      Yes! I’ve been following you for a couple of years now. I appreciate all your tips. I usually get sick when eating to much carbs. I don’t do that often. Just recently I was waiting for my dad to get a biopsy. There wasn’t much options to eat. I was going to fast but my mom ordered pizza. Then after the biopsy, my poor hungry dad wanted Italian food. 😳

    One issue I had when I cut way down on carbs and sugar was that I wasn't getting enough fiber. I talked to my doctor about it, and she told me that I need to eat more foods with insoluble fiber in them. Can you do a video on fiber intake while trying to maintain a healthy blood sugar and examples of foods with insoluble fiber in them?

      I just eat a lot of strawberries, cherries, cauliflower, red cabbage , occasional broccoli. I do 16:8 intermittents fasting 3-4 times a week. I prioritize eating protein and fat, but after I have my first meal I’ll snack on some berries. I categorize myself as low carb and if I do a cheat day, it’ll be so roast potatoes not a sugary dessert. Just doing these thing has improved my overall health by a lot.

    I eat green banana with cottage cheese or yogurt (full fat). This helps on blood glucose from rising high, but i add a half spoon of olive oil, sprinkle ground flaxseed, chia seeds,shreeded coconut, there's no glucose hike. I i experienced it everytime and its yummy. Also resistance training is tremendously helpful after a high carbs meal, specially when the weather does not cooperate for a walk.

    can you talk about having normal blood sugar levels and symptoms of hypoglycemia and what to do about it ?

    • @loneranger7573
      @loneranger7573 11 месяцев назад

      I will - for some, it is "reactive hypoglycemia" when too much insulin is dumped after a high carb meal, especially if simple carbs without fiber or fat to slow absorption. Another reason for women especially, if before menopause, it happens before a period when your progesterone levels drop naturally. that leaves a lot of unopposed estrogen in your system, which, estrogen lowers blood sugar very very fast. same goes after menopause, but often feeling low and normal blood sugars can be from low thyroid, extremely common. I know from experience. it used to happen to me and doctors were oblivious to it. Now I take HRT and thyroid and sugar is perfect and I can eat a ton of carbs. like, cookies and cake whenever I want. it was all hormonal.

    Great video Kait ☺ I recently wore a CGM for 2 weeks(I'm in Canada and don't need a prescription for one here) and learned a lot about how my body reacts to certain combinations of food and also how strategies like vinegar(any acetic acid really) and also eating fibre and protein first and walking after meals works to reduce spikes for me. I had some really good surprises! for example. I can eat a couple of slices of pizza as long as there is enough protein and fat in it and I had a very low level spike whereas nothing I did seemed to reduce the massive spike when I ate jasmine rice, my fave food oatmeal was not so good unless I ate some vegetables before and then ate it plain with a sprinkle of cinnamon but no fruit. Very interesting. Eating resistant starches made a very minimal effect for me. Also the timing of the walking after a meal makes a difference - for me I found that 20 to 30 minutes after I finished eating was optimal. The biggest takeaway was my portion sizes. I tend to eat mass quantities so by slowing down and chewing properly as well as reducing the portion size this is what really reduced the spike. All good things to learn.

      @joeybozz I understand your numbers because I live in Canada and our meters read the numbers the same way. If that was your number in the morning it's considered high. Factors to consider are what time did you eat the night before, how big was your carb (so rice portion)? Did you have any fibre (vegetables) to help break that down and help regulate your sugar? I find the California mix (broccoli, carrot, cauliflower) to be a good choice, a nice salad or if you can afford it an avocado with every meal anything to cut through that rice and most importantly your protein choices are important as well. The later you eat your body is working overtime to break down the food especially carbs like rice and potatoes and if you're not active after dinner it makes it worse. Hope this helps. Good luck on your journey.

      @ianstuart5660 This happened to me too. All the beans and lentils were too carb heavy and I could not lose weight until I cut them out.

    Pairing carbohydrate foods with protein or fat spikes your blood sugar and gives you high blood sugar and insulin resistance.

      @@HealthCoachKait when I eat rice+ meat or rice + chicken or rice + beans or spaghetti with meat balls. My blood sugar sky rockets over 200. When I was a pre-diabetic and my fasting blood sugar was in 150`s I should have done the mastering diabetes diet or the chicken or meat with low glycemic vegetables diet and exercise to reverse my insulin resistance and pre-diabetes going into full blown type 2 diabetes and get my blood sugar back in the low 100`s and even down to 85 or 90. Even Dr. Ben Bickman said that eating carbs and fats together cause 20x the insulin spikes and 20x the glucose spikes.

    Mmmm yeah, na. None is this is correct. I have done all of this, and got into trouble. I have been hearing each and every one of these points for decades. If you have Diabetes I suggest you learn to intermittent fast - you can do it. If you are able, trial food and document the spikes - simply don't go there. Vinegar is a good tip. Exercise should be part of your solution. Take your blood sugar reading BEFORE deciding to eat; if you are not back to a low rage, continue fasting, test again in 24 hours.

    Does Splenda cause your body to think it's sugar? Does it spike blood sugar?
