Doing this while doing my oil pan on my 06 WRX. I will say, just drain your coolant using the peacock valve on the radiator beforehand. Draining from the oil cooler lines just makes a big nasty mess. I can't tell you how many times I got coolant in my eye, and in my mouth from the lines bleeding onto the header shields and running their length. The rest of this is spot on.
Great vid! tackled this right after doing my cylinder 4 cooling mod and clutch. Should've used the funnel on the top coolant reservoir instead of your radiator.
Just did the Valve cover gaskets on my 04 Forester XT, mine were only seeping a bit no drips reckon yours might be the same. Its a bit of a pain to do but it’s done and dusted. If you do it, worth getting some new half moons with the gasket kit they can go a bit brittle with age.
70 retired lineman diyer. 2006 sti with spt add ons. 2 leaks .power steering pump leak and oil leak at the same time. Rebuild kit for pump ordered with the 4 o rings for the oil cooler. Hope this fixes all.
Bought my outback from a Lexus dealership and they did the valve gaskets and oil cooler after I noticed leakage there and now the temp gauge fluctuates. Do you think it’s from them not knowing how bleed a boxer engine or maybe something else??
I have a 2005 wrx and my oil cooler hoses/lines are leaking because they are staring to get brittle. My question is are there 3 hoses/lines? And are they all 3 the same? Would you mind helping me out with the parts please?
Help me I have 2007 Subaru Legacy Limited. I have Aux input but its not working. In panel there is no any selection for Aux. When I pulled aux input unit from center console I can see wires there.
Are those gaskets the same as comes on the new Oil Filter?? Can an Oil Filter Gasket substitute for the orange Gasket? Just wondering because it’s an emergency. 🆘 ❤🖖🏼
i find it ironic that ive watched your videos for everything that goes wrong with my car. We are a family, commited to this car for life.
Amazingly detailed video. This is why I love youtube. Saved a bunch of money and had a lot of fun wrenching on my Legacy GT 😎
Glad I could help!
I always jack it right on that crossmember, it's where you're supposed to do it from and it's super convenient.
yea buddy! looking forward to that valve cover gaskets vid!
Let me get it right (@ 3:02) , you cranked up your engine without oil on it right? That's very bad for your engine...
Yes no oil in engine is bad… The start up was from a previous time. No harm done here

Thanks for the tip! I’ll be taking your advice next time when I have to drain the coolant 👍
very different very EJ20. the 2.0 has just the long bolt and gasket on top of the cooler and done
Buy a 6 or 12 pack of OEM filters and get a fumoto drain valve. Save time and money, I can't trust knockoff filters Love your channel, keep it up.
Have you thought about putting the getadom tune cylinder 4 cooling mod on your car?
Yes that’s on the list for sure!
Hell yeah! I just put one in my 06 my car sounds happier!
Bleeding is from the other one not from the Rad.
having troubles finding a suitable gasket for my 04 cross sport forester, its an ej205 so would a wrx gasket work?
I’m sorry I have no knowledge on your type of motor. I’d check to see if it has an oem oil cooler? Was yours leaking?

Thanks for the video and nice work 👌did you have to burp your coolant system after or was a top up sufficient?
I got lucky and just a top off was all I needed.
are these 4x orings part numbers suitable for ej257 or just ej255?
I having mu cooler leaking on start up did this work for you?
I have a 2015 Subaru Forester. Oil is inside the radiator can you give me some guidance on how to fix.
Did you lose a good amount of oil when you noticed the problem
Nothing crazy just some residue making it onto the oil filter. Maybe a couple drops of oil over night
Appreciate all the details you provide! Thanks much!
Nice work on this one dude
What engine does your wrx have I have an ej257 looking for these gaskets
My WRX engine is a EJ25. However it’s the similar 2.5 liter motor that comes in the sti’s. I’m sure the gaskets are universal…

What is the model of your torque wrench?
It’s a craftsman model 913919. I use this one which is a lot easier to use amzn.to/3GHYBsM
Such a great video. Helped me so much thank you!
Glad it helped!

Sorry man I’m useless. I have no clue!
great vid, now to sort my own :D
Go for it!
Awesome video 👍
Thank you 👍
Do you just use a chiltons manual for your torque specs? Or do you just google it? Lol great video bro!
Double like
Thank you
