My name is Diego, I'm from a small city in the south of Chile, Valdivia, and you are on all my playlists. A hug from distance
"Regrets from Chile" is poetic, honestly. I think you are in the beginning of writing a great song. Thank you for listening to us! Lamentaciones y saludos desde United States ;)
I’ve just booked tickets for your concert in Whangarei NZ. I’ve followed you on RUclips for the last couple of years. New Zealand will be privileged to have your family here. I’ve been marketing you guys to all my friends and family.
Some notes: No idea why this was in my recommended. Not my type of music. No fan of cover versions. Reckon I just sat here and watched it 20 times over. Astonishingly good.
My two year old daughter has kept asking for this video for ten days, once every evening after dinner : "Jolene Jolene on the phone." Then she comments about each instrument, and also "this is the mum". So much that my wife and I now have to refuse, in spite of how much I love it. You have a tiny huge fan in France. :)
Could you imagine meeting a beautiful girl and when she brings you home to meet the family they do this. I would be like...um...my family just bbq's sometimes in summer...or sees each other on Christmas...sometimes. But it's not a competitions or anything.
Yes! Emmett just makes that dobro 'sing'! Ellen Petersen's singing is just out of this world! Put it all together and there is just one amazing synergy!
This is just perfection. From the arrangement, to the perfect time and driving rhythm, the reprise, instrumental solos, and lead and harmony vocals. The slide guitar riffs are just amazing. The mix is just right too. Perfection. Hats off to you for an amazing performance of a great classic song.
nashville should be out there finding people like this and letting them do their thing, rather than picking people out of hollywood and telling them how to best imitate pop.
buTTer You got that right! Watched it starting downhill years ago before I left it in ‘96...Way back then I was preaching to independents I came across in my studio that the Internet was going to become the biggest tool to help independents-all one had to do was to work hard at it. Many didn’t want to do the work but play “star”...😊
I love the song, I believe this is a dub of a recording. Watch 0:50 closely and her lips do not move while the vocal track is playing. Just interesting. Great regardless, but this is a mix not a live performance. One mic wouldn't capture such a great mix.
I love seeing these young people really loving their singing and you can tell they feel their music.Nowadays, most singers just put their music out with no feeling and no enjoyment. When you “feel” the music in your soul a singer is giving out such a blessing to their listeners.I really enjoy hearing their music. And this group is exceptionally good at feeling their music.
I love how the Mom stands quietly back there just delivering the solid, solid bass foundation on that wonderful upright. The spotlight is up front (where wonderful things are happening, don't get me wrong) while a marvelous performance is going largely unnoticed in the background. So excellent. This is overall the best cover of this song I've ever heard. Nicely done.
How can anyone sound better than the original song...I know Dolly wrote this and it is a smash hit...but I wonder if Dolly heard you sing this? I think it would make her smile and clap for all of you!!!
So glad I found you guys. I especially liked the trading solo choruses at the end. No matter what life may bring, or where it takes each of you, I hope y'all will always find time to create this beautiful music with your family.

I’m sorry for prejudging you. I thought this family is too good-looking to be any good. You know, all flash and no substance, but when you sang the first note... I was hooked. Outstanding! Subscribed.
Wow! Incredible! What a fabulous musical ensemble. So much talent here needs to be showcased to the world. Perfect harmony, perfect musical technique! Bravo!
She has so much control! I’m also way WAY impressed by all the solos at the end of the song. I only wish I dedicated a fraction of my life to the perfection of an instrument like you all have. Good on you
@@RafaelNelvam The mic in the video is an AKG C214, which is a cardioid mic and that has its (golden) capsule facing the camera, so (in the video) they are singing from the *back* of the microphone. That would make the sound even worse.
This video capture a very family-friendly, down to earth performance, with some pretty, serious professional skills in music & singing. Love it. Thanks.
I never seen the song Jolene with too many instruments and lot people performing so excellent . Special before end the performance of each person and each instrument so good.👏👏👏
Wow! Thank you so much for all the love you have shown our family in this video! Just to answer some of the most common questions... We are all a family except for our dear friend, Emmett Franz, on the dobro. And yes, he is amazing. The sound was recorded in our living room that morning through a Behringer X32 Rack with the recording expansion. We used a single microphone for a prop in the video for a focal point. We are very new to filming videos and this seemed like the best option at the time. We recorded No Roots live with a single microphone and you can hear the difference. Love all the song requests! Keep 'em coming! As much as we would LOVE to travel more, we perform full-time in Branson, MO. We do have select tour dates which can be found on our website: www.petersenband.com.
Both songs (this and No Roots) are fantastic covers. I love the variety. Recording this through the Behringer rack but keeping the prop mic was a very good idea. You can absolutely hear the difference. If I ever find myself in Branson I'll be sure to make it a point to see y'all.
Thank you guys This is my favorite version of Jolene by a good margin! This soothes me, and every bad thought in my head instantly leaves when I see this peaceful and harmonic family. When I hear the voice, it's like a magical touch. Thank you so much!
Other than Dolly, I have never heard anyone sing this song any better than you all. You topped all the covers I've ever heard. Absolutely amazing performance! Wow! Electrifying!
Your family performance of this song brought tears to my eyes not just from the lyrics, not just from the vocals, not just from the virtuosity of the instrumentals, but from the commitment to offering up your pure unified family bloodline talent to a classic giving me hope that music still has a future in this world and has not sold out to the music making power mongering machinery. Tha mama in the back on the bass. I see you. Solid work there. Class.
Yesss 😂
Mama slaps.
@@Srfingfreak She solidly slaps. She's the backbone of this whole gorgeous rendition of this fabulous song.
@@aussieevonne7857 and she is proud. And she shall be! ;) Isn't being the backbone the whole thing about a mother?
Reminds me of a local bluegrass group. My friends mom is on the upright bass.
Mom ruling the bass. Just as Moms do. Doing the invisible work. Version of the song brought tears to my eyes. Awesome version.
It's all about the base
i was hoping for this comment to pop up! loved Mom on that bass, and got teared up too , just beautiful.

no solo either :( ... pappy Petersen must be the roady... to carry that XXL fiddle for his wife...
It's always the smallest person playing the largest instrument...
Fat licks by Karen

Give everyone a banjo.
Same here...And noone is half as gorgeous or talented
Nice moment of sweetness
and then depression when reality strikes back :)
That's because their egos don't speak through instruments =P
lol!!!!!! mine too. We all hate each other
None of those women need to worry about losing their man to another woman.
Mexican dude here. This is not my style of music and I dont know how I got here but I'm glad I did. The talent of these folks is undeniable.
Some of the loveliest harmonies come from family collaboration. This family plays beautifully and they sing so well together.❤
The fella on the dobro has some serious skills
Not to forget the guitar, he's what is called smooooth.
YEAH he can really wang that thing
first thing i thought - second was how good the lead singer is
First thing I thought too. Guy is killing it 👍
Yes they absolutely do.
I have only one criticism here: The girl who sings has absolutely nothing to fear from Jolene 🥰
You're right! Talented and beautiful! A fantastic combination!
Nothing at all.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
All four of the women are very lovely, and that gives you an idea how badass Jolene is
My thought, exactly :D

Great Stand-Up Bass Mom !!!!

Yes! "Get it Mama"!! Great job!
Mom should be very proud of her family......great talent.
My mama would hit me with a wooden spoon when I didn't mind her. Imagine her hitting you with that stand up bass.
Not just another pretty face, Mom was roc'n that bass.
