Yes! I’ve been following you for a couple of years now. I appreciate all your tips. I usually get sick when eating to much carbs. I don’t do that often. Just recently I was waiting for my dad to get a biopsy. There wasn’t much options to eat. I was going to fast but my mom ordered pizza. Then after the biopsy, my poor hungry dad wanted Italian food. 😳
Pomegranite juice is supposedly low on the glycemic index and doesn't create sugar spikes, but shows 34 grams of sugar (no added sugar). Can you explain?
One issue I had when I cut way down on carbs and sugar was that I wasn't getting enough fiber. I talked to my doctor about it, and she told me that I need to eat more foods with insoluble fiber in them. Can you do a video on fiber intake while trying to maintain a healthy blood sugar and examples of foods with insoluble fiber in them?
The Fiber myth was finally put to rest after scientists released the findings of an eight-year clinical trial involving 49,000 women, also known as the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) Dietary Modification Trial. People who eat a Carnivora diet
I just eat a lot of strawberries, cherries, cauliflower, red cabbage , occasional broccoli. I do 16:8 intermittents fasting 3-4 times a week. I prioritize eating protein and fat, but after I have my first meal I’ll snack on some berries. I categorize myself as low carb and if I do a cheat day, it’ll be so roast potatoes not a sugary dessert. Just doing these thing has improved my overall health by a lot.
after breakfast and lunch, i’m on the go. could i get the same benefit if i just did 10-20 push ups and squats after dinner? or if out with friends, could i do some isometric things at the table?
Take vinegar before and after meals that really helps. After 15 min of meals take berberine 30c homeopathic med 10 drops in half cup of water n consume by small sips. After 40 atleast 1 meal a day should be a salad of veggies n fruits.
There's no such thing. All carbs are carbs. It depends on how your body reacts. For example, some people can eat oatmeal without a blood sugar spike, but in other people, it makes their blood sugar go through the roof. The only way to be sure is to test yourself with a blood glucose meter.
Mmmm yeah, na. None is this is correct. I have done all of this, and got into trouble. I have been hearing each and every one of these points for decades. If you have Diabetes I suggest you learn to intermittent fast - you can do it. If you are able, trial food and document the spikes - simply don't go there. Vinegar is a good tip. Exercise should be part of your solution. Take your blood sugar reading BEFORE deciding to eat; if you are not back to a low rage, continue fasting, test again in 24 hours.
KAIT... you are truly helping people and changing their lives and saving their health and saving people from terrible diabetes and being on terrible medicine for the rest of their lives. Thank you so much
Let me tell y’all another secret. I’m a huge canner. I will soak and rinse potatoes (homegrown) or organic then can them. I’m a carnivore, but I prep everything.
Either way, outside of ‘or’ inside glass mason jars, cool refrigerate potatoes for 12 hours “AFTER cooking potatoes” to build a much healthier “Resistant Starch” in potatoes, to help stop blood sugar spikes and to help stop potatoes from turning to glucose and fat in the body.
I will - for some, it is "reactive hypoglycemia" when too much insulin is dumped after a high carb meal, especially if simple carbs without fiber or fat to slow absorption. Another reason for women especially, if before menopause, it happens before a period when your progesterone levels drop naturally. that leaves a lot of unopposed estrogen in your system, which, estrogen lowers blood sugar very very fast. same goes after menopause, but often feeling low and normal blood sugars can be from low thyroid, extremely common. I know from experience. it used to happen to me and doctors were oblivious to it. Now I take HRT and thyroid and sugar is perfect and I can eat a ton of carbs. like, cookies and cake whenever I want. it was all hormonal.
I've bern doing a few steamed baby potatoes. Steam, cool, quarter and stick on griddle for color. Does not spike me too much. Single piece of bread is worse.
I've watched hundreds of videos on keto; so I've heard most of this info before. However, I've never heard it presented with such understanding. These were some great tips for those of us who don't have the wherewithal to do strict keto.
I eat green banana with cottage cheese or yogurt (full fat). This helps on blood glucose from rising high, but i add a half spoon of olive oil, sprinkle ground flaxseed, chia seeds, shreeded coconut, there's no glucose hike. I i experienced it everytime and its yummy. Also resistance training is tremendously helpful after a high carbs meal, specially when the weather does not cooperate for a walk.
Thanks for all you do! I am eating more eggs! Can you please make videos about quinoa hemp seeds teff millett and amaranth and steel cut oats? Quinoa has high protein and some healthy fats, I eat less oatmeal and more quinoa in my hot cereal and it keeps me fuller longer... I believe kiwi has omegas in the black seeds so I eat more kiwi and less bananas..Thanks for the tip on ACV before a meal, I am doing that as well Thanls again❤
I will tell you that not consuming coffee and dairy I don't experience acid reflux no longer plus losing more weight. I'm keto and enjoy it fully. though I tenderize prior to grilling. Even meat that's less than 20% fat, you'll still get your daily fat intake. I eat smart not just to eat. I'm 59 so everything I eat matters.
I'm in my upper 50's and work nights. My sugar is all over the place. I don't want to get off nights (pays more) it's hard to do stuff at night on weekends. Suggestions?🤔
Eat your last meal before 19:00. I'm doing nights for last fitheen years and I have no problems at all. With two hours before you go to bed after the night shift do not eat. Hope it helps take care
Great video Kait ☺ I recently wore a CGM for 2 weeks(I'm in Canada and don't need a prescription for one here) and learned a lot about how my body reacts to certain combinations of food and also how strategies like vinegar(any acetic acid really) and also eating fibre and protein first and walking after meals works to reduce spikes for me. I had some really good surprises! for example. I can eat a couple of slices of pizza as long as there is enough protein and fat in it and I had a very low level spike whereas nothing I did seemed to reduce the massive spike when I ate jasmine rice, my fave food oatmeal was not so good unless I ate some vegetables before and then ate it plain with a sprinkle of cinnamon but no fruit. Very interesting. Eating resistant starches made a very minimal effect for me. Also the timing of the walking after a meal makes a difference - for me I found that 20 to 30 minutes after I finished eating was optimal. The biggest takeaway was my portion sizes. I tend to eat mass quantities so by slowing down and chewing properly as well as reducing the portion size this is what really reduced the spike. All good things to learn.
Great video! Thanks kait. One easy way to reduce blood glucose besides a walk is to do a soleus pushup while seated It is researched to reduce a post meal glucose spike by 30+% A soleus push up is even easier than going for a walk so perfect for those that are stuck at their desk due to their jobs and cannot go for a walk, or those that are feel too lazy to walk and prefer to be couch potatoes
If the carbs come from fruits or vegetables I can eat them just fine. However I can’t eat beans. But I can eat potatoes. Considering I am no longer eating bread, rice, or any other grains. Then I think it’s okay for me to eat potatoes occasionally.

Try some magnesium citrate
Together with carbs u can try ladies finger and Indian lauki..its gi is very low and most suitable for diabetics

Great tip. Will try that. By green banana, you mean not too ripped?
@nanapoku5259
Yes, unripe banana. Very popular in the West Indies! Tastes like potato a bit!
You sprinkle olive oil, chia seeds, coconut etc in addition to the yogurt/cheese? I guess you cook the green banana, don't think it can be eaten raw
skip the banana and add kiwi, blueberry, raspberry, ginger root is a great adiction to the diet
