I think what makes his playing with St. Vincent so beautiful is that he obviously doesn’t know the songs, so his improv reflects the tension in the music so much better.
She did actually open for him on one of his tours a number of years ago - so he probably knows some of her stuff - but he's really just a great improvisational musician no matter what.
I have fallen in love with Andrew Bird. I cannot believe I had not heard of him until recently. It's okay everyone I am in mourning there are many types of love and his music and voice have made me fall in love with something that touches my heart
Than you so much! I was waiting for this compilation. Part 1 - Andrew Bird 0:53 Effigy 5:29 Tenuousness 9:04 Natural Disasters Part 2 - St Vincent & Andrew Bird (from 15'50) 16:00 What Me Worry 22:27 Black Rainbow
I remember this being incredibly life-affirming in so many ways. I wish I’d been there in 2009(?) but man, you can’t beat this duo. Edit: Also just wanted to say hello to all my fellow elder Millennials who are here with me re-living their early to mid-20s. What a fucking trip.
I do seem to find myself revisiting these older Andrew Bird performances when I'm feeling nostalgic! His new music is pretty amazing, but the 2010's were such a great time of musical discovery for me and Noble Beast has a permanent home in my heart. Still my favorite artist of all time!
I still listen to this, particularly Natural Disasters, at least 20 times a year. Still consider it some of the best simple harmonies I have ever heard. It’s so beautiful
That version gives me chills it is so beautiful. There is a 2015 concert in paris called live at festival days off. In its entirety in my opinion it is his best work. If you are lucky enough to find it I highly recommend it.
god this feels like a cold quiet winter morning, reminiscing about a trip you went to when you were a child, seeing the events play out through rose-coloured glasses. Like trying to remember a song but only knowing the melody. This feels like that movie Zahrada from 95. Beautiful, familiar, but distant with a tinge of sadness to it
Really tripped out for a second when I saw the top of the description “stay home, stay safe !” when this was uploaded in 2017 😂 thought for a moment La Blogotheque predicted the future
I'll never forget seeing the Black Rainbow song for the first time a few years ago, it was amazing. Didn't realize there were more songs from this set. ❤️
These two are such a beautiful hybrid. Ive known of Andrew Bird for a few years now, and I knew St.Vincent to be quite revered for her talents but by the time I heard of her she was already a 'hipster' sensation so I stayed away. This video is older now and I wish I saw it earlier.
Just discovered Mr Bird, via The Handsome Family. What a Discovery! I love his musicality but also fear for him. I'm an old man (77) and have seen so many great artists die far too young. It's presumptuous but, all I can say, is maybe lighten up? Which isn't easy ever. Still working on it myself.
Goosebumps I tell you - "A black rainbow in a dimly lit room in paris Pervaded the chambers as the pair went on Strumming and squeezing forth such sounds from instruments with indefinite form Elusive as it was the emotion of despair was contained for a moment in eternity as the two struggled for symphony.
This has been on my playlist for years and has never failed to persuade a new point (personal view) of the lyrics and the absolutely beautiful melodic instrumental. I will forever gain a new understanding of myself and accumulate a deeper understanding of the performance as a whole. Unconditionally, I have gained a new perspective with every listen. Thank you to all who make this performance available.
This is one of the greatest videos I ever found on RUclips. I keep coming back to this and still can't get enough. Both of them are simply amazing, and so genuine.
seeing the number of answers of La Blogothèque makes me think they love this as much as i do.. and it wouldn't be a surprise this has more value than gold.. thanks for repost it :)
I’ve been in love with the last two songs since only those two songs were available on RUclips for so long! After nearly a decade, you finally uploaded the full gig, and I stumbled upon this just today! Thank god and thank La Blogotheque for this blessed souls’ exquisite performance! I just can’t help but love the chemistry between them!
I remember seeing their tour together. And this was my introduction to Andrew Bird through Annie. They're two of my favorite artists and in my opinion this was Annie's prime. Maybe it's just because that's when I discovered them though. Bird is from a different planet though
This is one of my favorite listens. I love when he slips in that little violin run from Big Star... 14 Years... I mean Natural Disaster... and Black Rainbow. chills
But times go by and people change. This is lovely, but to cling to anything kills it. It's beautiful in its time, and we can look at this any time we like. But asking the artist to be something she was 10 years ago is kind of cruel, if you think about it.
Saying it's cruel is a bit of an overstatement... there is nothing wrong with hope and it would be nice to hear her going back to this but with all her new experiences and evolutions. She would be just the same but brand new
Cutest giggle ever! 18:47 or close after. I think everything about Annie is absolutely beautiful! She is like a drug that I have become utterly addicted to. I wish that she would do more blues though. She is amazing in all that she does but I enjoy her most doing stuff like this.
Sir, I am sure you do not read these, but your passion for good music, or just music, makes me feel ok in the world. I have made instruments weep with my trying. I can paint. I love your videos. I simply have some colours on a brush. Best of luck to you. I wish that I could paint as well as you create.
Dear god! Sometimes I stop listening to Andrew without no reason, but when yt or when my aleatory playlist is on and I heard him, IT REALLY REMINDS ME how much I enjoy his existence in music. Thx Andrew and YT today :)

