- When I first came across Oliver Anthony and his music, I was blown away to say the least. He had a whole collection of songs that I could listen to for hours. Oliver resides in Farmville, VA with his 3 dogs and a plot of land he plans on turning into a small farm to raise livestock. We have a whole mess of songs set to release of Oliver for your viewing and listening pleasure, he is truly special and notes his biggest influence as Hank Williams Jr. Oliver wants to give hope to the working class and your average hard working young man who may have lost hope in the grind of trying to get by.

When you haven't seen your home in the daylight in more than a month and when you sit in your driveway for an extra ten minutes before you go in to your wife and kids, you think about the things in this song.
Yeah…this comment hits home. That extra 10 min just to process the night, put all your worries aside for a bit, and gather yourself enough to put a smile on your face before the kids see you. I get that, I really do.
God bless you man what a wonderful call the Work to say the truth of what's going on I come from a common country and I poured concrete for now quick we have to fight for freedom to work so hard with so little money and get nowhere
Wow that was a very powerful very true statement. This comment was powerful because if you know, you know exactly what you just said. For so many of us your comment we have done that so many times. Especially the part about seeing your home in the daylight. Mmm powerful
Just know that you deserve better. Everyone does.
Mate you need to learn how to love your wife and kids more. Screw the taxes and payments, keep solid with your family 1st. Rush home brother.
"young men are putting themselves 6 feet in the ground, cuz all this damn country does is keep on kicking them down!" hit like a train....
Keep on puttin one foot in front of the other and carrying the light with you
I pray for peace and strength for you, brother.
Lord it's a damn shame. I feel you brother.
Damn right!
and Biden kills yougmen of Ukraine and russia! With God on his side!
I work 60hrs a week as a diesel mechanic. Come home and run a shop at home. Constantly working so my son has everything I didn’t. Wouldn’t change it for the world though.
I don’t know where you’re at but Columbus Ohio is paying $65 hr
I admire people who can physically handle working that much. Doesnt it get depressing spending that much time at work and much less time with your child and family? Wouldn’t you like to make the same amount of money but work fewer hours and in turn have more time with you child?
I know from personal experience that a parent that works 50+ hours a week does not have the time or energy to spend quality time with their spouse and children. I was raised by a father who worked so much that the only time I saw him was at night just before bed. Children would much rather spend actual time with their parents and go on adventures than have all the toys and trendy materials any day. Gifts and staying up with the trends was nice and all, but I craved actual time with my dad. I cherish the times we went camping and when we didn’t have much far more than any of the material items he would buy me.
Life is too short. Spend time with your loved ones as much as you can. We shouldn’t have to choose between family and work.
@@T1Kat207I work a lot also but when we don’t work that much we feel like we are letting our family down and that gets depressing
@@richieorcasitas1039Balance the two.
I did the same for years. Its called being a provider and a good man.
The best thing about these comments is seeing how connected people are all over the world by this message.
So far I've clocked Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Kazakhstan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Russia, Scotland, Serbia, South Africa, Sweden, and Uganda in the comments.
I’m torn on what’s better, the song or reading the comments connecting people from all over the world. Cheers to everyone who feels this song in their heart.
Cheers mate.

The miner / minor line is absolutely legendary.
The lyrics are "look out for 'minors' not just some 'miners' on an island somewhere" not the other way around
*These were the lyrics on Spotify when I looked up the song on there a couple of days ago and now there are none so whoever wrote those on Spotify was incorrect and now I feel like a fool
It's look out for Miners as in Coal Miners
@@LeDuck1999 sorry to say but you’re incorrect. The lyrics are miners and then minors. You can check on the official lyrics.
It’s a reference to the Jeffrey Epstein and elite pedophiles situation.
@LeDuck1999 it's look out for miners (coal miners) not just minors (kids on epsteins island)

You’re working for the rich guys in the song. I feel for ya.
@Slumerican307 I feel ya brother. Keep your head up. But, Love not hate. That's what Oliver Anthony's music is about. You're wasting your time and precious energy and most importantly you heart, hating those Richmond North of Richmond, rather than loving the people they're putting down that Oli is singing about here. ❤️
Oliver, when this came out I was homeless, on drugs, and then jail. I now have a house, job, and husband. This song and “Clover Cage - In the Moment” are the two songs that helped get rid of my depression. I just want to send love to everyone and I want everyone to know things will get better. We are in this together..I love you ❤️
God bless you!
Very cool, we do get better! We just need a reason to stay better! Much Love
I’m proud of you, and super happy for you too! I’ve been sober 5 months. I can’t believe it gets better but I’m trying to hope.
Congratulations!

