this style but they just like this band
Music is so personal, tastes can be so diverse and so eclectic from person to person. No matter what it is if you like it……..listen to it 👍

Thank you RUclips, I probably would never have found these guys without U. The lead singer's voice is so unique and now that they've transitioned over the years they look like they belong in the movie DEADWOOD. I cannot stop playing these videos, they are so dope.

They only get better, every time you hear them!!!!
I just found them now. Just fine for me. Johanesburg. South Africa. So my type of music
I love the cellist. The whole band is great, but his energy is just so much fun.
You mean the banjo player.
It's a shame about all that sexual misconduct mess Danny found himself in before leaving the band.
HE'S BACK!
The mandolin catches you the base rugs you and his vocals just ride the track perfect
Fucking love these dudes..... seen them in Kentish town & they absolutely rocked the gaff. Top lads x
Can’t put my finger on what makes these guys so awesome but just incredible talent.