Well said!

i've always loved how she usually says "sans le" fear of impending doom in What Me Worry, but since they're in Paris she says "without fear of".
🤯 so glad I found this gem again
I want these two to do a whole album together.
it is incredible how they talk back and forth to each other
i didn't know i needed a st. vincent and bird collab to live a life of enlightenment. AMAZING
Both are amazing artists
Lol Agreed. I wasn't truly living before this.
Together they are very enlightening.
I have fallen in love with Andrew Bird. I cannot believe I had not heard of him until recently. It's okay everyone I am in mourning there are many types of love and his music and voice have made me fall in love with something that touches my heart
you must follow him on Instagram, shares 'live from his home' frequently - he was also in Squirrel Nut Zippers
That version of Black Rainbow is just awesome. It is wonderful to watch great musicians having fun when playing together.
I'm just hearing this, I must say its magic
Than you so much! I was waiting for this compilation.
Part 1 - Andrew Bird
0:53 Effigy
5:29 Tenuousness
9:04 Natural Disasters
Part 2 - St Vincent & Andrew Bird (from 15'50)
16:00 What Me Worry
22:27 Black Rainbow
15:40 "St. Vincent is here and she wants to play with you." "She does??" "Yep"
I love how Andrew's violin sounds like a voice
Captivating

Indeed, a trip it was!!
Not sure about the "trip", but the other word is apt.
What heavens concerts should be
this is pure musical collaboration
I still listen to this, particularly Natural Disasters, at least 20 times a year. Still consider it some of the best simple harmonies I have ever heard. It’s so beautiful
I reckon I’ve been listening for a decade on various posts
That part at 15:47 where everyone says bonsua in unison and she happens to hit a harmonious chord at the same time...the most beautiful sound
What a great moment to notice. I agree. Thanks for pointing it out. Simple things.
mans said BONSUA
bruh it's bon soir
"bonsua" 🤣🤣🤣
Bon soir
Really glad to see this in its entirety re-uploaded. I will never not return to this recording of Natural Disasters. It's life changing.
Damn music
And three years on, still YES
Agree wholeheartedly!
That version gives me chills it is so beautiful. There is a 2015 concert in paris called live at festival days off. In its entirety in my opinion it is his best work. If you are lucky enough to find it I highly recommend it.
holy shit those last two are incredible. i love how andrew had a knack for where annie wanted to go with the song.

