This is SO powerful because he's so strong throughout the whole series, never gives up or backs down or lets the pain be his master, takes the punches and never accepts help unless he's at the very end of his rope and basically next to dying, (almost) never lets people see his inner frailty. He's so composed, so controlled, often pretty emotionless and never vulnerable. . . until scenes like this which just hit you like a ROCK in the gut because he's been holding this in for SO long and you finally see that it's all an outward strength, and on the inside he's barely holding on.

At the very beginning when he's struggling with the door you can hear in his voice that he's just done. Maybe he's been crying. The first "Karen" is barely a whisper, so he has to try again to say her voice with more strength. And even the second time he says it you can hear the brokenness and desperation for help. But he's so used to covering it up that by the time we're seven seconds into the scene he's pulled it inside and bottled it up and put on the mask of a normal tone and a calm voice.

I heard that in the comics, Matt even had depression. That FUCKING scared me till this day. This guy is a superhero, sure but his life just sucks. He lost nearly all of his lovers. He constantly have to fight his resurrected ex, his wife in a mental hospital, Foggy having cancer, Mother had depression and abused him, father died in organised crime, lost his job, etc. There's a quote from the Kingpin. "A man without hope is a man without fear." It means that Matt have nothing left to loose if he have no fear, and if he has nothing left to loose, he has no hope. If that doesn't sound depressing, I don't know what is.

Daredevil, and alot of other heroes with extremely sucky lives should do some group therapy. I'd watch it or read it, I think it would be pretty good because when we watch these characters' respective shows, everything revolves around them and we get the impression that their lives are uniquely messed up and alot of the characters themselves may feel that way too. But ofcourse that's not true and lots of heroes are in similar boats

Even if it’s just to get stuff off your chest it’ll help. If you bottle things up like Matt does you’ll inevitably explode, and that can hurt you and the people around you. If you can’t afford therapy then find someone in your life that you trust and open up. It’s hard but it can really help your well being. Hope your doing ok and you don’t need any of this advice any more but if you aren’t, please consider it.

Peter Parker, Steve Rogers and if you want to include Tony Stark Both on at his best and his most vulnerable are also great examples of grounded heroes. This can also extend to Disney’s animated films were they had reliable characters that dealt with their problems both on a mental level but at a Philosophical level as well.
