For cars in the salt belt most leaks are from rusted transmission cooler lines. Just because the rubber hose is wet, it my not be source of leak. The transmission cooler lines usually rust and fail by radiator. The transmission cooler lines run about $100 for an Impreza.
Yup im there right now. After 2 rubber hoses, 2 gallons ATF, hours of pissing with it.. I just cut the deteriorated metal line and pulled the rubber hose up higher. After a 20mil drive to work my AT Oil Temp Light was flashing and I had to pull over and pay $90 for the Dorman Transmission Cooler Line Assembly 624-548
Bullet - quick question: Do you know if the entire ATF cooling system is just a closed loop? Tonight I replaced the two rubber hoses that go to the radiator in the front, the metal lines that run from the side of the radiator to the back of the engine area, and the two rubber hoses in the back of the car. I think and hope I got everything back in the same order. What was odd was that the rubber hoses behind the engine criss-crossed each other and it looked odd. I put it back the way I found it (I think.) Hopefully, IF the lines are reversed, the ATF will just run in the opposite direction through the radiator but I'm not sure if that has some side effect that I'm not thinking of. Thanks again.
Another great video by Bullet - thank you. My lines are leaking on the metal which has rusted and rotted - just above where you clamped on the new hoses - do you know how to take that round connector off that would disconnect about 8 inches of the metal line from the full metal run?
@@BulletSolano It's a whole metal tubing system that you have to buy. I picked it up for about $50 at rockauto. Going to do the hoses as well. That's too bad about your car - you have some great Impreza videos.
Hi Bullet Question. I believe transmission fluid got on my radiator and reservoir. I believe it’s transmission fluid because my engine oil is at level. I have a 2012 Forester. U think I need to replace the transmission cooler ?
@@BulletSolano I noticed I have a little bit of motor oil in my radiator...I’m afraid it’s a blown head gasket. My 2012 Subaru Forester does not have an oil cooler. Any other options that you would recommend?
I just replaced my radiator and now I have a leak coming from the A/T oil cooler line (shorter hose to be exact). The leak is originating from right above the hose on the hard line. I tried fixing it, but just ended up ordering new hard lines. After doing my research, it seems like everyone that has done it before says it's like a puzzle getting them swapped, but I was wondering if you had any tips for doing this job?
Hi when I replace my radiator the line get busted right in that spot, what I did is cut the line because it get busted just like 2 MM from the rubber line
Good job👍 2012 Subaru Impreza cvt Transmission Overheats . I changed the fluids. It was OK for a week and I noticed the lights came out yesterday again Car has 110 000 miles Any recommendation ?
I think that the passenger side fitting on all subaru radiators eventually breaks off. It seems to be a poor design, and a terrible surprise. Better if it were disimilar metal insert (brass)that the line threads into. Thanks for the viddy!
i fucked up. i didnt tighten the metal nipples that screw the radiator to the hoses tight enough, then i bent it so it leaked, then i drove while it leaked. i fixed the nipples, and put fluid in, so it drives, but now my transmission is smoking, when i drive too long. do you think i have too much transmission fluid? i cant get a good read from the stick
@@BulletSolano yeah the smoke was coming from the exhaust. The leak sprayed everywhere so it's taking a while to burn off. No damage!! Yay. I had a pro check my fluid levels. Didn't wanna risk my transmission. Still a cost effective fix baby
@@BulletSolano I called Subaru to get the preformed hoses. The dealers diagram had the part numbers reversed from what the official Subaru webs site had. (front transmission hoses versus rear transmission hoses.) so I ended up ordering both parts so my car would not be down too long. ...it's always something.. Thanks again.

Is it mandatory to replace the radiator? I have the same issue with the transmission hose leaking
Is not mandatory to replaced it but in my car the conector to the hose broke off that’s why I have to replace the radiator

If the lines are backwards it just wouldn’t cool as effectively!!

hello - great video thank you - does it make a difference which pipes go where on the transmission side ? thanks
Thanks, yes it does!! Replaced them the same way
@@BulletSolano hi - which way was that please - confused - long pipe on which end ?
Sorry bro I don’t remember, I lost that car few year ago
Hey Bullet, for a AT fluid flush, which of the hoses should I remove? the line to the rear of the car?
I do not recommend to do a transmission flush but you have to remove the hose on the bottom of the radiator for the transmission cooler
The hose that shows in the video is the one you have to removed
You think it's not needed? or just a drain and fill is enough?
Do I drain and fill 3 times like a week in between, that’s recommended by subaru
Thanks man, great videos!

You have to replace the radiator because the transmission cooler is attached to it
@@BulletSolano I noticed I have a little bit of motor oil in my radiator...I’m afraid it’s a blown head gasket. My 2012 Subaru Forester does not have an oil cooler. Any other options that you would recommend?
Do a leak test on the radiator to see if you have a blown head gasket
Is 2016 the same

Where's the transmission fluid filter for this vehicle located
Transmission filter is located inside the transmission pan, some models they have the filter outside the transmission
Where did you get the hoses from ?
Autozone

check the fluid level with the car on, and yes probably you have to much fluid in it