I'm a 52 year old medically retired woman. I was born with a severe spinal defect. I worked 18.5 years after I lost my first leg at 23. I worked until 10 years ago when I lost my other leg and became a spastic paraplegic. I worked so hard. But I never got ahead because of the extraordinary medical expenses I have. This song made me cry for everyone just trying to get by.
I pray God up above will lay his hands on you. That he will give you peace and love that you can see and feel. You are not alone in your suffering, please know this

Grew up Homeless in Portland, Oregon. Spent 12 years doing my best not to become again. Then I took everything I cared about into a backpack and dufflebag and moved to Ohio. Working in a factory, busting my ass everyday and I'm struggling to eat. This song hit me so hard I had to take a moment.
Hang in there! Life ain’t fair. Life ain’t easy. But we don’t know what tomorrow brings. God sees your struggle and is willing to help if we accept his help.
Hell yeah man, tax the mf rich so we can finally get some real damn change in this country. Worker solidarity 🤙🏻

@@GabGotti3 He's actually not doing that at all. It's directed to the politicians in Washington DC. They are the rich men north of Richmond he is referring to. He speaks out against taxation, people living off welfare and the like. That is very anti-socialist. You are thinking that the "rich men" he's speaking about are simply businessmen, and while he does speak about low pay, I think that it something that resonates today because your money does not go as far as it did just a few years ago. The companies keep raising their prices, making more money, putting more people into debt, while at the same time aren't raising wages for their employees to keep up with inflation.

BELIEVE IT BROTHER !@@georgeetter7558
@@georgeetter7558 I re-read this today. And was recently reminded by a Romanian friend of mine who lived in a communist country for the first 24 years of her life. She lost her parents to communism and moved to the US to get away. She said people would regularly disappear never to be heard from again. But it does make me worry - if it can happen there, it can happen here. Hopefully we muster the courage and wisdom to overcome this threat. I believe our nation is at risk of falling apart, just like Soviet Union did in 1989. These are dark days, and hopefully we emerge victorious, but it is far from guaranteed and unless people actually DO something, we will lose.
I (as in we the people) dictate to this government, this government does Not dictate to us.

"What I have to show for it" - Dear friend - you don't have to show anything to anyone. The only One that saw it from the day one, from the Cross, sees it. He is the only One to sweat and work hard for, not for us. God bless you!
I was born and raised in a small village in China, but the lyrics of this song powerfully resonate with me. My parents are almost into their 80s now, and they have never had good days in their whole lives - they have endured much pain and struggle even unimaginable to me. Nowadays, the so-called 'elite' (whether in the USA or China) is busy developing big and fancy ideas, leaving the working poor stuck in devastation. Politicians always talk about human rights, but in the meanwhile, they deliberately ignore our basic needs: the right to survive. Our meager earnings are even not enough for the rent and the utility bills.
this song resonates with all the people who are sick and tired of how things are so screwed up in our modern world. the people of China will be put through hell again if the fat emperor decided to invade Taiwan.