This is too beautifulllllllllllllllllllllll
This is my favorite untold love story, St. Vincent and Andrew Bird. Almost put me to tears this time around.
Really tripped out for a second when I saw the top of the description “stay home, stay safe !” when this was uploaded in 2017 😂 thought for a moment La Blogotheque predicted the future
Lol I didnt even notice that
So lucky to have this. Pure.
This amazing. Especially black rainbow. Watching two artists work it out on the spot. Dang
Came into this vid a fan of St Vincent.
Left a fan of Andrew Bird.
A full album between these two needs to happen please
My heart.
Beautiful performance !
Her breaking the song Downton around 20 minutes is an epic set up to a beautiful song
Brilliant, sensitive, timeless.
I'll never forget seeing the Black Rainbow song for the first time a few years ago, it was amazing. Didn't realize there were more songs from this set. ❤️
I remember this tour, they're such a good compliment to each other.
It was before their toured together. We introduced them to each other that night :)

Hehe, Blogothèque, musicians matchmakers since 2006
(22:27) Brazilian singer Julio Secchin re-recorded this song, and called it “Arco-íris Preto”. It was wonderful😍😍😍
my heart melted.... 18:48
Effigy is such a gorgeous piece. Andrew is a god damned treasure.
I absolutely adore both of these artists. It's so good to see this collaboration!
Rarely have I heard the violin speak with such eloquence

she is beeeeeeeeeautiful....... i totally fell in love with her.
If i don t have her then i don t need any other woman. And it s no pb
It feels.like it's been decades since I've seen this. I've been searching!
Annie so amazing! More more MORE

Revisiting this after so many years, what a great collab!

So beautiful, and omygosh her laughter at @19:00 melts the heart.
Amadea Cesari Truly. Also like the happy little response to Andrew at 17:19 as well.
Just painfully, utterly superb. I'm at a beautiful loss for words, so, of course here I am rambling. And maybe a little bit in tears.
Goosebumps I tell you -

Well done, lad, well done.

It’s like they’re flirting with each other with every note they play 🖤😊
A special magic occurs at 17minute 45 seconds ❤
Black Rainbow is just breathtaking. I like the last couple of St. Vincent's albums, but I sort of miss her old style as well.
Arnau Villalbí i Espinós same. Actor was her best
This video just revitalized me for the rest of the decade
THIS WOMAN KNOWS MY PAIN AND SORROW
I realley love them!!
Holy crap!, this gem
when 2 masters of their craft w/ no ego meet up,
the endgame will always be peak

oh my god that transition from 240p to 1080p was just magnifico!! 0:35
This is one of my favorite listens. I love when he slips in that little violin run from Big Star... 14 Years... I mean Natural Disaster... and Black Rainbow. chills
Everything these two do is golden.
this was so incredibly inspiring. I'm also intimidated but the inspiration is overwhelming
this is my ultimate comfort video i love these two so much ughhhh this is the best video
Wow, love this … these two together, what a great idea
I never personally liked st. Vincent, but godamm she has a beautiful voice. Please, keep it up!
Andrew Bird rocks
St. Vincent rocks too
That's a collab I wasn't expecting
An oldie, shot almost 10 years ago. St. Vincent has kind of taken a new direction since, hope she goes back to this sort of thing
this is nice but I hope she doesn't tbh
But times go by and people change. This is lovely, but to cling to anything kills it. It's beautiful in its time, and we can look at this any time we like. But asking the artist to be something she was 10 years ago is kind of cruel, if you think about it.

I am hipnotized. Thank you, La Blogothèque, for sharing this masterpiece.
Hugs from Brazil.
Never fails to inspire and amaze me...the talent is sublime.

Help, i cant stop watch this
Dear god! Sometimes I stop listening to Andrew without no reason, but when yt or when my aleatory playlist is on and I heard him, IT REALLY REMINDS ME how much I enjoy his existence in music.
Thx Andrew and YT today :)
She is an alien with an astounding propensity to pass as a human, albeit one of abnormally talented abilities.
This is so marvelous ..., I never expected to run out of words thanking a beautiful musical moment.
OH MY, it started playing it in the background, then I switched over to see the band and I was SPEECHLESS to find that it's all by himself...WOOAH
Thank you for reposting this!! I've waited such a long time to see the whole session
Very good to hear a musician show there vulnerability, Inspiring.
She is beautiful in every way, I love this!
A hero that taught me
Quelle beauté!
always brings tears.
