Lyrics like that kind of started with Dylan, but considering that two of the guys were in grunge bands, I'm certain they heard of Pete Droge and "Sunspot Stopwatch". Very similar style lyrically, and both have a haunting melodic line with the lead instruments.

I can relate to this !! After so much shit I never thought I'd go thru , just gave her my house on the Kemp Lake in Tx. Only time I let myself care after what I saw growing up. Different time and place may have been good. Sometimes it's 51% vs.49%. But you'll never make it if either person thinks you can "Have you're cake and eat it to". Love can be a "hell of a drug" as Rick James said about Cocaine. Unfortunately Cocaine in the late 70"s was my obsession. But in 94 to2000 I didn't touch that.

Actually sir, You are right. They are performing this song at a slower rate. Though not much slower than the actual version. I'd put it at .15-.25% slower than the album version. Still magnificent either way!

It is both super rad and incredibly disappointing that bands from the Pacific Northwest and Canada are doing southern gothic folk better than southerners. That’s not at all to say they should stop, though. Keep up the spooky banjo riffs!