I understand what you mean. This is real country. Not the overproduced pop they pass off as "country" in the last 20 years. Real country has heart and soul. It's not about the sound, it's all about the meaning behind it.
Jaxon Ayers
This is one of the best country songs I've ever heard since Meryle Haggard , Hank Jr. and Johnny Cash. I love old school country the most, but this guy is really good !
Speaking from Ireland, this song is an emotional masterpiece. It genuinely moves me multiple times every single time I play it. You speak for the majority of the 🌎 Fuck the rich men north of Richmond.
The area this singer comes from is one of the last great strongholds of Scots-Irish (Ulster) immigration into the US. It was a place nobody else wanted to live because of the poor soil and rugged mountainous terrain. It ended up being a coal mining area, and since coal has gone out of fashion, the people here are really struggling. It means a lot to us over here whose ancestors were driven out of Ireland and Scotland to read your comments. :)
@@LadyIarConnacht We have a blood debt to those same ancestors to stand together in these moments. Because Ireland is a tax haven in Europe, a lot of your companies are headquartered here too. To say they've influenced out society and government is an understatement. We've lost most of our manufacturing and are completely reliant on other countries for everything. Ireland understand the plight of rural America and stands with you. We won't forget out American brothers and sisters, if you do the same for us! ❤
We gotta stop voting for socialists ☹
Economics certainly needs to be revamped... start with plundering those who side with thieves, murderers and destroyers. Then put the resulting infusion of cash into the hands of those who know how to (and are willing to) make countries prosper.
Preach on brother. We need all the voices from everywhere and anywhere. Eat the rich.
39 years old. Spent 12 1/2 years as a plumber until the small company I worked for went under as the pandemic began. Working for a big chain home store for the last 3 years getting beaten into the ground, treated like a disposable asset, and watching my earnings equal less and less as the prices of basic necessities goes up. Ive fought addiction and won. Ive found love and lost it. This song resonates on a level that I havent felt in a long time. Thank you and god bless. 🙏
Keep pushing homie and come out clean on the other side. You got this
You didn't see this shit coming? How much gold and Bitcoin did you buy in 2016? It wasn't that hard to foresee.

Usually I don't really comment on RUclips videos but for this one I'm more than willing to make an exception. This is just brilliant whether you like the genre or not. It hits hard and is so pure and real. Music with a soul for sure. We need more people on planet earth like you. Wishing you the best.
Im a Honduran American who's been here all 40 years of my life. I have two jobs. I work as a cook, then i go to UPS to load boxes. I barely see my 2 boys and I hate that more than anything . This song had me tearing up. We are the true disenfranchised.
May your efforts and deeds not go unnoticed. May it get easier, with you also still being able to provide.
You are a great father and your boys are very lucky to have you.
At the beginning of last year, it was estimated that 10 billionaire men possessed six times as much wealth as the poorest three billion people on Earth. In the United States, the richest 10 percent of households own more than 70 percent of the country’s assets.
@@blogleftbankerwow. And by now it's probably 5 men with 12 times the poorest 4 billion.
This was my hubby 25 years ago, down to UPS and cooking. He became a firefighter and we still struggle some, but can live on one income with old cars and used clothes.
I'm working overnights, my husband works days. Making the most we've ever made in our lives. Still struggling, still living pay check to pay check just to feed the kids, pay the bills, and forget child care. Nothing is getting better around us. This song rings in my soul.
May the lord bless you and your family.
Same with my wife and I. Glad our son started school this year. Bills will go down a bit, start saving again. Eat better and catch up on some bills. It's hectic 🤦🏾♂️
Also still trying to adjust back to civilian life after a year deployment. GOD got us though. We will continue to push and make sure we live a good life.
I work nights and my wife works days, we say the same, and that if it were just 4 years ago we’d be making enough to live like kings! As I’m on the way home to catch her before she leaves at 6am for two minutes I just wish I could work day and spend more time with her and my kids.
I hope things get better for you. Just remember you are doing what's right and best for your children. God Bless you

This song hit's right in the feels. The "man" let my uncle down 😢. I miss him so much 😔. He was a very talented songwriter, singer, and guitarist like Oliver. He could have made it. My cousin did! And he made it out the Southland spreading the gospel. You might recognize the band. He was the guitarist in P.O.D, Marcos Curiel 😎. Disco baby here. I can remember winters in southwestern Montana with huge bonfires and a couple feet of snow. My parents would throw party's and my Dad would set up bose speakers on the back deck. There would literally be 50 people in our backyard dancing. I can close my eyes and see my parents dancing to this song. Such amazing chdhood memories ❤️

I’m a young blue collar guy and this song describes a lot of how I feel. I’m a wildfire fighter, we regularly work 100+ hour weeks, and it’s still a struggle to provide for my family. Glad to hear someone talking about this in an honest heartfelt way!

42, wife, 2 kids, working since 96’, blue collar through and through.
This song gives voice to the quietly desperate, a synthesis of our blood sweat and tears, it’s a composition of our dirty hands, depleted accounts and the disconnect of the overlords.
